I'm glad the series is continuing. We're all very hyped with CS2 of course but I'm sure I'm not the only one that will still appreciate the ART of detailing that you make with CS1. For what you've shown us so far, CS2 is still some time away in terms of detailing, so some Orchid Bay from time to time will be appreciated
Hi Egg, I'm so glad you've gone 81 tiles - Orchid Bay is such a nice place to live. The extra "Dock" space should definitely have a shipyard. Edit: having read other people's comments; maybe a Naval Base/Shipyard combo. :)
I just found your channel today and I must say it's one of the most beautiful cities in the city sky lines, however I have a fresh idea which you might add into this already beautiful city, the idea is that of a POND PARK ( this is basically four to five small beautiful serene ponds connected through a bike network or public walk ways around covered on the periphery with tall trees and beautiful flowers, also the use of fountain parks can leverage the natural beauty of the city many folds ❤ Much Love 💓
Since you asked for suggestions regarding the old harbour type area: Are you familiar with the _Speicherstadt_ (lit. city of warehouses) district of Hamburg? The red brick multi-storey storage houses with direct access to water on one side and to the road on the other were a vibrant part of the turn-of-the-century harbour in the hanseatic city, but over time the access from the port side fell behind the international developement of ever-bigger ships and so the small canals are very rarely used by cargo barges anymore. By now there are mostly tourist boats frequenting the area and the historic (and protected) buildings now house a variety of museums, offices, indoor leisure acitivities and a lot were even converted to medium-density housing. I think it is one of the most beautiful parts of the entire city and certainly of the harbour. Maybe you could build something like that on a smaller scale, gving the feeling of an old inland harbour that was made obsolete by the new industrial mega-shipping compatible harbour down the river.
I think that old shipping cargo area should become a high end tourist area where they've redeveloped defunct old waterfront yards to become a bougie tourist spot
Tickled you went to 81 tiles! There are enough ideas in your head to do things up right! You are so good at large cities and small towns, but it's time for small towns! Great job 🤩
To answer the question about what you call this I was taught in the US (at least in California) that the dual carriage way would be a “Highway” due to it having intersecting roads. Versus a “freeway” that has no stop in the free flow of traffic.
Might be cool to keep with a slight military theme (with the air force base). Using that second port area as a small regional naval base might be cool?
Glad you've expanded to 81 tiles so this build can continue. I've taken a lot of inspiration from many different CS creators, but this build has probably been the most impactful build for keeping me interested in building CS. It also pushed me away from (most) mods/workshop assets due to just how effectively you use vanilla assets. Thanks for the hard work and great videos.
Hey Egg! Just a little suggestion for roundabout detailing that I've tried and enjoyed the result of... Slightly mound the centre and decorate accordingly! I've noticed most dual carriageway roundabouts aren't flat.. I like the look of it and hope you do too 👍🏼
I’d love to see spaceport! And perhaps a larger oil industrial zone! + what about a large fishing Harbour by the cargo airport? Love to see the city expanding!
Maybe the old cargo port with the industrial ruins could be made into an industrial heritage site by adding a surrounding park, some more "historical" buildings (eg from Industrial Revolution) and a "museum"? Think Derwent Valley or Liverpool's Pier Head.
I'm following this series from the start at the moment and it's been so much fun. I'm more of a learn by doing type of person so following everything per episode helps my brain process the reasoning behind the stuff in game. This series and the noobs guide are as far as I'm concerned invaluable material for learning the game. Plus the detailing time-lapses are so much fun to watch. They give the city such a unique feel
Just got into CS for the first time ever a few weeks ago and am constantly inspired by your way of making a game into a contemplative art process - so inspiring. And your joy and love for your builds is infectious! Starting over my city on this same map for the fourth time today, just got some new DLC to play around with. Thanks for the channel, it’s really wonderful!
So glad Orchid Bay is continuing. The diner asset from modern mid century would work well as a high rest stop and some of the covered car parking from green cities as well
I love watching your creations! The smaller details that you provide make the land seem real. Placing trees back in the countryside in a manner that looks like real growth adds a lot to the realism. I love the roadside stops you just built. You should name them Two Palms Rest Area! Thanks for the entertaining morning!
You've probably already thought of this but, now that you're using the 81 tiles mod, you can free up a lot of nodes by enabling the "no need for water pipes" in its settings and deleting them all.
11:05 PNW USA, here. It's technically a "parkway" but no one calls it that unless parkway is actually in the name. People would refer to it by its function: ie, state highway, etc.
Glad you are continuing with Orchid Bay. It's always great to watch a master at work. Bit of a history lesson..... In the US, there are Interstate Highways, such as the I 80 and I 35. Even numbered highways generally go east and west; odd numbered go north and south or rings around cities. But there are also US highways, such as US 10 and US 101. These were the original numbered highways before the interstate plan was developed and aren't as heavily traveled for interstate use anymore. Since the US is so large, some states also build state highways between heavily populated areas to spread out traffic.
81 tiles. Happy to see the series continue. If nothing else, we are going to need to be weaned from CS1. Don't think I'd do too well with a complete break.
