14:20 The funniest thing about this interaction is because everyone’s mad for a different reason. Esam is mad because Byleth was up there in the first place. Marss is mad because he wanted too many Fire Emblem characters. Wadi’s mad because he doesn’t want Sora. It’s a funny interaction
@@G_yeezy Sora's never coming back in a limited Smash roster. He's an expensive Square Enix AND Disney character. Imagine how much they had to pay for the Mickey keychain alone lmao.
I think the original 12 characters are permanently in Smash at this point. Yes, the Smash team wanted to replace Jigglypuff and Ness in the past, but they ultimately decided not to. I doubt they would get rid of them now.
Is this a wishlist roster, iconic list, or a prediction roster? Because I'd have a completely different list for each. I think the original Smash 64 cast would likely stay in, if they don't want to stray too far for a new Smash. But, a wishlist is a completely different story.
Same, I get the argument of why not but if they've been around for so long a d have been in every Smash game, it just wouldn't feel like Smash without them. And if Ness's argument is irrelevancy, we might as well take out Falcon too. These characters have just been around too long for them to jet the boot now.
Lol. Way to little pokemon greninja and lucario would still be in the game. Nintendo would be stupid to not put them 2 of the most popular pokemon in..
@@BigFlex516 your not right there still both very relevant pokemon.. Greninja is still on of the most popular pokemon that did not change. You can look it up greninja was the most popular pokemon of 2020 and lucario was the second most popular.
I would like to pull up the fact that Greninja won the last Pokémon of the Year by an absolute landslide. Not to mention he won the Pokémon of the Year before that too in Japan. Greninja is so popular to the point where there are groups of people who are genuinely upset he’s not in the modern games or anime as a hyper prominent role.
That’s fair, but I counter you this. Walk up to random people on the street and show them both Pokémon and ask for their names. Every single person who can name Greninja will also be able to name Pikachu. I just can’t say the same if it was reversed.
@@slam6802 You are comparing based on a different factor. He's saying that Greninja won the Pokémon of the Year, I'm assuming that those who voted are fans or at least interested in Pokémon franchise. I can also counter what you said with this: Those same people can easily name Bulbasaur, Pidgey or Rattata instead of Greninja. Does that make them more iconic than Greninja ? It's up to you to believe so but I think it's just purely based on seniority (and marketing) and I rather give my trust on someone who knows well its subject than a random in general.
Gotta agree, you can't only hold Pokemon to the 'most recognizable from a random bystander' standard. Otherwise we'd be seeing Goombas and Koopas in the roster.
Roy and Falco being in there is a strange decision. In the actual Fire Emblem series Roy is not a fleshed out or interesting character, and is from a mediocre game. Like Falcon he's basically a Smash character, but wasn't iconic enough to be in Brawl or Smash 4 outside of DLC. Falco is not an iconic character. It's only because of his prevalence in Melee that Smash players hold him in high regard.
I do think it’s weird that they took the most represented FE series in smash(awakening, with 3 character, thought two of them are echoes.) and make it unrepresented.
I agree and would ad snake to the list, not because I don't like the character but because if we only have 36 characters, the number of 3rd party should be really limmited to keep the roster well balanced. I would also replace byleth by daraen, byleth got not style and his specials are boring, while daraen has one of the coolest design and his moves, while they shouldn't be ressource based, are unic enough and make a good moveset.
Yeah Roy should be out be out. If too many FE reps is a law in smash then it should be a awakening character that replaces him. Marth is too iconic as the first lord, Ike is regularly in the top of the popularity polls in all FE, awakening saved the series so robin or lucina get in, and byleth would represent the latest FE game that gets replaced when a new game comes out.
It's big in Japan but it never really made waves outside it. I think the fact that Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy got representation before Dragon Quest says something too.
@@sadgeman4589 I mean fire emblem in smash is a huge meme but I'm here for it because I've played every game in the series (or it's remake at least, man I'm not playing fe1 or 2 that shit is clunky as hell) except 3 and its remake so I'm not complaining lmao
@@sadgeman4589 DQ11 had yet to release at the time of smash 4 while FF7R was revealed the same year Cloud joined Smash, so Cloud was likely chosen as promotion. Square Enix was also clearly conservative with smash reps before ultimate since cloud only got 2 songs, so it makes sense Hero was released in the beginning of the first fighters pass.
Haha, right. They should make ZSS the reward for winning. I can't remember if SSB has done that before, but it would be a fun tribute to the actual games if they did that.
I like how they talk about ryu being iconic for his genre then immediately boot out hero, who comes from a series that made the rpg genre the way it is lol
We are talking about character here, not game series. Ryu is a super iconic character, everyone that have a slight idea of the video game landscape know who he is, Hero is just not as iconic as his franchise is. I think the same thing about minecraft, as super iconic game and one of my favourite, but outside of the smashbase, who gives a f**** about Steve.
@@artimist0315 I think a testament to your point in the series being iconic not the character is the fact the character is 4 characters in one with his skins. Not just color swaps, but skins because its the series and not the character.
