    Pro-tip
    When ordering from these companies, you should min-max your build, get the best processor that is within your need, then order the smallest SSD, RAM and add the smallest HDD. This ***should*** allow you to upgrade it later. Note that a 2TB 2.5 inch SSD from Samsung can be had fro $170, so adding an HDD might sound silly, but if you need storage, 2.5 inch is a fast cheap way to add storage
    Edit, i havent tested this on every model, and we havent used HP in several years, but i have not yet had an issue with upgrading these tiny desktops

      This goes in a similar spot to the Lenovo P320 Tiny we reviewed. On the MXM side, Alex is editing the video for the HP Z2 Mini G4 (the newer ones are more expensive) and that has a Quadro P1000 MXM.

      @@ServeTheHomeVideo Thanks for this series, it's in part your channel that has helped me get into homelabbing and I am learning a lot of skills I think I will benefit from in my job. I'm a student who wants to go into data science and I ended up getting a tiny-mini-micro machine to run some projects on. I currently have it automating some software I use for web-scraping. For one thing, I feel like it is a lot easier to work with a self-contained computer like this with some expansion options compared to something like a raspberry pi where I would probably need to get some different cases depending on what all I wanted to add and since I'm not much of a maker and don't have a 3d printer I don't think I am good enough at cable management for that not to become something I was constantly have to fuss with. What sold me in the end was that I could add more ram easily, and the fact it could have a better cpu. I had also looked at NUC's but since I am a student I thought they were overpriced on my budget. It was the perfect solution so props to you man.

  • @Noodles.FreeUkraine
    @Noodles.FreeUkraine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Appreciate the review, but I always wonder who buys these things and, more especially, why. Wherever there's a desk, there's room for a tower with twice the power for half the price.

    • @ServeTheHomeVideo
      @ServeTheHomeVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well over a decade ago companies realized that a tower takes up say 2-3+ sq ft. Small units like these can be mounted on a monitor and save desk/ cubicle volume. In turn that means more desks per square foot of office space. That real estate savings was more than the PC was worth. Plus PCs this size got fast enough that for most office desktop scenarios this is all that was needed.

    • @Noodles.FreeUkraine
      @Noodles.FreeUkraine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ServeTheHomeVideo I get where you're coming from, but wouldn't any desk be wide enough to accommodate 2 legs and a mid-sized tower? Really odd. They also don't look like the really small kind you can mount to a monitor, do they have a VESA mount? (Might be an American thing, we usually don't do cubicles in Europe, so a desk would be like anywhere from 65" to 75" which leaves plenty of space.)
