Dont know why Baddy is hyping this movie so much.. Its just a masala movie, with an average first half and an underwhelming second half. A well written "Maharaja" movie didn't work for Baddy and he is so excited about Raayan!! Baddy is loosing his credibility in the recent times.
I don’t think he disliked Maharaja.. I think he was left wanting a bit more.. which is fine, happens.. like I felt that Anurag Kashyap was a bad choice for the role.. or even in Raayan I had some issues in the writing.. so it’s just perspective.. and he should be free to express his views

I was confused in one scene with Sandeep where Kalidas tells after stabbing Dhanush to sandeep what are we going to tell our sister? That felt they both have high fondness with respect to her sister. But when they came to know their sister is wronged there was no repercussions from their side. I was confused. Good movie.
What works for Raayan was Dhanush acting - his presence was enormous. dhushara as the sister was amazing and she had the right scene for it. The no closure for the police and the past and why they were how they were; the brothers are shown aligning with Raayan but then the back stabbing with the montage of all the reasons did not add up- especially since Jalisa’s jayaram actually says how hard it must have been for the brother to bring them up… SJ Suryah elevates anything…small characters have those small moments under the arc lights and with the ARR BGM everything gets more than the allotted time. It’s an unabashed revenge drama and survival of the fittest.

This baldy told the whole story of Asuran movie in his review , no spoiler alert nothing. Now he's pretending like he always liked Asuran which was a far better movie than Raayan. In Asuran the character motivations felt very real and there was an emotional connection. In Raayan there are two great fight scenes and a very interesting first half. In the second half they totally messed everything up, felt like they had rewritten most of the movie during editing. Both SJ Suryah and his brothers had no real reason to oppose Dhanush , they just did because he needed to tell revenge story
So does 95% of the movie goers like you and me. We like or are fans of an actor or a director and we will enjoy their movies no matter what. How is baddy different? And if we like certain movies it's necessary that everyone likes it. Most movies have mixed reviews. Some flop movies are appreciated after the OTT release. That's how the world works. There are a truck load of flaws in this movie, with its disintegrated narrative and how come BR just waived off all that and seemed to sing laurels of this movie? The whole second half is flat with a sloppy construction of events. There is nothing much as a take away in this movie. There is this forced underplay looming on Dhanush, which does not define a deeper arc as such. The scenes of the brothers disintegrating looked hurried and hasty. By the end I was left high and dry, wondering what is it all about having spent this time watching this movie. I did not expect this from BR, is he too paid for the reviews?
