I almost belly-laughed at the first notes, because I thought you were launching into "Wish You Were Here"! Thank you, for the great humour. I have a Martin X series, made in Mexico, with the same kind of neck and fretboard, but with a composite back and sides, and a Sapelle top, it cost less than £600 a couple of years ago, and is fabulous to play, and listen to. I loved the 12 string vibe, such a lovely sparkle and tonality.

What a beautiful 12 string. Your playing certainly brought out the best in this guitar. This is hopefully my next purchase...as long as it's sold here in the UK. Thanks again, my friend. Stay well.👍

Thank you for using real microphones, and not just the nose mic on the video cam! And thank you for playing all the strings, demoing the lows and the highs, flat picking arpeggios, and strumming.. So many people linger around the higher pitched notes when demoing a 12 string, but the lower octaves and the lower pitch is more of what interests me.. Beautiful playing, nice production.. I'v got a DM usa 6 string.. Considering a DM12

Another great review Jonathan! That video brought me back in time as I listened. My neighbor's father owned a 12 string and a 6 string Martin (in the late 70s) they were both such sweet instruments, as a teen I couldn't afford such nice guitars. Some days I would go to his house and say I'm just here to visit the Martin Twins. They knew it and graciously let me in.... When the weather was nice I took them out to play in shade , some days we would go to my house. It was always sad when they had to return. Ahhhh Summer love. 😉

I have the same guitar. Yes they record well acoustically as you say, many reviews say the same, which is what tempted me. Ironically my previous cheapo bridge lifted and just was never the same even after a repair. Hopefully the Martin quality build will give me years of trouble free playing. The design of the laminated neck is supposed to be super strong, I love the look of it too. I would love to try an all wood 12 string Martin to see how they compare, may be you will be given one to try? My you are busy demoing guitars for us, I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am.

Thank you Jonathan for another fine guitar review and fabulous playing. I have always thought that the X-series Martin 12 strings played and sounded great. Some do not like any guitar with laminate but I feel that Martin has made this guitar sound wonderful. If you ever have the chance would you review Martin's OX2MAE X-series guitar? Perhaps City Music has one in stock. Dealers in my part of Washington State will not usually order in a small O bodied guitar. I am starting to build my own home recording studio...similar to yours ...but not so big and I feel that the small O bodied Martin would add a nice color to my other guitars. I apologize was being so long winded but I admire your channel so much. Blessings my friend from the foothills of Mt. Rainier in Washington State.

I have the dx1ae (6 string version) and for me it had the nicest tone of all those in the shop in a similar price range. The Taylor was too harsh and the others sounded dulller. One with a mahogany body just sounded muffled! I think some who are solid wood purists need to think again.