If your gonna tell me that if they had to cut an original. I honestly think it should be ness don’t get me wrong I don’t hate him at all but I just don’t think his game is popular enough to keep him afloat and unlike captain falcon ness’s identity isn’t made from smash or at the very least isn’t as apparent as captain falcon. Puff is just to iconic for the series being the first joke character and her influence in melee. But still I think if there is gonna be a new game all 12 SHOULD be in but if they had to cut one my guess is ness
@@IdentificationBlank but there was already pikachu and stuff and yet out of all gen 1 pokemon, they decide puff. I say she even barely got in and other pokemon like mewtwo should have been part of the og roster. Ness is more iconic than puff in my opinion

Without a doubt he is the most popular pokemon in Japan according the the latest pole I saw which was sometime last year I think but, it was above pika and zard
You guys do realize that Greninja was voted the most popular Pokémon of all time TWICE by the fans right? There’s no way in hell Greninja is getting cut.
Yeah Lucario is also one of the most popular Pokémon but I think he might be too unpopular for the team to bring him back in this hypothetical 30 character roster
The life hack to get more characters is to include ZSS in Samus like Brawl did, same for merged Sheik and Zelda, and you have a tier to notate that, then you can fit more actual characters.
Put every single Fire Emblem character on the same character. Starting with Marth, press Down-B and rotate the stick to one of the 9 directions to switch to a different character.

For the OG 12, even if any of them dont really deserve to stay or need to be removed, they’re gonna stay. Because it’s the OG 12. Sure, Yoshi needs a rework, DK needs buffs, and Falcon needs to be in something other than smash, but otherwise pretty good list.
@@thomasburns9018 understandable, but that would mean messing up the OG 12 like I stated above. For Ganon, reworking the Smashes was a good start, they just need to keep going. Make him even less of a Falcon clone.
Keeping a blue bird who hasn’t gotten a new game in a hot minute vs the most requested fighter with the added bonus of Disney which in itself is a achievement, also a bit salty with puff since they were one of the originals
I would love to see Nintendo take ALL the echo fighters and either get rid of them all together or revamp them with their own move set making them NOT echoes anymore.
I still don't understand why echos aren't just different costumes. Make Dr. Mario a Mario skin, make Dark pit a pit skin, have a Medusa skin for palu, daisy skin for peach. Such an easy solution yet they've never done it
I kind of really like some of the echos. Like Lucina, Ken, and Chrom are cool cause they play different versus their counter parts (and I’d honestly move Dr Mario, Pichu, and one of the other links to echo at least). The other echos though…yeah they pretty much are just skins. :/
@@parkerjowers7097 even though Dr Mario has a similar move set Mario he's still WAY different from Mario. He's slower, and hits much harder for one. The Dr is not an echo.
I think Shulk is guaranteed to stay for the same reason as Inkling. Xenoblade is a new up and coming Nintendo franchise, and Shulk is the face of the franchise. And Pyra/Mythra could easily be replaced with Elma or maybe someone from Xenoblade 3. I also think Terry stays because SNK fighting games are the reason Smash exists, and SNK was very generous with Sakurai adding a lot their characters and music, so it’s most likely licensing isn’t an issue.
My thought process would be to keep certain character archetypes preserved to some extent. For instance, you need either Robin or Hero for the magic swordsman and resource character, and you need Puff or Sora (or buff Kirby) to fit the super floaty role.
Swap Sora and Greninja for Sheik and Ike and you’re perfect. Like ESAM said, he’s Sora. He’s literally the most fan requested character. Also I think Greninja’s popularity was underestimated here, he’s one of the most popular Pokémon ever.
Eh, I think Sora's probably the first to go when vonsidering the next Smash. Getting him in this game was literally a lucky encounter and probably multiple hours of negotiation. Sora got in by the skin of his teeth and I think it's pretty safe to say he's probably not coming again no matter how many requests he got.
Tbh, if anything, if/when nintendo makes a new console, they will just add ssbu to it, but will call it ssbu deluxe and will keep all the characters including dlc, and will just add new characters. If they intend to do that then they will probably go until they can't anymore or someone at nintendo or Sakurai decides to make another one. Personally I think the keeping ssbu and just adding characters with new consoles is a pretty good idea, and it would probably save them some money as well.
Honestly I think Greninja, Wario, Jigglypuff, and Robin should’ve been much more heavily considered. Greninja feels too popular to just say “nah he’s gone”, Wario very iconic, Jigglypuff has the 64 seniority, and Robin is objectively one of the most unique Fire Emblem characters in the game
The amount of games Monolith Soft helps Nintendo with is staggering both Pyra/Mythra & Shulk stay. That studio is way too important for them not to have both characters in.
Not Having Pit or a Xenoblade Rep is a big mistake. There's no way they would put out another smash game without representing Kid Icaruss or Xenoblade, and honestly Min Min should be in to represent Arms, which is one of there newer Ips.
One thing I think a lot of people forget when they talk about how Smash supposed to the big Nintendo collaboration and should have more Nintendo characters is that Bandai Namco made the game... Nintendo published and owns the IP yes, but the people actually putting the work into the game were Sakurai and the team at Bandai therefore the collaboration choices should rest more in their hands than anyone's since they're putting in the leg work.
I'd like them to do like 15 characters they'd like to see added to smash, maybe everyone could have one or two picks that nobody else has to agree on tok.
