I'm reading all your comments and shedding a little tear, you've all got so much lessons and expereince from the 15 year olds to 50 year olds, your all sooooo soooo amazing. *big hugs* and now bed time x

  • @taryn.b

LOL I died when she said "My bed is like a club.!" I am in my late 20s and I feel the same way! I no longer feel guilty or old for wanting to get 8+ hours of sleep! Sleep is cool ya'll! And I've learned so much in my 20s, I could write a book but something that sticks out that I have learned is that EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. Whatever happens, try not to get too down on yourself because you will get through it and you'll be so much stronger and better for it. And I've learned that getting older and wiser rocks so embrace it!

One lesson I learned and I learned this in high school. It's okay being single. I actually spend that time getting done, focusing on me, and healing myself. Men can be a distraction sometimes so when I do break from a guy I spend that time bettering myself. Not every guy is "THE ONE".

  • @KezB

I'm 23 and the biggest lesson I've learned in life thus far is that when people show you who they are believe them! I used to think that everyone had good intentions... BOY was I wrong lol. Also I learned don't envy people for what looks like their happiness and riches because you never know what their life is like behind closed doors & oh yea I definitely can't eat whatever I want but I still do lol

I'm only 22 but I've learnt that it takes time to get to know who you really are and you should allow yourself that time to grow and truly attain what you want for yourself. I've also realized that friends come and go but the true ones stay; there's only a handful of people you can genuinely trust with things.

I'm 25 and I've learned that if you gonna buy something big and expensive, like house, you should learn everything about the cost of its maintenance/decor and where to buy those things! And I've learned that the less stuff and clothes you have in your house- THE BETTER! It's way easier to clean everything, and organize! And also always learn how much time you spend on everything you do!

I'm 18 and learned a very big lesson in my life recently. Never do things for a guy and expect him to do things for you in return (sexually for the most part). Don't give yourself to a man just because you think he'll ask you out afterwards or so he can take your loneliness away. In the end, he probably won't do any of that and you'll remain alone like before...

Just graduated from college a few months ago and I'm now shattered that the real world doesn't give two pennies about how high my grades were or how well I carry myself as a person. There's always someone better than you and the job you want takes a ton of rejections to get to. I know, harsh...but it's been a rocky road so far.

So inspiring and so true! I'm turning 23 in less than a month and I'm at a stage of life where I feel like I'm stuck. I'm questioning myself and figuring out who I am and where I'm going, what career I want to pursue..I'm also becoming more conscious that years are going by faster and faster and thatI have to enjoy life because it is short! I'm also realizing that not having a load of friends and not pleasing everybody is totally okay, that people have disappointed me and still are doing it, but you know what! It goes on! I have one life to live and again I have to enjoy it the best I can! Thank you Pat so much for this amazing video!

Im 14 & I just got into year 10 and everyone in my class have boyfriends except me. And were in a girls school, I'm straight so thats nothing but while everyone tells yoy why dont you like anyone ? Why dont you like guys ? Lol & it use to make me annoyed but I learnt now that its ok if you dont like guys because first of all it wont last long, its a waste of time and God will give me one at the right time and moment xx Patricia you really inspire me

nadiaxoxidk You have so more much to do in life than a boyfriend. I didn't have my first one until my senior year. God sent him to me and he was truly worth the wait. He's very patient. Don't rush it, plus many of those girls are insecure and are in those relationships looking for love in the wrong places. You're only 14, don't let the world peer pressure you into their fast paced world. You're perfect and are right where you're suppose to be!

      Me too!
      nadiaxoxidk:
My schoolwork and extracurricular activities kept me busy. In fact, it's because of my extracurricular activities- which i thoroughly enjoyed- that got me through school and life! you have the rest of your life to have a boyfriend.FYI, I was also in an all girls school. 99% of those with boyfriend at your school will probably end up marrying other guys anyway (if they get married). Never feel pressured to do anything!

Oh my goodness! I needed this soo badly! I just turned 22 and many things that I was dealing with and thinking about you touched on so beautifully! This video was such an encouragement for me. I often feel as though I should have my ish together and I really am hard on myself because I do not feel as though I am where I would like to be at my age. This kind of helped me realize that it is ok to not have it ALL together right now, and actually be proud of how far I have come. Thank you soo much Patricia!

Amen girl. Coming from a 27 year old here. So relate to what you're saying, especially the career path point. I studied law for 5 years but I am a business woman now. It doesn't matter, you education makes you a well-rounded, well-spoken individual. Loving the more intellectual vlogs you have been doing recently.

