Eric seems like a good dude, his success is well earned. He has a clear passion that is completely lost in modern triple A games. He single handedly proved that you dont need a 25 million dollar budget and unreal engine to make a great game. I would have gladly paid $60 for it.

Then just recently I decided to pick up a digital copy on my Switch and since then I've not been able to put it down. The fact that Eric did all of this by himself just astounds me and I wish I gave it a chance much sooner~
When I was a kid I used to spend hours upon hours playing Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral town... it was my favorite game. Then Stardew Valley came out and I felt like a little girl again because it brought back so much of the joy I had missed experiencing during my time with Friends of Mineral Town on the Gameboy Advance.

One thing about Eric that I will always treasure (especially in these times) is that he didnt want to be a part of Steams Early Access scam. He wanted to give fans an complete product. That has resonated with me a lot during these last couple of years where every other game gets rushed and is then sold as a complete game when it isnt.
What Eric said about the romance options at 7:00 is really good information. “How do you know the players will feel connected?” You don’t, but you give them the option. The option is good enough to satisfy that player if they go down that route with your game. It makes sense. So, essentially don’t cheap out on romance options (looking at you, Skyrim). I think the community and tester feedback is also quite important here. Great interview, glad he was able to meet the creator of his primary inspiration. Both were so respectful. 👍🏼 Thanks for sharing.
It's really nice to see two directors, two of them creating a similar game, sit with each other with no hate whatsoever despite the overwhelming similarity. How the one who copied actually admit it and being honest about how he's hugely inspired by him, and how the one being copied received it very positively and took it as a compliment.

I mean... I still have a life to live. I don't want to spend all of it inside a farming simulator made by these two cuz it would be hard to stop playing. Let's be careful with what we wish for.