Have to say, the Skyrim open world theme in the beginning is a nice touch, that song is so chill and relaxing (right to the point where a dragon attacks and those norse drums start pummeling)
The area of the dual carriageway where the two roads split and leave an area of land between them, you absolutely need to put a house and land on that area as a shout out to the house on the M62
I'm so glad you went for 81 tiles! Really looking forward to seeing Orchid Bay develop further. Too bad there is a node and tree limit though. I wonder how you will play around it
I think it would have been nice to have either a motel or possibly cabins at the rest area. You could add a fishing dock and a woodland area with trails.
that cargo port thing could be like a really upscale gentrified neighbourhood. the story could ne that it was once a dock, but has now been turned into luxury housing, but has still kept some remnants of what it used to be
11:11. In Australia we used to call them Freeways, but now they are tolled and they are called Motorways. Some Highways are Dual Carriageways. All By-Passes usually Daul Carriageways. Local Dual Carriageways are called 'Parkways' etc.
i would love to see an old, maybe abandoned shipyard or harbor where the two abandoned factories are! more of an aesthetic build than a "usable" build so to say
Let the counting of the nodes commence! 🎉😁 That oval interchange used to be my go to before I learnt how to do a 4 stack one for high traffic areas 😊 Love the rest stops ❤
We would just call it a state route in America. It's like a small highway that only runs through one state. If it is a major highway it would be an interstate highway which is pretty self-explanatory
For the little mountain lake... the hotel there with fishing, hunting, camping, hiking? For the abandoned wharves love the idea of a revitalized area for sports and shopping For the rest areas, we usually carry food with us and love to stop and use the restroom and then picnic.
In the states we have a really boring word for dual carriageway. We just call it a divided highway. We'll occasionally add the number of lanes to the name, so this would be a 4 lane divided highway.
Hey egg, do you think Orchid Bay and Thessia are going to last long after CS2 comes out or do you already feel like those cities are taking their final steps?
At first blush I thought a ruined old forestry port, from 100+ years ago when they primarily used water for lumber transport (subsequently replaced by rail). But I quite like the naval base idea as well.
Egg! I recently built a festival area in my save and think that could be a fun idea for OB. Something of a miniature Glastonbury. Multiple stages, use of the parklife assets for camping, ferris wheel etc, if you make it a park area and properly gate it off you can generate crazy revenue, would love to see what you do
Would love to see the abandoned cargo port turned into a leisure marina type location. Think it would be a good usage of the space! Also, blood for the blood god!
Here in Germany we call the "big" Motorways/ Interstates Autobahn (car-way) and the closest thing to a Dual Carriageway would be a Bundesstraße (federal road) tough those can be one land per direction aswell. (To the other Germans: correct me if im wrong or misused the terms)
For the port area, you could take inspiration from Groton, Connecticut, and have a sort of continuation of the military theme, and put in a submarine and patrol base further up the river. Down near the marina/ferry/main inlet area in Groton, there’s the submarine manufacturing/maintenance area, but further upriver is where the navy bases them. Considering there is also the coast guard academy somewhat nearby in Connecticut, it would be cool to include the new shoreline with like a joint Coast Guard/Navy patrol, training, and submarine base. Perhaps even with a small airfield for anti-submarine patrol and training (you could use the medium aircraft stands to represent anti-submarine 7 series aircraft, as they are a military modification, known as the P-8 Poseidon) I’ve just started the series, but it could be a way to take things. I can elaborate further if there’s any interest!
Would be great to see that old shipping cargo area being turned into a naval base. Would fit great with Imperatur's air force base. I think CityZilla made a nice one about a year ago.
Was thinking for the area where the dual carriageway splits, where you added the rocks it'd be a fun idea to add a farm house in the middle like we have on the M62 in West Yorkshire. It's a iconic bit of the motorway and would look cool on the map.
I seethe newly opened "abandoned" port as a ultra modern development with green cities apartments and some low rise housing. Something almost luxurious you could see somewhat far from the city.
I think the best use for that empty shipyard would be a Navy/Naval Base, specially considering how close it is from the Airforce base :D Edit: After reading the comments, Im happy others mentioned it as well c:
In India we just call it a bypass or a Outer Ring Road whose basic function is, as the name suggests bypass the city by linking two national/state highways through an outer end instead of going through the city.
I think that in that shipping cargo area you could build a naval base with some housing. You could check out Puerto Williams in the Chilean Patagonia for some inspiration. It’s pretty cute!
Hey Egg, maybe you could incorporate the ruins with a castle-town tourist trap. Could use the old market street unique and maybe some European style buildings.
I find the right hand turn from the dual carriage way into the motorway (at the trumpet) to be quite harsh. could you maybe do a smoother curve? moreover, your roundabout interchange is made with highway roads, making it impossible for pedestrians to cross, would you consider adding a pedestrian bridge somwhere near ?
I’d love to see some sort of scientific/secretive/R&D place with the high tech uniques and the treasure hunt uniques. I’ve been thinking of trying it but not got round to it
Now a mountain sky resort. Also around the highway carriageway, a road into some rural town. That way you could have the the old highway road and the new effence highway connection. Also would like to see a car tour and train tour someday