This is such a great list Patricia. I'm 25 and the most important one for me is what you said about not worrying if you haven't got it all figured out. I still call my mum if I'm not sure what to do about a situation at work, or about how to cook some new ingredient I'm trying in a recipe... haha

Oh my god yes! These are exactly the kind of things I've been thinking a lot about lately. I'm 22 now and looking back over the last couple of years I've learnt so much about life that just didn't make sense before. Your 20's are definitely a learning curve and sometimes I can't help but be nostalgic for my teenage years when everything was so much simpler, but onwards and upwards!

I'm 24 and 6 months I remember turning 23 and 24 was like nooo I'm old. After analyze myself and where I'm standing in life i figured out getting old is pretty cool. (Not the number but the feeling) I figured out the I'm wiser I know better what I want, what makes me happy I know better myself. With others words I'm happier and free. So getting older is pretty cool you just have to embrace it on your own time. DON'T WORRY

However, I have learnt so much over the past few years and I am grateful for my lessons. Everything you said Patricia was spot on! One of my favourite videos of yours. Here's to getting wiser.

I'm turning 20 in a month, I really hope I get better at the small talk, I'm terrible at it lol. But one thing I have learned in the past year is that taking time for yourself is so important. Self-care really makes a difference, taking like 20 minutes of the day just to be by yourself or do something that makes you feel good and helps you de-stress is really helpful :). I've also figured out that even though you have to learn to be self-reliant, you also have to be self-aware and realize sometimes you can't take on the world by yourself.

Absolutely loved this video. I'm coming up to 25 and these 20 life lessons were SPOT ON! The fact that most uni goers don't succeed in a career they completed at uni. That you will drift away from most friends during the teen years and that bed is a haven! I'd love more of these 20 lessons. Maybe do a relationship one.

I'm 18 now and over the past years I've learn to appreciate myself, family, friends, and God. I never understood how important they were until when i was stuck in a very.. i mean VERY serious situation and they will help me get through it. Also I've realized that I have so much potential. I never believed in myself, and now i'm a freshman in college getting straight A's. Lastly, i've learned that those who care about you would make an effort to contact you. I just graduated from high school and everyone that I've talked to except 5 people don't make an effort to contact me. Matter of fact, two weeks ago i made an effort to meet one my "good" friends and she treated me like complete crap.

  • @acrystalbyrd
    @acrystalbyrd 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

A major thing that I am learning (which I think you touched on briefly) is to get rid of the lofty expectations that you had for your life. When you're younger, you tend to plan out your life all the way done to the letter...what kind of occupation you'll have, where you'll live, who you'll marry etc. only to find that things don't always go as planned. And that is mainly because while you're planning your life, you're not factoring in LIFE. So many unexpected things can happen that throw your "plan" off and that's okay, it's what makes the journey worthwhile. So don't get discouraged if things don't pan out as you thought they would by the time you're a certain age...you are where you are for a reason and just learn to grow from the experiences while continuously working to create the life you imagine for yourself. :)

I'm just about done with 30 (like a few days), but the best thing I learned in my 20s was to not stress out too much. All things come at their appointed time. No pressure, no stress. Stress is a killer and it is not worth it.

This is such a great, positive, uplifting video! I just graduated high school and I am at the very beginning of trying to figure out my path in life, so it really helped hearing from someone elses experience ! I have just started to make new friends, who are mostly older than me, and I find it to be such a great experience to interact with people who are much more mature than my former classmates and I actually find myself getting along with them much better !!

Hi, dear Patricia, I'm 24 and I couldn't agree more, except for one thing: University is actually going to have the greatest impact on your career, this is the way to make your dreams come true. I've always wanted to be an artist and a designer, so that would be my Master degrees and one thing I've learned is that you have to find out what's your dream job/career and go for it! Cause if you do the things you love, you'll never feel like working :)

this just may be my next video topic. I'm 22 and I started learning these at 18 haha. one thing I'm adding to the list: Listen to what your parents say. Majority of the time there is wisdom and so much truth to the things they will tell you about life.

Wow Patricia this was was VERY helpful! I'm 22 going on 23 and am now really dealing with all of the 20's ups and downs and coming to realize the world around me. And I literally thought I was the only one dealing with the issues considering I dont have many ppl in my life to talk to or get advice from. So by you making this video has really helped me realize that I'm not alone in this world. Its just the terrible 2's lol.

It's so true about being able to get along with people of all ages. I'm 25 and one of my closest friends from my workplace is in his 40s. And there's a lovely lady that is in her 70s and she's like the life and soul and just cracks me up. And the thing about being in bed early. I feel like a grandma but I need my sleep!

First off, I want to say that this video is awesome! This is what I needed to hear on this Sunday morning. I am 19 and in college. Right now, I am learning how to be realistic with myself. I always expect to be better than I really am and when I fail at something, I am really really disappointed. I am learning that I'm not always to going get things right and that it is okay.