I’m honestly glad they decided not to just cut all but 2 FE characters, I love all of their characters & I hate that it seems like soo many hate them, my favorites are Lucina, Chrom, & Corrin, Byleth is fun too, & Ike is great, & Roy just feels soo aggressive & it’s fun, I don’t really use Marth or Robin cause they’re hard to use & not that good
Let’s all be honest, the solution to the fire emblem character problem is costumes. Just pull a straight bowser junior and make every “color” a different character for Marth. Then we can get Lucina, Roy, Chrom, and possibly others without taking up extra slots in the roster. They could do 2 colors per character and not add more characters, or throw in some like Alm, Sigurd, Erika, possibly Ike if he isn’t gonna be a separate character, etc. Then, maybe, just maybe, there could be some different kinds of FE characters; axes, lances, mounted (admittedly unlikely and probably hard to implement well), tomes, etc. Please?
For the next Smash game, I def expect a way smaller roster with a overhauled moveset and maybe some new mechanics Mario could have Cappy, with its own mechanics, and say the Spin from Galaxy. Adult Link will be way more like a fusion of BOTW1 and 2. Samus will likely be a fusion of Dread and Prime Triology/ Prime 4 All I personally hope for is that Joker or a Persona Rep stays, along with a Xenoblade rep, and Sora
Bro imagine if Mario could do a small galaxy-spin hop after using his double jump. Dont know if it should have a hitbox, but it would be a nice nod and cool unique mechanic
I definitly agree with the smaller roster, the game has too many characters, but not that much less. I would prefer the power of the star over cappy and flood, I think both are a bit too complex for Mario, which should stay an easy to play jack-o'-all. I really, really disagree with the link one, I don't like what they did in ultimate, getting rid of 30 years of Zelda history just to reference one game because it's new a did well doesn't make sens, and overall I find the character less fun this way, it was my main in 4 and now he's just not fun to play. Having the hookshot and the gale/ melee bomerang as well as reverting the frame data changes would be necessary for me, as well as bringing the real design back and not the wish version we have in ultimate. BOTW link should be a skin and I've nothing against bringing back remote bomb and making the shield surfing a dash attack, since his new one is too similar to f tilt. I think the same thing would apply to samus, they could ad one or two ref from dread like the uppercut and slide, but her special represent her perfectly, exept for charged shot which is one of the most iconic smash move. I like joker and think he should stay, but in this particular set up there is no way he prioritize over any of the 36 characters, same thing for sora. I think the Xeno rep should be shulk, his game did better and the the oversexualization of pythra makes me extremely unconfortable. they also have really basic moves.
I wouldn't want to narrow the current roster down to 40 because I don't disagree with any that stayed but also K.Rool deserved to stay in and I'd want at least 1 Xeno rep
well, more realistically, the roster wouldn't go under 60 character, though I think going under 70/75 is necessary for the franchise. Like some of the character they got rid of should obviously stay in a realistic setting. That was more for the challenge. I think they could have replaced steve by k rool, snake by lucario/mewtwo/meta knight and put sheik in the marss tier so we can have room for shulk.
@@forhisneutralspecialhewiel2295 I'm aware. I was trying to condense all the franchises with only one character into other categories. Yoshi is still closely tied with Mario despite also having a separate series, whereas Wario is separate aside from Mario spinoffs, hence my grouping of those two characters.
I kind of agree with most picks, it's really hard to narrow it down so much, there are so many iconic characters. Tbh tho I'm not sure about the FE part, wouldn't cutting Roy make more sense ? He definetely plays nothing like Marth, but his moveset is visually really similar and I'm pretty sure he is a lord like Marth, while characters like Byleth and Robin would represent different stuff from the series. Also I wouldn't put Sheik over K rool or a Xenoblade character, She is cool but with such a limited roster I think Zelda, Link and Ganon perfectly sum up the series already
One thing I wanted to mention is that P/M should be broken into two characters and only one gets to stay. I personally think if that happens, then Pyra would get in over Mythra.
i loved to see them do this concept again (36 character limit) but decide the characters based on what would make the game the most fun/balanced. Instead of only thinking about video game rep, they would instead think of playstyle
You should Merge Sheik into Zelda that way you can fit more characters. I'd also drop Falco, Bayonetta, Roy, Ike, Diddy, and Olimar. With those slots dropped, you can now pick up Robin, Mewtwo, Pyra/Mythra (or Shulk,) Rosalina, K.Rool, Mii (Merge all 3 of them,) and Greninja. Robin represents the rebirth of Fire Emblem and the MC, while Byleth would be the modern Fire Emblem rep (you can't customize Byleth in the games so you'd still need something to represent them. Mewtwo is the stand-in for Pokémon's villain and represents legendaries. Pyra/Mythra or Shulk for reasons listed above Rosalina represents the modern Mario games while being fairly popular herself and having a whole set of games based around her appearance. King K .Rool because if we cut Diddy, we don't have enough DK characters and I believe having the villain instead of a side protagonist works better. The Miis are iconic for video games and will represent the Wii as a whole. Merging them will cut down slots. Greninja works as the final Pokémon slot (Pokémon deserves to have at least 4 slots.) Acts as the modern rep for Pokémon and is the #1 Pokémon voted as people's favorites.
