I bought the AC1 new. Had the same problem with my shoulder straps. I wore it some & also stored it hung on a curved rack I made with the plates in it. After a couple months my shoulder straps conformed perfectly 👍
Derek talked about why they chose to go with the zero degree for the shoulder straps. He said with the zero degree once the carrier breaks in and stretches out it allows the straps to sag to a more comfortable position. He said starting at that position over time the weight ends up more on your shoulders
Correct that’s what we discussed. However there are many other carriers that are much more comfortable even out of the box. I’m still going to continue to use the AC1 with the hopes that it does break in and I can give it a fair shake down later on with a full review. However, it’s currently not my favorite.
I am Honestly, the Slickster is in stock and a bit cheaper, so that’d be my choice. But if you like the two tone of the AC1, then rock that. Ultimately, they function the same besides the shoulder strap design.
One thought I had was that when shouldering a rifle that the AC1 would be more comfortable and maneuverable. What do you think about that? Does it even make a difference when shooting? Interested to hear your thoughts.
The shouldering between the AC1 and the Slickster is essentially the same. Wearing armor always presents a minor challenge in shouldering a rifle. The only way to really mitigate the interference is to use a shooter cut front plate
Heck yea great review that shoulder straps is a deal breaker for me. How is the plate bag. What secures the plates? Just the normal Velcro that tucks at the bottom or is there more like how the mepc has that additional webbing on the inside to help tuck that plate up?
Wow thanks for this review! I'm thinking about grabbing the GT2 plates for concealed protection. Do you think the thicker .9" IV+HA would still conceal about the same? Trying to decide if should just go for the level 4 plates since they're almost the same price.
Your carrier size is dictated by your plate size. The plate should cover from iliac crest to navel, then nipple to nipple. A medium sapi plate fits me, so I wear a medium plate carrier. For reference I’m 6’1” and 195, the jacket is a large.
Defense Mechanisms mission essential plate carrier is incredibly better than the Trex arms. Plus it has an advanced slickster front plate late bag. And there are wayyy more options to put a rig together how you want it.
i got the ac1 and hated it. too small for a medium. wont fit my ESAPI Medium plates. Upgraded to a Ferro Slickster and all the problems have been solved
I have the LV119 which AC1 copies it and yeah, it is quite uncomfortable for people with nice trapezius. Don´t know if it tends to break in after a while but right now even with shoulder pads is not so comfortable..
After the Trex arms kid Lucas used the spiritus plate carrier for years, he finally made a knockoff of it to sell to us, but its totally his own design 😂

@@theboisfromillinois8406 Which would you say you prefer after having both for some time now? I'm at a crossroads between the two (AC1 & Slickster).

That's just their excuse to be cheap. It's way less work to cut out two square pieces of fabric and sew them together.

I’m going that gang

Rangers Lead The Way 😎
Can I be in it
Love to see another Illinois boi rocking ranger green.
Yea man, IL represent.
You know you always have my support ❤️ also love knowing that you were playing call of duty with me when you first got that plate carrier lol

Fantastic review, thanks a bunch for giving your thoughts and comparison!
Good info man. Like the editing and the quality of everything. 🤘
Thank you!
Holy shit finally another tactical gear youtuber from illinois

Good review, solid info
This is the exact video I needed to watch. Thank you
Niles Illinois says what up!!!
I currently run a Ferro concepts slickster with Spiritus Mk4, but looking for the AC1
They have been out of stock for so long lol

This channel is awesome
Great review! Keep up the good work!
How tall are you and what size is that AC1? Great review! 👍
Search how to size plates. The size of the carrier is dependent on your plate size. I wear medium plates, so I buy medium plate carriers
Where do you get your flash bangs from? Have you found any solutions to the shoulder strap issue such as adding padding etc.? Thanks.
Great video 👍!
T. rex arms stated the l210s will fit the medium ac1, is that the case??
I will subscribe for an answer lol
It should, no problem.
After this time, how had the AC1 been for you and which do you prefer?
Good video 🤙🏻🇺🇸
Does the shingle retain your mags well? Something I can run with and not have them fall out
Well done
What size plates are those? Are they steel?
Good review
Where are you out of? I’m from Illinois too
Medium Hesco L210’s (the ones from trex arms) fit well in a medium slickster? I can’t find info on this lol
Plate carrier sizes are based on sapi plate sizes. Medium carriers fit medium plates, large carriers fit large plates, etc...
Gotcha, thanks
I think Trex choose that design because that kid is thin. If you are muscular and bulky, the muscle on the shoulder strap is bigger, forming an angle.
What size carrier did you buy? How large are you (jacket size)?

This dude looks like a bit Like the Chad from the Memes
thank god im not the only one that plays call of duty in their plate carrier...i thought I was weird or something

Do you have a patreon or something???
깔끔하고 예쁘다....
Turn up your volume
What size is that plate carrier ac1 you holding?
medium
How tall are you and what size did you pick for both ?
I’m 6’1” 190lbs. Carrier size is dictated by plate size. I fit medium SAPI plates, so I wear a medium plate carrier

Who makes the 5 shingle pouch?
Surus Operations you can find him on Instagram

What do you do man? Like… for a living?
I see an AC Uno... lol
¿Es de Mexico? Nadie sabe.
Do you use trauma pads?
No I do not on a slick carrier. On my JPC I do because the slimness is less of a priority
Lol ngl wearing the jacket makes it much more conspicuous. It’s just an unnatural type of bulge.