I actually didnt want this video to ennnd !!! I'm 22 and I learned from when I got out of high school until now that it reaaally doesnt matter if other ppl like u or not if you're not being yourself. Dont rely on other people's opinion of u or validation its so much better to be like "this is me and nope I'm not gonna be a party girl that gets in trouble just so you would think I'm cool:)" you're cool enough no matter what u do ;)

I'm only 17 but I feel like I've grown so much since I was 15 ; that's the age I was diagnosed an illness that has put me through loads of hard moments. Now, in my last year of high school, I feel like my classmates don't understand how silly it is to put so much pressure on yourself for exams, tests, etc. It is such a waste of time to me, and I really think they should be thinking about what they like doing and the people they love instead of doing that. I just feel like what I've been through has helped me grow much quicker than the rest of the people my age.
Thank you for your video Pat, I could really relate to a lot of things you said! :) xx

I've learnt that we are responsible for the life we live because it is the sum total of the choices we make. I've learnt that as a result of the choices we have made, life teaches us lessons...some of those lessons result in regret or great joy. I've learnt that regret is "destiny calling out from the future what direction you should take" and it is only in learning from regrets that we are able to live genuine lives. To dwell on regrets is to steal precious time that could've been spent on improving yourself. Simply put, life can be summarized in three words: choose, live and learn.

Hey Patricia, I'm new to your channel and I wanted you to know I definitely identify with number 10 on your list about not having it all figured out in your mid 20s and not achieving your goals. I'm 24 right now, it's been 2 years since I graduated from university and I realized my career choice (accounting) in the corporate world isn't for me. I would have fared better with a career in the medical field. I feel like I don't want to continue even with pressure from my mom to not waste my degree and go on, when in my heart I just want to quit and go back for nursing school. I'm studying to get my accounting license, more for my mom's sake, when really I'm so demotivated I don't even really care for completing my license. I'm Nigerian like you, so you know how our parents can be with the pressure to make good money and be successful. Anyway, financially I'm in a hard place since I've already got my first degree getting financial aid for a second one is very difficult. This was way longer than I intended it to be, but my question is do you have any advice for being at number 10 on your list, such as being on the brink of a career change and not having it all figured out? Or if you've already made a video on it feel free to just let me know. Hope I haven't gone on and on, but I do enjoy your personality and I'm coming to like your channel. Thanks and all the best!

      1. Organise your thoughts and have a serious heart to heart with your mum about your plans.
      2. Start saving money. Esp in lieu of tuition. This might take a year or two.You might stay at your current job (if you have one) or get another, up to you. Don't quit until you have another job, of course.
      3. Make a realistic timeline of what you want to do as far as nursing school or whatever you have in mind. Follow it and go from there. (Also Nigerian in the Diaspora btw)

Hey! I had to reply because you are literally me! I did accounting as well, worked and QUIT after a year, didn't even do the exams and now I am so happy and in about a year and a half I will have graduated from my second degree and I am delighted!! Life is too short to be in a world you hate. I was also born in a nigerian house and once YOU know what you want, just do it. Good luck!

It's amazing how I can relate to everything you said. I guess people really do go through the same things. I am in my early 20's and the best thing I've learned so far is that it's okay not to fit in some times. I mean when everyone else tries to 'fake' who they really are I still choose to be the 'real' me. I guess I just don't want to lose my individuality just because everyone else is trying to be the same. Love you Patricia! You inspire me so much. Thank you! :)

Entering my 20's in a year, so this really helped! :-)
I just got out of the danish version of high school, and I've learned that the people you were closest with, aren't necessarily the ones that you will stay friends with. People change when you don't see them everyday anymore, and that made me realize who my real friends are

You literally summarized my entire 20s experience soo sooo well... and i truly feel from my heart that each of those are things which ive lrnd thru ma twnties..
Am js abt to hit mid twenties and among many things ive realized that, the only person who can make you feel happy is you ...
YOU decide how you wanna feel..or how others are gonna make you feel.. ur the one in control.. nd the sooner you realize that.. the sooner you will find happiness..
Thankyou patricia for that video.. it has really made me contemplate on all the things that life has tot me... hope you'll keep posting more such videos.. and yes quoting you "You go girl!!"..

I learned to be more selfish. I think more about what makes me happy and not the people around me. When you put everyone happiness before yours, you have the tendency to loose yourself... The 20s are your selfish years so we have to enjoyed it!!!!

Omg I'm 21 and these are ALL lessons I'm in the middle of learning or I've already learnt. So much truth in here, I can't. :') I am having a hard time with the 'it's ok to not have it all figured out' and 'it's ok to fail' ones though as a once high achieving high school student who is now an uncertain demotivated struggling uni student. So thanks for reminding me again, patricia.
