    ..good morning Capt...just found this golden oldie in your deep and dusty archives...my, my... how the times have changed...such new planes, and such new video quality..as a long-time subscriber....thanks again for sharing all your fun with us ..

    This is deffinately the clearest video I have seen of a landing from the cockpit. Usually the terrain is properly exposed and the cabin underexposed or vice-versa! This one is perfect and expertly exposed. Thanks for setting the bar higher, and of coarse thanks for letting us have a front seat view on what IMO is the greatest twin turboprop ever! King Air!

    Great video. My 19yo was just hired a week ago by Venture Aviation located at KGMU.... he recently got his multi engine commercial in a Cessna 310... so he is now living the dream lol... he is flying king air 90's, 200's and one 350... as first officer ... he loves it ... actually on a trip as we speak.... they operate 91 and 135 .... he isn't qualified on the 135 but it will happen... love your videos and appreciate all the work that goes into them....I was up in our 182 today thinking about how you guys make such good videos ..... thank you again

    Jim H., thanks for your comments. You've inspired me to go out and make another video. The truth is, I aggressively delete most of the videos I make. That's how I compensate for my lack of talent. With what's left, I try to create a video that will give people a representation of what I see on a daily basis.

    No, but it gives everyone options, like going to a visual approach,or a Special VFR if conditions permit; or its just good sense to keep the 2way comm going with ATC. You establish a rythm with ATC sometimes and it gets easier to establish certain operational "points" in the approach. Just a professional POV.

  • @captmoonbeam
    @captmoonbeam  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    with good weather it's not a problem at all, unless you lose an engine. If you have to do the approach it's a very busy approach for single pilot operations. Lots of step down fixes and you have to pick up the runway quite a ways out to have time to get from the MDA to the runway elevation.

  • @dave4shmups
    @dave4shmups 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    True, although I've flown over the mountains in 737-300 with a lot worse! I'm not saying that this was a piece of cake, just that the bumps in flight seem to have more to do with the weather then the size of the airplane. Nice job and great video captmoonbeam!!!!!

    I've flown several -350's and -300's including FL-19 - it had the EFIS left, analog right setup. (N33CL if you'd like to look it up - I flew it when it was based out of KLIT). Many of my King Air vids posted on my channel are from flying FA-111, based in KORK.

      N34RT Hi, I flew FL-20 for a couple of years then it was sold. I know the area well. I worked at Central Flying Servce in Little Rock from 1990 to 1994.

    He DOES say it at 2:54! Reporting the runway in sight is not required, but having a clearance to land is. Therefore, to proceed with the visual approach, he reported the runway in sight. (AIM 7-4-3 and FAR 91.129, 130, 131)

    • @Bartonovich52
      @Bartonovich52 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to report runway and any pertinent traffic in sight to be cleared for a visual approach. Otherwise you have to stay on the approach you were cleared unless you ask for the contact or cancel IFR.

    Hi Capt Moonbeam. Nice video. On off chance you are still checking comments on this old one ...
    back in the mid 80's I flew in from Denver for some skiing at Vail. My memory is the airport was at Avon, and maybe it was Rocky Mountain Airlines (?) Dash 7 (?).
    Looking at map now I can't see an airport there, so I assume Eagle replaced it. Any memories of that place?

      thanks. the problem with jets cruising at 40,000 ft or higher is that you may go 15 to 20 minutes at a time with no scenery or radio chatter.

    It looked like for a while the VSI was showing a descent yet the altimeter wasn't moving at all... do they (or 'yours') sometimes stick?

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +foxtrot789 Hi Foxtrot. Haven't flown this aircraft in a long time. Maybe three years but, I don't remember it ever sticking. It may be a VSI error or momentary indication on the VSI due to turbulence.

    Nice video. What is the Red Flag on your ADI? Thought I'd see some "steering bars" on the ADI (no FDC?) - couldn't see your HSI - could see the co-pilot's. Thanks,

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Donavon Hi Michael. Thanks for watching. The flag is for the glide-slope, no signal. Earlier the FD was up while the autopilot was engaged. This was before I intercepted the localizer. After intercept I disengaged the autopilot and cleared the flight director.

      +BossaNossa1 I like both. But I prefer the jets. 1. they are simpler. 2. easier to fly 3. When it comes to weather it's so nice to be able to climb straight to FL450.

    Are you not aligned with the runway until about 50 feet, or is that an illusion?

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Travroy. I went back and watched the video and It does look that way. My first thought was that maybe I was offsetting from the terrain on the left. But then I noticed on the garmin display that it shows the aircraft on the course line. Now I'm thinking that it must be due to the fact the camera was offset to the side.

  • @HawkeyeFlyer
    @HawkeyeFlyer 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's an LDA approach and the localizer is offset 3 degrees. Check it out here:

    Nice video, though a few things I picked up. What year model this 350 is? All the 350 I have been in (analog instruments) had dual flight directors and at least one EFIS on the left side, and also as far as I know, the 350 was not single-pilot certified as the rest of the 200 and 90 Beechcraft leet. This looks more like a 300 cockpit. Thanks for sharing.

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  11 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Javacup this was a 1991 King Air 350. One of the first ones, that's probably why it looks like a 300 cockpit. Since this aircraft weighs over 12,500 lbs the PIC is required to have a type rating. If your type ride was demonstrated as single pilot you would have single pilot privileges in the 300 series.

    • @Bartonovich52
      @Bartonovich52 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice plane, rather sketchy airport. A bit of wind, from any direction, would be bad. A headwind as you were landing like that, would blow straight over that big lump in the ground, and be turbulent and nasty. There are several obstacles on the approach, which are not a problem when VIS is good, but I'd hate to be coming in on instruments there... A place where Synthetic Vision or some equivalent would be worth many times it's weight in gold. Not the place you want to go in bad weather.
