Matt, I have quite a few clients come back and still have protection after 6 months with this combo, so thank you. As far as letting it cure before adding collinite, I never have and have had that success. I actually have a client dropping his truck off tomorrow. So I'll give the curing time a chance and compare it. Awesome video and thank you for the great content.
Breaks out the Powerlock and...all's right with the world. Great job Matt, love the in-depth stuff from the new place, but please keep up the odd home wash bay stuff too.
Jescar PowerLock and Collinite 845 is my go-to combination now, especially on my black truck that I show. So good, and in my opinion more natural looking than a ceramic coating. Those have value and applications but to me nothing beats traditional wax. Maybe it's just the process of applying it that feels more gratifying. Glad that you introduced me to the combination, as I never heard of PowerLock until your channel.
May end.up using Chemical Guys Jet Seal 109, then 845. It’s what I have on the shelf. Strip wash, clay and apply. I used this combo before, put 2 coats of 109 down and waited an hour for the first and 2 hours for the second coat to seal, then 2 coats of 845 (probably didn’t wait long enough for the second coats but I was strapped for time). Very little working time as long as I put it on thin. What do you think of this combo? It easily lasted me the winter in Wisconsin, October to May.
Wait till you try bead maker... I bought it after I saw you use it on the other video... did my first wash after application and it was just insane... apply after each wash and omg the paint feels like glass
Thanks for this video. Have you found a way to remove Jescar (Power Lock +) from plastic trim? Some time ago I applied Jescar to all surfaces (paint and plastic), but subsequently found that it left a mottled white smear on the plastic parts, especially the rough plastic like the rear bumper cover. I've tried several solvents, but nothing seems to work.
Thank you for the video. This is now, my go too sealant. I do put the 845 right after the PL. I haven't had the luxury of keeping the car that long. The only thing I can say from doing it that way is the fingerprint problem. I may be putting too much 845 on the pad too but if you even get close to the paint you will get fingerprints it seems like. Love your video's.
Matt, have you seen that Jescar recently released Ultra Lock +? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that, and if it would go well with Collinite 845 as well.
Hey Matt, I have partial Xpel clear bra on my Q7, is it necessary to clay??. Xpel is self healing, so that’s my concern.. I’ve used a clay mitt before, but sometimes it seems pointless to do it on the wrap.. Would you recommend to do it?. Thanks!.
You would only need to clay if you have embedded contaminants that you can feel on the surface. If you do, Xpel is generally okay to clay or Autoscrub.
@ObsessedGarage So, you don't rinse your vehicle off after you apply carpro eraser? I heard some people saying that it can damage your clearcoat. I guess you don't feel that way but I would like some feedback about that. I did buy this one as well, but I figured I needed to bring the car down after using it. I suppose there is no harm in doing so.
Matt I was wondering if you could do a car that is worse off that the cars I have seen you do? Would love to see how you would work it, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and will be doing a full detail on with paint correction and ceramic coating
Working the same I am sure following his steps but if he was doing let say my 01 Grand Cherokee he probably would have added steps...Because my 17 Rogue that I ceramic coat was done completely definitely
Hey! Quick question. When you said you will use "Wolf" on the trim and glass did you mean the nano glass sealant on your website? And, can you use that glass sealant on the trim? Thanks! Love the video. Came across your Collinite x JESCAR combo from Pan's channel and it looks to be a good one. Keep up the good stuff!
I'm trying to learn more about this combo (power lock + 845) after 6 months or so would you do a decon wash and then re-seal with powerlock +845 or could you top up with just 845 every 6 months? Also is it possible to put something similar to Carbon Collectives Hybrid Coating on top of just powerlock so it lasts longer?
You would only need to decon if you have contaminant build up on the surface. If you don't, then you can simply reapply. The conditions in FL are much harsher than you'd think. Decon is inevitable in about 6 months.
Do you find a separate towel for final ipa wipe before protection would be more beneficial then the drying towel? I find that it makes me feel better to have a towel which hasn't touched any chemical other then a prep spray assuring my final protection sticks 100%.
Do you keep your towels separate that you use to remove Power Lock like you do the pads? Are you ever able to get the microfiber towels clean on the ones used to remove the Power Lock?
I have already done a paint correction to my black 4 runner last year. I have some new swirling and want to use black light from chemical guys to hide some of that. (Yes I have new swirling, this paint is SO soft). I love this combo mentioned here. Would anyone recommend the black light before the sealant? Or after the 845?
Does anybody know if there is a real difference between Menzerna Powerlock Ultimate and Jescar Powerlock +? Menzerna is what i can buy locally but if Jescar is specifically better maybe i should order that from the US? Getting ready to my first paint correction on my A4, it needs a polish after 8 years of service :)
I still have yet to come across anything better than Power Lock in a liquid paint sealant. I would be interested to see how Collinite 915 lays down over power lock as opposed to the 845, but haven't tried it yet. Power Lock also plays very nicely with Optimum Car Wax and OptiSeal as maintenance products to extend it's life cycle.