Personaly dissagree with banjo kazooie being immediate removed. They can easily get a re-work to have better moves+frame data. Just look how ganon and game and watch changed from their first instalments
I guess I would say that Joker and Sora for them being probably alot of people's iconic trailer reveal might make their way into the game. Joker is from Persona 5 which is a spinoff of Shin Megami Tensei and i do see the point of that. But i do assume that Joker for being how iconic and how much of a giant deal is reveal would be would make it and the same goes for sora
My Fire Emblem picks would be Marth: First protagonist and perfect example of the Lord archetype Robin: Representation of the tactic side of the game, consumable weapons and usage of magic Byleth: Representation for the weapon triangle and usage of more than a sword Those three are perfect to me. Maybe Ike could pass too, but no more.
It'll never happen, but my ideal sequel to Ultimate (where everyone is here) would be on a much smaller scale, and EVERYONE would be reworked. Mario's Fludd is irrelevant, he should have something pertaining to his more recent game (Cappy, maybe?), Link could be even further redesigned by implementing more of his Shiekah Slate toolkit in his his special moves, and so on and so forth. No one should play the same. It would be cool and fresh and different, and if people didn't like it, they could always play Ultimate.
Make cape down-B and then side-B can be Mario tossing Cappy out like a boomerang, but if you tap B again Cappy stops in place and you can jump on him. Or just give him Tornado back as a down-B and change the animation to a scaled-down version of the Cappy spin from Odyssey.
The new Smash Game should have the main Heroes and their Respective Villains: Mario/Luigi/Yoshi/Peach - Bowser DK/Diddy - K.Rool Samus - Ridley Link/Zelda/Sheik - Ganon Cloud - Sephiroth Fox/Falco - Wolf Kirby/MK - DDD
they said no to the first nintendo character (G&W) and yes to a character who was gone from the previous game (Snake) is this list just which characters you like and which you don't?
Dang, Square lost all of its Ultimate characters 😂. I would’ve kept Hero judging of Japan’s overall reaction to the character. (I love Sora, but it would be probably hell to get him back)
i mean square is starting a new approach to video game partnerships which is what got sora into smash so i dont think it should harder than it was before
I mean it kinda make sens, sephiroth is cool but far from the main character, Sora is a disney charatcer and if we had to wait this much for him, we can live without him, and for hero, the character is not that iconic (and honestly is super ugly), Dragon Quest is super important in the gaming industry, but hero as a character ... not really. Cloud is really iconic, super cool , everyone play him, he's fun, and from the most iconic game in an iconic franchise that outshine every past and future entries.
I think you guys are really underestimating the popularity of Dragon Quest. Along with Final Fantasy it's basically the inspiration for all other JRPGs. Also I definitely think Roy would be cut, he wasn't in Brawl or the base game of Smash 4.
@@byronlyons3548 Nintendo doesn't decide what characters to add based on popular demand alone. Nobody asked for Corrin or Piranha Plant, but they added them anyway. imo the reason they added roy to smash 4 was because a lot of his animations could just be copied over from Marth.
@@DaRealJake So was Roy but he got cut. And remember. Jiggs only made it into Brawl after it got delayed, she was cut otherwise. She's not as big of a priority as you think. Especially when many Smash staples will have bigger priority.
I don't think it makes sense to cut out all of the Awakening characters. The game revived the Fire Emblem franchise and is probably the most popular one. Take out Byleth or Roy and put Robin in
Man fe fans are so unbelievably sick of hearing about awakening saving the franchise when most players would rather play fe4 or 5 on original hardware, and trust me that's saying something. That game was so dogshit the highest difficulty put me to sleep
Lmao people always forget how huge dq is in Japan. The new dragon quest is gonna be darker, and have the ff7 remake battle system so if there's gonna be another smash game, rest assured hero will be there.
Many are talking about who should deserve to stay, but here are ones that I think should be added to the roster, least to best: Angry Birds: They would have to find a way for them to be able to to things without a slingshot, but would be awesome to see it if they managed to. Waddle Dee: Basic character but seeing what it can do it could do pretty well. Lucario (reworked): The moveset it has right now is boring, in the next games it should get moves like bone rush and close combat. Marx: Would be very interesting to see in future smash games. Decidueye (sorry if I spelt it wrong): The ranged moves it mostly has would be super cool. :) Waluigi: Not on the top of the list because, while it would be super cool to see it I feel like it should be introduced as a dlc for big reaction and so that it would be overpowered and stay that way for a long time. Absol: A very good pokemon, there are already enough but some (like Absol) are unique with moves like megahorn while also having moves like shadow ball. Scizor: My absolutely favorite pokemon and has so much potential, it has everything a smash character would ever need (being made of steel, having wings, and lots of mobility) and it looks cool. :) Anyways that is my list, plz recommend some characters for me to also give opinions on :)
What are your thoughts on the following: Toad (with Toadette as an alt), Dixie Kong, Impa (Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity), Ghirahim (Skyward Sword), Dr. Eggman, Zero (Mega Man X) and Alucard (Castlevania)?
If i had to shrink the FE cast in 3~4 characters Stays: -Marth -Robin -Byleth -Ike (if there is room) Leaves: -Lucina/Chrom (Robin is an Awakening rep) -Roy (First appearance isn't even a FE game) -Corrin (lol)
I'd say that I concur mostly with your selection, Roy and Yoshi were the only ones I'd take out for maybe Robin and Pit respectively. Though, I do have some ideas for a few of the 'See ya' character: Make the Echo Characters (Daisy, Lucina, Dark Samus, and maybe Ken) have the Alph treatment (make them skins), give ZSS available through the Smash Ball like in Brawl, and give Inklings some Octoling skins!
