  • It's been two years since I started living full-time in my T@B 400 so I decided to create a video reflecting on what I like and dislike about the T@B 400 and what I might change in the future if I ever get a different RV.

    We love out Tab 400 2021, which I believe is the same model you have. We have the bigger fridge, but we do miss the extra closet space (you can't win). We use ours for weekend stuff. The newer models do a great job of making storage spaces more accessible (like a front accessible drawer under the bed and the front-facing cubbies in the dinette area). The aesthetics of the nucamp are wonderful!

      @ameliaaway  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The aesthetics are fantastic. I am jealous of the newer models with the drawer. It took me six months to realize I had storage under the bed 😅

    I have the 2-way fridge too with 2 raw fed poodles, but I love the closet. I wish it had an awning too. I re-made the little table so it doesn't stick out.

      Oof, I bet your poodles also eat a lot more than mine! I lucked into the awning last year - someone in the campground I was at last summer sold it to me for $100.

    I am full time in a Tab 400. My Tow vehicle is a Ford f-150 with a camper shell. This gives me huge amount of storage for clothes and pantry items. Since I have the small fridge in the Tab I opted to get an 60QT ICECO VL60 freezer/fridge combo which lives in the back of the truck. I also have the Pecron 2000 solar generator to power the ICECO when not connected to shore power, or when driving. There a couple of things that are not ideal, like the awning. But don't really care. I'm very comfortable in my Tab.

    • @ameliaaway
      @ameliaaway  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to consider a similar setup in the future. Do you keep it in your truck when it's hooked up to shore power?

    • @anthonybiancone3780
      @anthonybiancone3780 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ameliaaway Yes, the Pecron and the ICECO never leave the truck. They are quite heavy, too heavy for me to lift. The Pecron is about 50lbs and the ICECO over 60lbs (empty). when on shore power I have an extension cord from the TAB external power sockets by the door to the ICECO (120V). When boondocking using Pecron 2000 w (400 w solar Cells) I also power the TAB (keeps Tab fridge running and keeps Tab Battery charged) My Tab has no solar,
      My Pecron never goes below 70% charge. In the morning make coffee too with espresso machine. The ICECO when running the compressor uses about 35w (12V). since it cycles on and off I have about 4-5 days of power if I just run the ICECO and not hook up the TAB fat 120V 30 Amp cord. The Pecron only has a 20 amp socket, which means you need a 30 amp to 20 amp adapter. I think I just caught myself rambling.
      😂 I love talking about this stuff.

    Hey Amelia, I’m really glad to have come across your profile and be joining your channel 😀. I’m a small trailer onwer as well, kind of similar to the T@B 400 but made in Europe, as I’m from Barcelona. It’s an Adria Action 361 LH and love it too, same reasons you stated 😍. I really look forward to starting to watch your videos and following your adventures/life on the road 🙂. Peace out, take care 👋🏻

    Hi Amelia, thanks for sharing your info and thoughts on the tab 400.
    I've been looking at the 3 nucamp models tag, tab 320 and 400.
    I've also looked into truck campers, class c mini-motorhomes (nothing huge and crazy).
    I've even thought about car camping and possible van life (down by the river).
    Its pretty amazing all the pros and cons each one has. Some a lot more the others. With the tab 400 being the largest camper how is it to tow with a truck?
    I've never towed personally. So I think that's why I lean towards a truck camper/class c or a baby tag teardrop.
    Thanks for you insight!! Its greatly appreciated. 😀

      The T@B 400 tows great!
      It is definitely intimidating towing a camper for the first time. I actually started towing with something that's T@G sized so I had some experience beforehand. There is a learning curve but with some practice, it definitely gets easier and something like the 400 isn't that bad as compared to larger travel trailers. Backing it up into a space is honestly harder than towing it. But again, with a little practice you'll be a pro.

    Good video. I live about 25 minutes from where Tabs or NuCamp is and have toured the factory several times. Many amish workers there that make the cabinets. They are really well built. I am 6'6" and a half and they just don't fit me very well. You short people have it made when it comes to tear drop trailers. LOL

      I attended the uCamp rally the last 2 years. I love Sugarcreek ares and the people who live there, and the Amish/NuCamp folks treat us very well. Can't make it across the country this year but will be attending the Taborado rally in Colorado this summer.
      Too bad you don't fit into the teardrops but have you looked at the truck campers NuCamp makes?

      Very nice video. Glad you started making videos again. Tried to go to your blog / website but that did not seem to work when I tried it. I have some questions if you don’t mind. How well does the AC work in the Tab in your home area (I think you mentioned you are in Arizona) in the summertime. Has your AC issue ever re-occurred? I saw you went to Colorado one year and to visit your grandparents another; so I assume that was timed to get out of the heat. Just curious if it would be comfortable in the heat. How comfortable is the dinette to work at for hours on end? Can you possibly elaborate on your tow vehicle? If you had gotten the larger fridge, what would have happened with your closet area / would you have had any closet area? Thank you.

    I never thought of that issue of the curved roof being incompatible with a power awning, so thank you for pointing that out! Would something like a Casita or Scamp be compatible? What is your opinion on those types of trailers?

    • @ameliaaway
      @ameliaaway  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think so! I really like the look of those trailers but I never really looked into them. I've heard they're well made though.
      The T@B 400 adjacent Little Guy Max is also able to have a small awning because it's a couple feet longer and isn't completely rounded at the top. I've heard NuCamp trailers are better quality than Little Guy, though.

    Have you thought about maybe getting a small 12v fridge for the dog food? I realize it would take up some space in the trailer, but might be worth it for you.

    • @ameliaaway
      @ameliaaway  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've gone back and forth on on using a small 12V fridge - I actually already own one but I feel like it would take up too much space.

    I love my icemaker! 😊 🧊🧊🧊
    I spied yours LOL.
    Questions: I have a 2021 320 BD. There is an accessory propane line underneath the back that is very difficult to access. My agile daughter tried to hook it up for me and she couldn't do it. Does your 400 have that feature?
    Also, how did the A/C fix and glycol exchange go?
    New subscriber and I love your fur baby 🥰

    • @ameliaaway
      @ameliaaway  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      I also have the propane line in the back and while it's not hard for me to reach, I had trouble getting it to work with a propane fire pit and a propane grill.
      They didn't find anything wrong with the A/C so I guess it was just overheating. The glycol exchange was a little frustrating because they didn't burp the air bubbles out of the system so I had to do that and then go back for more glycol because it was then too low. I talk a little more about it in my Lost Dutchman State Park vlog, if you want more info.

    Hello! Yesterday I bought a brand new 2023 T@B 400 and am looking forward to picking it up next week. Regarding the awning, it looks like you have a Visor but I haven’t seen one with poles. Did you get the poles separately?

    • @ameliaaway
      @ameliaaway  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought mine used so I'm not 100% sure. I think I have the AllPro awning and judging by their website, it looks like it comes with one support pole to hold it up when it rains. I use mine (that I bought separately) to secure it better when it's windy.
      Safe travels in your new camper!

    • @ameliaaway

      @@ameliaaway About your awning....I have the Visor in two sizes; however I have the smaller 320 size T@B. I've never known anyone to put the pole in and then insert the awning into the rail. You might try it the other way: insert and feed the fabric through the rail, and then insert the pole. Hope this helps.