Never thought that we get so many episodes of OB and I'm always happy to see another Orchid Bay billboard. ❤️

wow sounds like Reffen in Copenhagen 😁cool recommendation:)
exactly my thoughts.

Excited to see the full map build! And also that you’re going to do the mountain top space/communication/disaster? build! Woooo. Love it.
what a legend, OE opeing up his video with Skyrim audio.

In Denmark i think we would call the dual carriage way: Landevej, which is direct translation to Country Road
Take me home
@@neilangelomolleda7283 to the place
in sweden we call it Landsväg
@@albastro5904ok, hello fellow Scandinavian and Nordic person
@@albastro5904that is also direct translation to Country Road right?

Thanks for keeping up the series. Love Orchid Bay!
Glad you like them! ❤️
So happy to see Orchid Bay continuing! Can't wait to see where you take it next!
Yay!! 81 tiles. That means we can have a Wayne to go with Sharon and Karen!!
I'm so glad you went for 81 tiles! Really looking forward to seeing Orchid Bay develop further. Too bad there is a node and tree limit though. I wonder how you will play around it

That oval interchange used to be my go to before I learnt how to do a 4 stack one for high traffic areas 😊
Love the rest stops ❤
The first interchange for that dual carriage way genuinely looks like one close to me, just a nice British touch
The space in the dual carriageway is giving me Stott Hall Farm vibes on the M62!! Love a networking episode!
Great episode sir! The geometric designs on the river would look super amazing! Can't wait to see what you'll do with the shapes!!!🎉🎉🎉
7:59 Good location for a jail/prison between those highways. We have one in Massachusetts.
In Australia we have a dual carriageway called the Asari Carriageway, goes into this spectacular bridge 😉
Ahhhhhh 😂❤
i am REALLY into that roundabout interchange. never seen that before! maybe i'll use it in my build! thanks for the inspo egg!
that little isle with the ruined fortification would look awesome surrounded by high end houses and a golf course
The Skyrim music again!! A man with taste
We would just call it a state route in America. It's like a small highway that only runs through one state. If it is a major highway it would be an interstate highway which is pretty self-explanatory
"Don't worry. I notice eventually." This got me... :D
For the little mountain lake... the hotel there with fishing, hunting, camping, hiking?
For the abandoned wharves love the idea of a revitalized area for sports and shopping
For the rest areas, we usually carry food with us and love to stop and use the restroom and then picnic.
I did a small village on the small above the mountains @2:05
And did a port where the 2 abandonned factories are.
I love this map.
With the Air Force base nearby, the shipping yard could be a Navy base of sorts with the Ship Building Factory as one of the key aspects of the build!
Thessia for sure, that city is far from done. Orchid Bay maybe till the end of the year I predict, we'll see!
@OVERCHARGEDEGG YESSSS for Thessia!! Feels bad for OB tho ;((
Each video blows my mind, how can you make a simple highway look so cool!
At first blush I thought a ruined old forestry port, from 100+ years ago when they primarily used water for lumber transport (subsequently replaced by rail). But I quite like the naval base idea as well.
In Martinez Ca, there is a park that was made out of the old port. That might be good for the newly opened “old port”