Marss has the right idea about too many FE characters, just the wrong pick. Historically, Nintendo puts in the “legacy” characters from the previous consoles and then promotes the new character for the next game (Brawl had Marth/Roy and got Ike, Sm4sh had those 3 and got Corrin, Ult got Byleth). Thus, the FE reps would be Marth, Roy, Ike, Lucina, Chrom, Corrin, and then probably a DLC promoting Fire Emblem: Six Apartments. Anything else is copium
I can see them get rid of pyra mythra and put in rex and one of them just because I think all the movesets will be mixed up and the gameplay will probably change too.
Here's my list of who needs to go: Sheik: Hasn't been in a Zelda game for ages, needs to go. Ice Climbers: Too irrelevant. Dr. Mario: Just a Mario semi-clone. Falco: Too similar to Fox. Young Link: Link semi-clone. Pichu: Pikachu semi-clone. Roy: Marth semi-clone. Pokemon Trainer: Too many Pokemon. Ike: Another FE character. Lucas: Ness semi-clone (I'd rather make him an echo fighter). Zero Suit Samus: She's just Samus without armor. Lucario: Too many Pokemon. Wolf: Too similar to Fox. Toon Link: Another Link. Wii Fit Trainer: Too irrelevant to stay. Palutena: Another irrelevant character. Rosalina: Too many Mario characters. Duck Hunt: Hasn't been in a game for ages. Bowser Jr.: Another irrelevant Mario character. Corrin: Too much FE. Isabelle: Just a Villager semi-clone. Chrom: FE. Incineroar: Too much Pokemon. Piranha Plant: Just a pathetic joke character. Min Min: From an irrelevant game. Sephiroth: I'd rather replace him with another FF character from a game that isn't 7. Pyra/Mythra: Shulk is enough. Also I hate them. So with that, here's my list of who gets to stay: Mario: Mario, Luigi, Peach (with Daisy as an echo), Bowser Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, King K. Rool Zelda: Link, Zelda, Ganondorf Metroid: Samus (with Dark Samus as an echo), Ridley Kirby: Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight Pokemon: Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Greninja Fire Emblem: Marth (with Lucina as an echo), Robin, Byleth Other Nintendo: Yoshi, Fox, Ness, Captain Falcon, Mr. Game & Watch, Pit, R.O.B., Villager, Shulk, Inkling Third-party: Snake, Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu (with Ken as an echo), Cloud, Bayonetta, Simon (with Richter as an echo), Joker, Hero, Banjo, Terry, Steve, Kazuya, Sora
>Piranha Plant being a pathetic joke. Piranha Plant was a masterpiece cause watching Waluigi fans crying was really exquisite. Besides that, Byleth, Villager/Isabelle or Shulk/Aegis are fine.
While I don't have a personal connection to the Castlevania games, I think Simon should be up there for being a Konami rep and for being part of a very influential game series. If I had to remove someone to put him in, it would probably be Falco (there is already a Star Fox rep and idk how influential that game was) or Sheik (there are already 3 reps from Zelda that are more important to the series).
I personally think that Sephiroth, Terry, hero and kazuya should stay because they add a lot to the game and are super iconic in different parts of the world Others who should stay perhaps would be Joker, Pit, K Rool and Robin (instead of Ike) since they also bring something different to the entire cast In the same way I would like Sonic, Ganondorf, Samus and Banjo to be there but with a complete redesign of their gameplay since the current one I don't feel does justice to what the characters mean
I think a cool idea to help with the "cutting favorite characters" issue is if Smash 6 brings a lot of the cut characters back as Assist Trophies or whatever the new gimmick to replace the Spirits is gonna be, rather than just as more Mii costumes, assuming the Miis return at all. This way, they can save DLC slots for new characters and some returning favorites from previous games, while not putting too much extra work on the developers. Though for obvious reasons, the Square boys and Steve are definitely returning as DLC and not just as Assists (though whether or not Sora makes it back at all is a whole other issue). That said, I get the feeling a Banjo Assist would be quite terrifying if he, or specifically Kazooie, just spammed egg grenades everywhere. A Kazuya Assist would be a guaranteed grab on an opponent. Pyra & Mythra would still share an Assist Trophy slot and it could be random which one comes out. Maybe Rex would be the one calling them. Ironically Min Min wouldn't be anything special or even sucks as an Assist and people would just forget about her, hahaha.
