I did the same swap, that collins shifter is trash. Ended up going with SerialNine's due the collins shifter having issues with slop and 5th and 6th gear not going in easy. Question on the clitch, you guys using the clutch that come with the kit? I feel its way to heavy for the amount of power the stock 2j is outting down. Thinking about going with a lighter clutch. Also, did you have to tilt the motor a bit so everything can line up? I had to, which caused the exhuast not to line up properly. Had to cut up the y-pipe and get a custom piece made as it caused my Greddy system to hang to low. Let me know if you guys have had the same issues. Much appreciated, i subbed 👍
Hey, yeah so we had too use the adjustment screws (on each side of the shifter) to actually get it to shift smoothly into 5th & 6th but the bolts for the actual rod for the shift knob keep coming loose even with loctite. May end up changing shifters as well. The clutch is the most chattery thing I’ve ever heard, but engages pretty nicely, no complaints about pedal feel, maybe too heavy for a stock 2jz but it works well for drifting which is the cars main purpose. From my understanding its a 350z clutch so you can try different clutch and pressure plate setups to find whats most comfortable for you. 100% have to tilt the motor to get the transmission to line up. I’m thinking maybe you didn’t clearance the transmission tunnel enough, once i got the transmission in and bolted up the crossmember in the back, the motor leveled out and I was able to put the exhaust back on without modification. It definitely sits lower than before and we now have the transmission hanging pretty low, so we are considering making a skid plate across the frame rails to protect everything when the car hits the track.
I was real curious on how that adapter plate bolted onto it after you cut the bell housing? Would be a good video to have for anybody that wants to do this.
Hey man, what is exactly is the "rod" you got that moves the shifter location so far forward ? The one that comes with the Collins kit (and mine from my autosport engineering shifter) seems to go only half that distance. I'm worried it won't get the shifter in the stock location like yours. Where did you get it ?
@@ichigouzumaki7986 No, just have to remove the automatic transmission control unit under the dash. We are using the stock auto ecu for engine management.
for yall wondering, clutch pedal is in normal spot, he has the auto brake pedal which is large and far to the left, swap the pedal and its normal