Egg! I recently built a festival area in my save and think that could be a fun idea for OB. Something of a miniature Glastonbury. Multiple stages, use of the parklife assets for camping, ferris wheel etc, if you make it a park area and properly gate it off you can generate crazy revenue, would love to see what you do
Love 81 tiles! You should include the road maintenance depot within the service plaza.
Cool 81 tiles! Keep it going!
Magnum opus is a fitting term, she continues to awe and inspire. Still a while til im up to date on this one egg but in so far she's beautiful mate. 😍
You're catching us! Hopefully you'll make the live farewell!
11:10 "Landstraße"
a fresh 81 tiles network infrastructure episode? YES PLEASE!!
Would love to see the abandoned cargo port turned into a leisure marina type location. Think it would be a good usage of the space! Also, blood for the blood god!
the old port / dockhard should in my opinion become a naval base
in the US I think they simply call it a divided highway
Yeaaah, 81 tiles! Like the dual carriageway and the rest stops!
In France you could call it "deux fois deux voies" (2x2) wich translate directly to 2 times 2 ways!
Reststops. Roundabouts and Trumpets, oh my!!!!!! Yes please!!!

Nice use of the Oblivion music. 😊
Hey Egg! I know it as a dual carriageway in Australia. Would you use the two way road though to reduce node count?
A high-sec prison on the peninsula in the river could be awesome
I seethe newly opened "abandoned" port as a ultra modern development with green cities apartments and some low rise housing. Something almost luxurious you could see somewhat far from the city.
I think the best use for that empty shipyard would be a Navy/Naval Base, specially considering how close it is from the Airforce base
:D
Edit: After reading the comments, Im happy others mentioned it as well c:
A suggestion mr egg, the rest area could do with some restrooms (maybe the city park ones) loving OB keep it up 😊😊
Oe you heard of the 35 or 36 lane highway in katy texas?
In India we just call it a bypass or a Outer Ring Road whose basic function is, as the name suggests bypass the city by linking two national/state highways through an outer end instead of going through the city.

Howdie OE from a very beautiful sunny Allenstown, NH. Northeast, USA where it's 73 degrees & mostly sunny and pleasant!
The duel carriage way you built reminds me of the A30 in Cornwall
Couldn't be happier with this news🎉🎉🎉
100% need to put a farm in that land between the motorway at 08:00
(M62 style)
Nice stuff, as always!
that junction in real life is a nightmare
I’d love to see some sort of scientific/secretive/R&D place with the high tech uniques and the treasure hunt uniques. I’ve been thinking of trying it but not got round to it
All my comments asking for a highway rest stop have paid off 😮 and it did not disappoint. Another egg master class 😊
Now a mountain sky resort. Also around the highway carriageway, a road into some rural town. That way you could have the the old highway road and the new effence highway connection.
Also would like to see a car tour and train tour someday
Connector Highway in Canada. Awesome prep work Egg.
imo there should be luxury housing or a mini las vegas with casinos and luxury hotels in the tiny cargo port area
Nicely done 😎👍
We all can agree on this one simply truth...We love us some Overcharged Egg....👉❤👈