Smash 4 had 58 characters total so I think if they cut down the roster in the next smash game it’d be somewhere in the 50s for the base roster. 36 is way too small at this point of the series imo

Out of all of the FE characters to keep, honestly I’d say prob Byleth and Robin. Awakening and 3H have carried the series so hard from what it was. Personally I’d rather have Ike because PoR and RD are my 2 favorite games, but Awakening and 3H just did so much for the franchise Not to mention that Roy/Marth/Lucina/Chrom and even Ike are kinda just generic sword characters, and Corrin is from a black sheep game. Robin has a very interesting and unique kit, and so does Byleth
Half of 90 characters is basically 45 characters, lol. So we can technically add in 9 more characters for the next smash game, and here's who I think should be in the guaranteed slot as well: 1.Sora- was literally added in Ultimate at the last second, most beloved character as DLC/ #1 top choice as most popular, with Nintendo and Disney's relationships getting stronger already. 2.Terry- a legacy character that made Smash be created in the first place. Had it not been for Fatal Fury/ K.O.F.'s existence, Super Smash Bros. wouldn't be here as we all know it. 3.Kazuya- Sakurai himself wanted Tekken to be in Smash, but couldn't in Smash 4 due to the hard moveset they had to do. But because technology has evolved over the past few years, its now possible. Plus, Bandai Namco literally developed Smash 3DS, Wii U, and Ultimate, so its 100% guaranteed that Namco will also work on the next smash game. And if Pac-Man is gonna return, might as well have Kazuya back. 4.Mr.Game & Watch- you cannot tell me that Pac-Man is gonna stay due to his iconicness, but yet Game and Watch was the first gaming character to have ever existed, not to mention that hes the oldest character in Nintendo's history. If anything, he should've already been in the guaranteed slot already. 5.Ken- I mean, if you're gonna have Ryu returned, wouldn't it make sense to have Ken come back with Ryu as well? Also his characteristics/moveset is more unique and different than Ryu's, so he would even be considered as a separate character imo. 6.Shulk- he's literally like the face of Xenoblade. The franchise alone has been growing over the course of 10 years, not to mention that there was alot of rumors that Xenoblade 3 is gonna be having an announcement soon either at the next Nintendo Direct, or even at E3 2022. 7.Hero- Dragon Quest in Japan is CRAZY HUGE in Japan, much like how Banjo-Kazooie is in thr west. The only major difference is that Hero is fun to play as, weras Banjo-Kazooie he has one of the worst movesets in smash. Plus, the music composer thats in charge of Dragon Quest passed away recently, so it makes it more easier for Nintendo to get Hero (DQ 11, 3, 4, and 8) at least returned. 8.Joker- I feel like that he should stay, not just because that he was a suprising character, but the fact that Persona 5 is a huge game in the entire Persona franchise, even more than Persona 4. Also, Sakurai even made a special request that he himself wants Joker to be in smash, and he was right with everyone loving him in the game. Not to mention that we don't even know how long its gonna take before Atlus makes an announcement at least for Persona 6. 9.Pit and Palutena- one of the most iconic SNES games back in the older days, and considering that Sakurai also made Kid Icarus: Uprising, he was wanting to plan on making a sequel, but couldn't due to how little time he had over other projects, and how much development it would take to even get it started on. So thats the other 9 characters that would also be part of the guaranteed slot too. *Also wanting to add something, if we can break the rules a little bit and add like a couple characters, imo I would say Little Mac and Simon/ Richter (they don't count as separate characters because they're echos of each other. So its either you put both of them in the next smash game, or both of them out. Theres no maybe or 1 stays and the other goes.)
Absoluely agree on Steve. Could use a bit of reworking to make him a bit less lame, like making mining less important, minecart less powerful, limiting blocks at once to 4 in case Sonix gets a hold of him. If those changes make him bad, buff his movement speed a bit or his attack reach.
I don’t think you can make Steve less lame, he camps because camping is heavily rewarded in ultimate, if shielding and bait and punish was less rewarding then everyone would play less campy, but also if you wanna keep him good but not broken make mining slower but tools last much longer

It’s like you said, they’re iconic smash characters like falcon. They’ll make it on that premise alone.
I meant Robin, daraen is his name in french.
Getting rid of Hero that quickly is an odd decision, Dragon Quest has been the most iconic traditional JRPG franchise for decades, especially in Japan

Nah take her out and put Raven Beak or a new character fron Metroid Prime 4 if that or a new Smash ever happen.

Agreed, they basically made BOTW not to mention xeno is basically Nintendos first party version of ff at this point.
Honestly I would not mind if over half the characters get cut for the next Smash but the new ones that they do add would have to be stellar.
I’m honestly glad they decided not to just cut all but 2 FE characters, I love all of their characters & I hate that it seems like soo many hate them, my favorites are Lucina, Chrom, & Corrin, Byleth is fun too, & Ike is great, & Roy just feels soo aggressive & it’s fun, I don’t really use Marth or Robin cause they’re hard to use & not that good
Okay, as a mother/earthbound fan... ness stays not due to popularity, but being in the original 8
That means Jigglypuff is in due to this
Yeah.
Please?
Ain’t no way nintendo boutta pay the Disney price tag for sora again
For the next Smash game, I def expect a way smaller roster with a overhauled moveset and maybe some new mechanics
Mario could have Cappy, with its own mechanics, and say the Spin from Galaxy. Adult Link will be way more like a fusion of BOTW1 and 2. Samus will likely be a fusion of Dread and Prime Triology/ Prime 4
All I personally hope for is that Joker or a Persona Rep stays, along with a Xenoblade rep, and Sora

Pyra/Mythra or Shulk for reasons listed above
Rosalina represents the modern Mario games while being fairly popular herself and having a whole set of games based around her appearance.
My Fire Emblem picks would be
Marth: First protagonist and perfect example of the Lord archetype
Robin: Representation of the tactic side of the game, consumable weapons and usage of magic
Byleth: Representation for the weapon triangle and usage of more than a sword
Those three are perfect to me.
@@Kyro4Productions omg, Cappy acting as a platform would be so sick. imagine the creativity one could implement in their play style.
@@very_gouda
how falcon gonna be different ? he gonna have his dumbass gun he never uses ?
