I couldn't believe the price when I first saw it advertised for 65k drive away. The local importer seems to think Peugeot = exotic luxury brand.

For $27K US, they could be pretty popular here. Mostly because we don't have any other choices.

Some of the footage shows the early pre-facelift e2008 and some the new 2023/24 version. If they’re selling the later one in Australia they already have the longer 250 mile range. The 2022 model year I believe is in between the earlier and later cars and also has a bit more range than the original 2019 - 2021 models which do around 190 - 200 miles max. We’ve got one of those and it has enough range for our use case scenario and charges pretty quickly. We really like it. The petrol one in the UK is still significantly cheaper new than the EV as far as I’m aware?

Early adopters pay a premium… same as early Tesla owners … now battery and electric motor technology has improved significantly… so newer models are lower cost so price can be less…

I would have seriously considered this over our MG4 at the same price, but I got the MG4. I also would've seriously considered this when we picked up a used MG ZS EV as our 2nd car but we've got the ZS now. I hope a lot of people who weren't keen on forking out $40K for a Chinese EV might consider a french one instead. The more EV's on our roads the better.

Heads should roll at Peugeot Australia after this debacle. They imported a premium car and did not back it up with premium sales or marketing. I booked a test drive last year and when I arrived the sales manager at the dealership immediately fobbed me off to his assistant to show me the vehicle. Afterwards he did not even bother to ask what I thought of the car, let alone try to sell it to me. I got the overall impression that he was just not interested and certainly there appeared to be no belief in the product (perhaps he was BYD plant!).
Now we find that sales have tanked and they have hung their early adopters out to dry with an extraordinary price cut. That hardly helps people to trust the brand and signals to the market that when the next round of vehicles arrives that people just have to be patient and wait for the next large price cut to roll through.
Peugeot make really good cars which sell well in numerous markets. In Australia they are averaging 200 sales per month across a large fleet of cars and vans. But they are just drifting. Comparable brands such as Audi and VW sell 10 to 15 times that.
On the positive side their upside potential is immense!

It is an absolute scam. In 2020, the 2008 Paugeot sold for €22,000 in Spain.

This is the GT top spec version. With the current price of 41k AUD drive away it's an amazing value

I think Atto 3 has more range but 2008 is cooler to me.
I would choose which one costs less and whuch one you like more

As always, you get what you pay for. Nice looking car, but range is anemic.

$1000 for 5 years I think now for prepaid service look like great value I also think the looks of the car will not become dated unlike quite a few ev’s

GWM Ora is half that in service costs and have 2 more years in warranty... But this looks very masculine compared with the Ora so depends on your needs

Can you make review of the new Xpeng G6 car? You did video around 1 year ago and can you compare those specifications with what has been produced now?

The entire EV rollout was done backwards. R&D dictated that they could only offer top end pricing while ignoring the mass market. Now they are forced to take huge losses.
They SHOULD have created a common source for drive train and electronics to handle controls and focused on design instead of innovation. That would have given the buyer more reliability, never ending supply of replacement parts, and (most important) affordability.
It will be interesting to see what is left after the mass failures shake out. We may all be on bicycles in 2035.

Only consider buying one if they drop the price another 40%

I have been driving Peugeots for the past 20 years and I have been very happy with the vehicles overall. Range is not an issue for what we might have in mind, so thats not an issue. Would I buy one of these? No, just no.

Chrysler never recovered from Daimler-Benz, then Fiat, now a bunch of other clueless Europeans are in charge.
The fragile 900-pound battery is the EV flaw that can't be overcome.
Australia is de-industrializing - a huge nation that only Russia and South Africa has more resources, but they can't seem to take advantage of their abundance.
Attempt to navigate across Australia in an EV! Elon Musk's charger problem is a major weakness, but attempt to travel across Australia in an EV!
We need alternatives to gasoline and diesel, but please no 900-pound battery! In 35 years the easy petroleum will likely have been extracted. More oil reserves will continue to be discovered, but at greater costs. The rising costs of oil will lead to reduced consumption. Toyota hybrids are conservative, will consumers pay for 150 mpg hybrid tech? Many will when the alternative is a 900-pound battery.

e-2008 is 2,490,000 baht (about 68,950 USD) in Thailand due to very high tariff for western cars. This promotion price, 40% discount should be available in Thailand too. With this high discount, e-2008 will become an affordable EV in Thailand, helps Thai people avoid Chinese EVs.