Ok, I did this whole procedure on my 2017 Ram 3500 and it looks and feels great, thank you for the lessons. So now how do I maintain it? I have a PH neutral soap and a foam blaster. Is that enough to maintain it?
Hi Matt! you said in the video that you would experiment with BM in the combo PL + 845. Can you tell us what the result of this combination was? thanks
Hello !!you make amazing videos !!I order the power lock but I want to ask you something!I already wax my car and I think to wash the car before the power lock with dishwasher liquid!this will work to remove the wax ?? Thank you!!!
Yes, you need to strip wash it with something before applying the power lock and then you need to use a chemical and physical decon then paint correction if you know how.
So I was right about to purchase power lock, then noticed they came out with ultra lock. A sealant with ceramic. Your opinions and thoughts on it? Maybe a review? It’s was a $5 difference so obviously I purchased the Ultra Lock.
very nice work as usual... i bought jescar and collinite due to your recommendation(saw your segment on Pan's video) haven't tried it on my own cars... i prefer csl/exo.
I have a couple questions about the jescar. I know you said it requires 3 hours before it is cured. I live in FL with no access to a garage or over hang. Can I apply wax immediately after or is the cured process critical? And if it is, how would you recommend removal of light dust?
That looks awesome man, thanks for sharing the experience. We would love to see the first wash after this process so next time you wash this vehicle please share it.
I'm sad that you didnt make more videos of you just doing paint correction like all those awesome videos of when you corrected your Porsche GT3 And your 2018 Raptor. Also the Subaru looks beautiful
Nice result on your dad’s car Matt! How is the Porsche’s coating and PPF holding up? It’s been a while we saw a video of a maintenance wash with a chat about things/projects coming up...
So I have been using powerlock plus for a few months now and ran into an issue while applying on a clients car today. Hoping someone can help so I can make sure I’m applying correctly. I did my standard wash/clay/ipa before applying powerlock plus. I apply with a black foam waxing pad and battery powered DA. I do overlapping patterns to make sure I have proper coverage. I do the whole car and get back to the beginning and it is very difficult to take off. Almost like a caked on wax, I literally have to scrub to get it off and it leaves white chalk looking residue here and there that I have to continually buff to get off. Did I apply this incorrectly? Was outside but less than 70* and only the front was barely in the sun. Love how it looks after, just want to save my shoulders. Any help would be appreciated!
Very late comment hope you figured it out! If it was black paint even if it was only 70 the paint couldve been almost 90! Sounds like it sat to long and got heated up
Hey Matt, If you're in to it you should try Angelwax Stripped Ease, i used Carpro Eraser and even after spraying a panel down, let it sit for a while than even it out until it vaporizes and buffing off it still left some oils behind. (water test) Stripped Easy is labeled also a "Wax removal system" and boy does that stuff works!! Spray it on to the panel even it out and buff it right away if you want and everything 's gone! Water lays dead flat on the paint and your nitril glove kinda "sticks" to the paint. Just saying and sharing my experience. That Powerlock is somenthing addictive i use it whenever i can, it makes this blue so deep and rich, love it!!
@@ObsessedGarage Ok thanks. I'm going to abandon my original plan of getting a paste wax and going for this recommendation instead. I just don't understand the purpose of the powerlock? What does it exactly do for protection, looks and durability if Collinite is good for 6 months on its own? Love the channel and videos, look forward to seeing more.
It would be cool to have the same top cap from Jescar Powerlock Plus Polymer Sealant on the Collinite Wax! I have wasted a fair share of that stuff when I first bought it lol....
Anthony Perrone you know what that’s a darn good idea, i’ve just been using sprayer heads. I’ll have to try and see if my old just car power lock caps will fit 845!
Andres Rivera Firstly 845 is still crazy hydrophobic and secondly because it gives a better carnouba gloss/glow look and thirdly to act as a sacrificial layer. Exactly why anyone puts a carnouba on top of any sealant.
Ken Lawton hmmm Fair enough. I’d like to see testing done showing wether layering actually works or if the carrier solvents of certain products removes the bonded sealant. I guess I’ll have to pull out a test panel and do some experimenting...
Andres Rivera As you know, Fusso is pretty stubborn once applied and takes a lot to remove it so I'm pretty happy that after I leave it for a couple of days that 845 isn't removing it. If that was the case I'm sure that Mat applying 845 over powerlock, as he does in this video, would fail faster than Fusso Coat.
Ken Lawton It likely works. Fusso definitely impressed me. It’s been going on my car for about 6 months now and when It thought it was dying off, I clayed the trunk and then did an IPA wipedown. I hosed it down and the beading was damn near perfect. The surface was just contaminated with gloss enhancers from car soap and drying aids.
Jason Summers you can. Not sure why you would want to it will decrease the hydrophobicity. Also I can’t speak with certainty in terms of compatibility. But the coating will likely shed the sealant and wax very quickly due to lack of bonding.
I fall in love with the color of the WRX more and more after every episode he does.
Miss the days of you showing the entire process uncut like you did in the past. Great video!

