    Wow.

@@MarianoSalinas sorry to hear of your recent loss, losing someone we love is usually very painful.
Some advice I received when I lost my own father was along the lines of: Don't feel like you must act certain ways because "society says", or other pressures. Know that as humans we all grieve differently, there is no "right" or "wrong" way.
I would add to that, from my experiences regarding grief: You just do what is right for you, and let yourself feel whatever you actually feel, at any given time, because there is not a "right" or "wrong" way to feel, just as no right or wrong way to grieve.
I wish you the best and hope you are ok ☮

To me it is weird whenever people describe birth as something beautiful. It is disgusting, painful, bloody, smelly, traumatizing or even deadly to some, the only beautiful thing about it is the end result after the act is finally done.

Thanks to the pandemic Rammstein were unable to tour so they went into a studio and gave us "Zeit" and just wow.😲 The entire album is a rollercoaster of energy and emotions.😋 Been to their concert 2 weeks ago and it was just awesome to hear nearly 60.000 people sing the first chorus of this song while the band itself was silent, a fairly relaxed and emotional moment for a normally rather energetic and powerful band.🥲 Im still getting goosebumps thinking back on it. 😂

You can see their faces like a flow of time (Der Fluss der Zeit). Every person have to live consciously enjoy every beuatiful moment. Because each of us is here and now only for a limited TIME. It’s probably the most emotional video of theirs I can ever recall seeing. I never have a dry eye after having watched this, especially the scene with the father who runs after his sick daughter, only to hold her in his arms after she passes. Really intense.
The visuals of the sand flowing vertically in the form of an hour glass; time ticking by and you just can’t stop it-really powerful.

I love the birth scene. It just shows something that we've all been through. This moment in the video also describes what is probably the greatest heroic saga of women in general. We men fight great battles and defend our families with our lives if necessary. This is our hero saga. The moment of birth, in great pain and in danger of death, is women's greatest heroic story. It was really beautifully captured in the video and teaches me respect for this act that women have been doing for thousands of years. Every day of the year. Three women of destiny are named: their names are Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is to come) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be).
    I know an ash tree
    is called Yggdrasil,
    The tall tree
    wets white mist;
That's where the dew comes from
    falling in the valleys.
    He is evergreen
    over Urd's well.
    From this come women
    well-informed,
    Three from the lake
    there under the treetop.
Urd is the name of one
    the other Verdandi:
    They cut sticks;
    The third was called Skuld.
    they cast lots
    they ruled life
    the generations of men,
    proclaiming fate.
The Norns (Norse nornir) are fate-determining female beings in Norse mythology, some of whom are said to have descended from gods, others from dwarves or elves.

The sands of time. Rammstein is an exception to me not liking heavy metal, their production is second to none. As someone who works in editing and production for the entertainment industry, I wouldnt be surprised if they actually LOST money on their production in their music videos it's that good. And.... its consistent with telling a story that I feel a lot of the industry has lost because at the end of the day, a song is a story that is complimented with instruments. Whoever thought of this music video is an absolute genius, truthfully.

    „Zeit“ (time)
Three creatures of destiny are named: their names are Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is to come) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be). Their names are considered to be Norse equivalents of common medieval notions of time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld).
The song deals with the theme of death and the transience of life. These motifs are expressed within the video through various images and metaphors. At the beginning, when the band members are drowning in the sea, Lindemann sings about the river of time, in which all people are trapped. This metaphor is visualized by the drowning in the video. In the war scene, where children first play war and later a battle actually takes place, the band sings about the inability to stop the future: "You can't summon the future, you don't tolerate a stay". In the same place where children used to play, they now die in war. The song expresses the wish that the beautiful moments as children should always last. The women who give birth to their children at the Sandstrom represent the cycle of time. In the same place where the dead daughter will later appear, children will also be born. The farmer and his daughter are separated in a moment that seemed perfect for them. The father tries to stop his daughter, but fails. Accordingly, he mourns the moment. The character in the video is clearly identifiable as Death by the black cloak. However, the video also equates it with the concept of time, as the passage of time means everyone has to die at some point. Referring to the band, some fans and journalists suspect that Zeit could be Rammstein's last album, which could be another meaning of the album and song name.