@@Kyro4Productions Cape Down B and he can actually fly with it.
@@esrever6948 shit, that thing really do stay chillin in the holster, don’t it? 😂😂
The new Smash Game should have the main Heroes and their Respective Villains:
Mario/Luigi/Yoshi/Peach - Bowser
DK/Diddy - K.Rool
Samus - Ridley
Link/Zelda/Sheik - Ganon
Cloud - Sephiroth
Fox/Falco - Wolf
Kirby/MK - DDD
they said no to the first nintendo character (G&W) and yes to a character who was gone from the previous game (Snake)
is this list just which characters you like and which you don't?
Dang, Square lost all of its Ultimate characters 😂. I would’ve kept Hero judging of Japan’s overall reaction to the character. (I love Sora, but it would be probably hell to get him back)
Cloud is still in there
i mean square is starting a new approach to video game partnerships which is what got sora into smash so i dont think it should harder than it was before
@@glitchx0861 Well... Sora is Disney... Idk the specifics but we can be sure that Disney holds the cards when it comes to Sora
@@glitchx0861 the issue with getting sora in was never square enix, its Disney that technically owns the character.
But literally brought to smash 4 because of popular demand
@@lifetake3103 Roy's our boy
@@lifetake3103 I'm pretty sure everyone would have preferred if they brought back a character like Snake or Wolf instead of Roy.
@@silvergalaxia8538 If that were the case, they would have been brought back in on Smash 4 instead. But they weren't, were they?
@@byronlyons3548 Nintendo doesn't decide what characters to add based on popular demand alone. Nobody asked for Corrin or Piranha Plant, but they added them anyway.
imo the reason they added roy to smash 4 was because a lot of his animations could just be copied over from Marth.
Terry is 100% staying. Dude helped inspire Smash, hello?
Olimar over Shulk is a god damn atrocity and y'all know it...
Poor Puff. I really think all the original 12 will and should stay.
Puff has been very irrelevant to Pokemon. The fact that she got at risk of being cut shows how unlikely she is.
@@nuibaba280 she may not be relevant in Pokemon, but she’s a staple in smash. Kinda like falcon.
Take out Byleth or Roy and put Robin in
Three Houses is by far the best sold game.
yeah roy really doesnt make sense
@@HoshiArt to be fair he was in with Marth as the first two fire emblos
Man fe fans are so unbelievably sick of hearing about awakening saving the franchise when most players would rather play fe4 or 5 on original hardware, and trust me that's saying something. That game was so dogshit the highest difficulty put me to sleep
@@aetherius6221 lmao
Lmao people always forget how huge dq is in Japan. The new dragon quest is gonna be darker, and have the ff7 remake battle system so if there's gonna be another smash game, rest assured hero will be there.
I personally think greninja would stay because he is the most popular Pokémon by a large margin
Greninja is 100% in he was the most popular Pokémon back in like 2018 by a huge margin
I feel like there will 100% be a Xenoblade rep next game with how much Nintendo wants to push that series now
I find it funny they decided it was logical to have 4 Fire Emblem characters and no Xenoblade characters. They did it for the Smash memes.
I'd be fine with a new Xenoblade rep as long as they don't make it a fucking annoyance like Pissra
Many are talking about who should deserve to stay, but here are ones that I think should be added to the roster, least to best:
Angry Birds:
They would have to find a way for them to be able to to things without a slingshot, but would be awesome to see it if they managed to.
Waddle Dee:
Basic character but seeing what it can do it could do pretty well.
Lucario (reworked):
The moveset it has right now is boring, in the next games it should get moves like bone rush and close combat.
Marx:
Would be very interesting to see in future smash games.
Decidueye (sorry if I spelt it wrong):
The ranged moves it mostly has would be super cool. :)
Waluigi:
Not on the top of the list because, while it would be super cool to see it I feel like it should be introduced as a dlc for big reaction and so that it would be overpowered and stay that way for a long time.
Absol:
A very good pokemon, there are already enough but some (like Absol) are unique with moves like megahorn while also having moves like shadow ball.
Scizor:
My absolutely favorite pokemon and has so much potential, it has everything a smash character would ever need (being made of steel, having wings, and lots of mobility) and it looks cool. :)
Anyways that is my list, plz recommend some characters for me to also give opinions on :)
Byleth and many other 'almost new' characters are likely to be replaced by main characters from newer installments
If i had to shrink the FE cast in 3~4 characters
Stays:
-Marth
-Robin
-Byleth
-Ike (if there is room)
Leaves:
-Lucina/Chrom (Robin is an Awakening rep)
-Roy (First appearance isn't even a FE game)
-Corrin (lol)
I'd say that I concur mostly with your selection, Roy and Yoshi were the only ones I'd take out for maybe Robin and Pit respectively. Though, I do have some ideas for a few of the 'See ya' character: Make the Echo Characters (Daisy, Lucina, Dark Samus, and maybe Ken) have the Alph treatment (make them skins), give ZSS available through the Smash Ball like in Brawl, and give Inklings some Octoling skins!
@2fast 4u Same as the Jigglypuff, so...
Ngl, don't think Pit should come back
Yoshi is iconic and from the golden boy: Mario's franchise. No shot is he getting thrown out.
That's actually a fair trade, Sakurai literally only cut Rex because of time constraints.