I skipped the curing too without issue as well, but I had the time to let it cure.
Watching this reminded me of how much more I like using my DA to apply sealant/wax. So much faster.

.... crickets and pin drops
When should we apply sealant? After polish and wax ?
After polish, before wax.
how much would you charge to apply the sealant and the wax to a car ??
I'm not sure man. I only do my own cars.
Do you find a separate towel for final ipa wipe before protection would be more beneficial then the drying towel? I find that it makes me feel better to have a towel which hasn't touched any chemical other then a prep spray assuring my final protection sticks 100%.
I don't find it necessary.

Looking good. That is an old school combo but if it works, it works!

Jescar's version is a bit thicker. But they are very similar.
Is it because of the climate in Florida that makes the Powerlock last so short time? Since they claim 12 months and realisticly 6-7 months .
I think 6-9 with routine maintenance is more realistic.
I still have yet to come across anything better than Power Lock in a liquid paint sealant. Ok, I did this whole procedure on my 2017 Ram 3500 and it looks and feels great, thank you for the lessons. So now how do I maintain it? I have a PH neutral soap and a foam blaster. Is that enough to maintain it?
Add good microfiber and a drying aid like Car Pro Spray Wax and/or P&S Bead Maker.
Hi Matt! you said in the video that you would experiment with BM in the combo PL + 845. Can you tell us what the result of this combination was? thanks
Seems to be doing well. I haven't noticed any issues.

Hi can i use Maguire's synthetic sealent 2.0 instead of power lock because its not available in my country 😞

Does this combo (Power Lock + 845), with that time between these 2 only work at that temperature / humidity where you live?
Do you apply the combo to all the inside doors and door jams?
Yes, I did.

I haven't.
Hey @Matt are both of these products safe for the headlights?
Yes, both are fine.
...so is Water “sheeting” is better than water “beading”?
Definitely
I was just wondering why you choose to apply powerlock plus by hand rather then with a polisher?
Polisher doesn't really save any time and introduces the chance of marring the soft paint.
Obsessed Garage Thanks! Great channel very informative!
Washing car is one of life's enjoyable!!!
Why remove the tape from the trim prior to application of the sealant/wax?
I like to get everything clean and wiped down. I've never had an issue getting wax on the trip.
I believe you put two coats of 845 on. Do wait in between applications of 845?
I do. I don't have any science to back it, but I usually wait 6-12 hours between applications.
Can the 845 be layered with 303 graphene sealant?
Probably not. SiO2 doesn't play well with wax, so this probably won't either.
Do I need a carlift to hand wax my car??
Matt, can I use Powerlock and 845 on top of Cquartz or other ceramic coatings?
Jason Summers you can. Not sure why you would want to it will decrease the hydrophobicity. Also I can’t speak with certainty in terms of compatibility. But the coating will likely shed the sealant and wax very quickly due to lack of bonding.
Tanner, thanks for the input, much appreciated
Yeah, that won't play so well.
Nice shirt Matt.
I can start wearing colors other than black now that I'm dropping weight!
YOUR THE ONLY ONE THAT EVER SAID 2 MONTHS, THATS CRAZY
I was about to buy Power Lock but the 2 months comment has given me second thoughts.
If I could go back 5 months I would hands down powerlock over cquartz.
Cquartz is also a great options. There are pros and cons to all types of protection. This one is the longevity.
845 vs 915??
I like 845.
@@ObsessedGarage how so? Sorry i have no experience with both
Butter baby!
GOOD STUFF!
Is it weird that I’m ONR my car and watching this?
ONR
Alex Shnaider Optimum polymer technology no rinse.
Timboslice dude I know what onr stands for
Alex Shnaider why did you ask?
when people ask they put question mark. I didn't.
845 is liquid 476s...915 way different bro
This vs AMMO skin.
I choose this. I think it looks better and lasts longer.
Is there a pad to apply this on a polisher
Is it possible to top a ceramic coated car with ultra lock as a maintenance?
Yeah…it likely won’t bond.
