Elvis is the only man I've ever seen who could do the "limp wrist" thing, and still look completely 100% masculine! Lol!

Elvis is the master of Stardom and props to the Great Walter Matthau who said Elvis was a true professional and very kind. Also Walter a great comedic actor as well

Elvis has a full orchestra behind him plus a full band, plus a male quartet and the Sweet Inspirations all through the 70's. This movie has very good music, from "Crawfish", "New Orleans", "Dixieland Rock", "King Creole", "Hard-headed Woman", "Young Dreams", "Lover Doll", and more. Thanks for this reaction. I love your Elvis stuff. Let's do more!❤❤❤

See at this time in 1958 young people were revolting against their elders and society’s elite. There was a youth revolution going on. And Elvis supported both the youth movement and the civil rights movement which was already brewing. So scenes like this Emulated real life and Americas youth ate it all up!

The "boyfriend", asking him to sing, is Walter Mathau, who later starred in the movie "The Odd Couple" which a tv show was based. You youngsters may know him best from the "Grumpy Old Men" movies, playing the grumpy old friend of Jack Lemmon.

This is classic, but the version of this from the intro to his 1968 comeback special shows his progression over 10 years. He’s much more aggressive and raspy. Not that this is bad. It’s terrific. It’s just different. This is from the movie King Creole, the other comes off as more raw.

Walter Matthau played a lot of heavies in the 1950's before Hollywood discovered his chops as a comedian. He costarred with Jack Lemon in eight movies and they were perfect foils for each other. Their chemistry got even better with time in later films like "Out To Sea" and the two Grumpy Old Men films. I body guarded them together for a 1995 event and Matthau still cracked up Lemon with his humor. BFFs. I also echo Elvis Live From Hawaii's performance of American Trilogy is a MUST see.

Elvis could mesmerise every audience and it’s great to see your face absorbed in the film. Elvis loved making King Creole and felt it to be his best. Unfortunately it was always the frivolous, girlie films that did better at the box office so the studios pushed him to keep to that recipe to make money. He made 4 other more serious films, love me tender, Charro , Flaming Star and Change of Habit where he acted really well. But once the contracts finished in 1968 he returned to live performances which he loved. He appreciated the electricity and reactions generated by his audiences that inspired him. 👌💕🕺

Crarolyn Jones playing the boss's mistreated girlfriend later became Morticia Adams on the Adams Family TV show. Waletr Matthauu plays the gangster boss, but eventually his career became more comedy and some drama,. and he became a major star. Vic Morrow, the "punk" got his own TV show in 1962, the famous "Combat!" show about an army troop in WWII. Tbis is the picture Elvis once said he liked the most, rather than those ridiculous boy gets girl musicials he did in the 1960's. Critics at the time generally lked this role of his, saying it showed he had some potential acting chops.
