Time to embark on our next project: a Gadget Station. Most people have tons of gadgets laying around the house these days, and they all need to be charged. So my goal is to create a wall hanging cabinet that houses the electronics in a safe and organized fashion. An interesting point of interest with this project is that the recipient is the one and only, Leo Laporte (The Tech Guy).

As a 20+ year presenter I would give you an A+. I'm going to watch more of your work. Man, I wish you lived close to me; I'd be over at your shop all the time!

I love your videos. What so many other woodworkers fail to focus on is the design process, and the importance of researching design ideas and being inspired by what others have done. One of my art professors often said "You can't work from a vacuum." I look forward to seeing the rest of the Gadget Station!

I am pretty sure this guy and Norm Abram would create an unstoppable woodworking team that would conquer the world.

Getting involved in making a piece like this comes down to getting some time under your belt. Build up your skill level so that you can make every component, then simply put the components together. Im over simplifying, but I dont have much room to work with here, lol. Time invested is skewed because of all the filming I did. Without filming, I suspect it would be approx. 3-4 weeks.

@aurfc2 Thanks man. I actually don't have detailed plans for this particular project. But most other projects we do, I will have plans for.

@SLLEWWG Hmm.....That sounds like a fun challenge. Rather than a jig, I might just calculate the appropriate angles and try to make the cuts as needed. I would likely use Sketchup to mock it all up and then try to get the machines set up as close as possible. The only jig I might use is a tapering jig for the tablesaw.

Those legs, on the picture of the cabinet you used as inspiration, remind me the center rib on the palm tree leaves. Here in Thailand, this is being used to make some casual furniture, like garden chair (sorry, I could not find a picture)

@norwegian1967 If you are talking about the torsion box assembly table, yes we have two videos on that. Not sure if I posted them here on TH-cam but you can always go to my website and look in the Projects section of the Video Archive.

@SLLEWWG Usually, if I do a jig video, I'll put it right into the video the jig is used in just to keep it simple.

A hot dog without ketchup is like a day without sunshine..... :)

To be honest, I would be more concerned about the bacteria on the street vendor's hot dog, lol. Hey, I'm from Trenton and I grew up with ketchup on my hot dogs. And that's just the way it is! :)

I guess this isn't related to this video but have you had the chance to play with the new PM1500 bandsaw. I'm die hard powermatic but I'm having a hard time plunking down $2800 on a saw that has no reviews online and nobody has it in stock to go physically take a look at. It's a tough decision when there are such good bandsaws out there.

You should use a fan to extract heat much more quicker than just some holes down the side

Mark (the Wood Whisperer), you asked why you should bother with putting locks and keys on the unit? You clearly don't have kids! :)

While I own a number of planes and saws, I don't really own any antique or vintage tools.