I believe the black creature is indeed time, not death. The interval between birth and death is time, it gives us the beginning and when it's over, we're over too. When your time comes, you can't run away. While we live, all we have is time, for me it is even synonymous of "Life". Do we have life or time? The meaning of both, for me is the same. I do not believe that could be God (like i saw some saying in other reactions), because there are doubts about the existence of himself, while time, is inevitable and undeniable, much more mysterious and unexplainable than any deity, so it would be easier to create something to represent it, since there is no doubt about its existence and its effects on everything that exists. Great video friend, i really enjoyed :)

Time. It's merciless, it doesn't care if one is young or old, man or woman, healthy or sick. Time take what it wants and moves on, no-one and nothing can escape it. Whether we want it or not. But time isn't evil because of it, neither is it good. Time is just time. How we spend our time - that defines whether our existence was good or not. But whatever it was and or is, in the end time takes it's own.

Very good comment, very delicate approach for this gemstone by Rammstein. It had me in tears several times because we can all relate to theme. There is so much more to them than first impressions allow as you experienced yourself. If you follow the thread of more delicate songs, I recommend Brendan Perry from Dead can Dance. Together with 'Severance', ' Song to the Siren, live on Kexp is an absolute gem as well. That voice! Good luck anyway!

    Some things should
    Some things shan't(should not)
We see, yet we are blind
    We cast shadows without light
After us, there will be a 'before'
Out of youth, necessity is born already
We keep dying until we live
    (We) die living into(the)death
    We drift towards the end
    No rest, just striving forward
Endlessness is waving at the shore
Captured in the river of time
    Time
    Please stand still, stand still
    Time
This shall go on forever and always
Warm body will be cold soon
    One cannot conjure the future
    Allows for no stay
    Creating and destroying immediately
I lie here in your arms
Oh, could it just be like this forever
But the time knows of no mercy
    Already, the moment is gone
    Time
It is so beautiful, so beautiful
    Everyone knows
    The perfect Moment
    When our time has come
Then it is time to go
Stopping when things are at thier best
    The clocks stand still
    The moment is so perfect
    But the time keeps running(out)
    Moment, would you Please remain
    I'm not ready yet

    7:08 - 7:11 is a quite a unique moment:
Reverse and forward animation in a single scene. But to me, that shot goes far, far deeper.
    Hint:
Think about Physics, the concept of entropy and what life is, seen from this angle.
    Give your thoughts.

I love the new Rammstein. Ziet is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I agree with your assessment of the video. Only the birth scene didn't disturb me much. Also, I thought the sand scene was like an hour glass. Time through an hour glass going backwards so time is up.

This put me in mind of Mussorgsky's "Songs and Dances of Death", I looked it up, It was four settings of poems written in the 1870's. They depicted in words and powerfull music various tragedies which would have been very relatable to events in many peoples lifetimes back then, and still now sadly. Death is personified as a supernatural "other" haunting the living... like the figure in the Rammstein video. There are videos on the Opera Oddessy chanel (with subtitles) showing the late Dmitri Hvorostovsky, the poetry music and his performances create some intense emotional yet beautiful imagery. However, I think if the Kreisfilm people applied their film-making tallents to Mussorgsky's song cycle it would be almost unbearable! But perhaps that's the point.. they would shake us and make us think.

    About the three Figures:
Norne (goddess of fate in Norse Mythology)
In Norse Mythology, the Norns are female beings who determine fate.
Three Women of destiny are mentioned by Name:
They are called Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which becomes) and Skuld (guilt; that which is to be).
Their Names are regarded as Norse equivalents of common medieval concepts of time in the form of personifications of the Past (Urd), Present (Verdandi) and Future (Skuld).

Do my ears deceive me? Rammstein performing a ballad…that’s a first for me with the catalogue of theirs that I know. What a beautiful song and video. I looked up the lyrics in English just to get a feel of what they were singing about. Well, we all know that Rammstein throw more red herrings in their lyrics than a fishmongers. I looked up the thoughts on the lyrics penned by an Oxford professor of Modern German Literature named Karen Leeder. Talk about over complicating song lyrics and their meaning…best avoided unless you like having your brains fresh out of a centrifuge. For me..maybe it represents someone begrudging the passing of time that ultimately leads to our death. Part of the video showing childbirth and the progression through life..some of the sequences going backwards may support this??
A beautiful song with some incredible vocals, a first class video…and a very thoughtful reaction.

Zeit is my favourite song of Rammstein's new album! I've been a fan since I first discovered them in 1999, and it's been an adventure seeing them evolve over the years. This song is a testament to that; time waits for no one, and no one can alter nor stop the passage of time. I really like how their music videos feature the band members and even their children; I think the kid at the end of the video for Zeit is bass player Oliver Riedel's son or daughter, they look a lot alike. I currently reside in Minnesota and Rammstein is coming to Minneapolis for a show the end of August and this will most likely be the only time I get to see them live in concert 🔥🇩🇪🎸