Here's my list of who needs to go:
Sheik:
Hasn't been in a Zelda game for ages, needs to go.
Ice Climbers:
Too irrelevant.
Dr. Mario:
Just a Mario semi-clone.
Falco:
Too similar to Fox.
Young Link:
Link semi-clone.
Pichu:
Pikachu semi-clone.
Roy:
Marth semi-clone.
Pokemon Trainer:
Too many Pokemon.
Ike:
Another FE character.
Lucas:
Ness semi-clone (I'd rather make him an echo fighter).
Zero Suit Samus:
She's just Samus without armor.
Lucario:
Too many Pokemon.
Wolf:
Too similar to Fox.
Toon Link:
Another Link.
Wii Fit Trainer:
Too irrelevant to stay.
Palutena:
Another irrelevant character.
Rosalina:
Too many Mario characters.
Duck Hunt:
Hasn't been in a game for ages.
Bowser Jr.:
Another irrelevant Mario character.
Corrin:
Too much FE.
Isabelle:
Just a Villager semi-clone.
Chrom:
FE.
Incineroar:
Too much Pokemon.
Piranha Plant:
Just a pathetic joke character.
Min Min:
From an irrelevant game.
Sephiroth:
I'd rather replace him with another FF character from a game that isn't 7.
Pyra/Mythra:
Shulk is enough. Also I hate them.
So with that, here's my list of who gets to stay:
Mario: Mario, Luigi, Peach (with Daisy as an echo), Bowser
Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, King K. Rool
Zelda: Link, Zelda, Ganondorf
Metroid: Samus (with Dark Samus as an echo), Ridley
Kirby: Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight
Pokemon: Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Greninja
Fire Emblem: Marth (with Lucina as an echo), Robin, Byleth
Other Nintendo: Yoshi, Fox, Ness, Captain Falcon, Mr. Game & Watch, Pit, R.O.B., Villager, Shulk, Inkling
Third-party: Snake, Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu (with Ken as an echo), Cloud, Bayonetta, Simon (with Richter as an echo), Joker, Hero, Banjo, Terry, Steve, Kazuya, Sora
>Piranha Plant being a pathetic joke.
Piranha Plant was a masterpiece cause watching Waluigi fans crying was really exquisite. Besides that, Byleth, Villager/Isabelle or Shulk/Aegis are fine.
@@hakirayleigh Plant's addition was funny at first but then it got old
@@forhisneutralspecialhewiel2295 Facts, it should've been Toad.
Snake is Konami, by the way.
@@Xeconis oh.
Well then let's get a SECOND one!
Marss: Pyra Mythra cater to weirdos.
The weirdo in question: Cosmos
AYYYY don't call out my boy Cosmos like that
I personally think that Sephiroth, Terry, hero and kazuya should stay because they add a lot to the game and are super iconic in different parts of the world
Others who should stay perhaps would be Joker, Pit, K Rool and Robin (instead of Ike) since they also bring something different to the entire cast
In the same way I would like Sonic, Ganondorf, Samus and Banjo to be there but with a complete redesign of their gameplay since the current one I don't feel does justice to what the characters mean
I'd rather replace Sephiroth with another FF character that isn't from 7.
However I know next to nothing about FF so I don't know who should get in.
"Put Sonic up there too he's literally Sonic" 'Yeah... unfortunately" lmao
I can definitely see little Mac staying he's that guy he's an iconic guy that cam trow hands and along it fits with his story
11:26 out of context is amazing.
ESAM: "Do you have arms?"
WaDi: ".....No....."
😂😂🤣
Sora was the most requested character… how you not going to include him lol
I think they should remove all the irrelevant characters like Sheik or Ice Climbers to make space for more third-party characters
@@forhisneutralspecialhewiel2295 thats the worst quote I had heard
@@sandrocastanero3759 he is right tho. the worst characters imo are ness game and watch, duck hunt, ice climbers and pacman.

As long as Sakurai and Bandai Namco are in part of developing Smash, Kazuya and Terry are safe from the boot by default.
Sora instead of byleth was the right choice imo
Out of all of the FE characters to keep, honestly I’d say prob Byleth and Robin.
Awakening and 3H have carried the series so hard from what it was. Personally I’d rather have Ike because PoR and RD are my 2 favorite games, but Awakening and 3H just did so much for the franchise
Not to mention that Roy/Marth/Lucina/Chrom and even Ike are kinda just generic sword characters, and Corrin is from a black sheep game.
Robin has a very interesting and unique kit, and so does Byleth
Yall really kept 4 FE’s but not 1 Xenoblade 🤨
Aegis not making it doesn't surprise me but it does disappoint me.
Real talk robin is the most deserving of a spot over all the other fire emblem characters
Half of 90 characters is basically 45 characters, lol. So we can technically add in 9 more characters for the next smash game, and here's who I think should be in the guaranteed slot as well:
1.Sora- was literally added in Ultimate at the last second, most beloved character as DLC/ #1 top choice as most popular, with Nintendo and Disney's relationships getting stronger already.
As much as I agree with the mii’s decision, they probably stay because mii costumes make money.
"if they're brothers, wouldn't they both need to be dudes?" -Marss 2022. this year is off to a banger
*Also Kazuya's definitely staying. Tekken's so huge of a franchise, they're more likely to get rid of Pac-Man than Kazuya*
