  • Short video of the state of my new Sovol Sv06 modded build.
    Reasons for the mods
    1. Stock bearing are poorly greased if at all, and some of them look like they are missing bearings which you can really feal and hear it. Any odd vibrations, unsmooth and inconsistent travel from these bearings introduces noise in the prints on the X axis.
    2. Stock Steppers are very buzzy, hot, and feel like they are not very high resolution, not even compared to a basic 1.8 stepper motor, you can tell by the high microsteps used in the configs on these. These motors especially on the X axis is one culprit to the vertical lines you can see in many of the review prints. Its directly related.
    3. In my case both X and Y axis belts while they are gates belts both sets where running up against the flanges on the toothed gears. The one on the X was not even spinning evenly or balanced, you can see it wobbling. Even after adjusting the grub screws. This introduces noise into your prints again on the X vertical lines and vertical diagonal lines.
    4. PSU is subpar, and very poorly grounded with little to no continuity and too high a resistance even on the PSU directly. Clean and SAFE power is a must for everything to operate and be safe. I think the hot stepper issue is directly related to poor grounding and over worked steppers. Even just by swapping out to the LDO steppers there was an immediate improvement.
    I also had most of the parts on the shelves so it was no stretch to mod this printer, I like tinkering but I want it to look factory if possible. =)

    I mispoke about the rod bearings they are IGUS not Misumi.

    Wow. You have gone all out. My first printer was a Anycubic kobra and it is ok but is not easily converted to klipper. So i picked up a sv06 a few weeks ago and am impressed. My bearings are quite smooth. I do have some IKO bearings on the way for when mine give out. I also have a pi 3b and a btt 5 inch screen and a mellow adxl345 here now. I wish there were some good video tutorials on how to install klipper for the sv06 but i am sure i will figure it out. Well hopefully. Lol. My question to yiu is did yiu creat le the mount yet for the 5 inch screen that mounts in the front? I have seen a few so far but all of them mount on the side. I also did not get the hdmi version of the screen as i wanted to mount the pie in the back and found it was cleaner with that version. If you did design one is it on printables yet?

      I like the the option to choose my own hotends.

    What an awesome build bro lol i love the look of the voron extruder setup on the sv06!! Do you know if it would be possible to use the voron shell with the stock sv06 extruder/hot end setup and just use the same fans that fit the voron?

    • @eclypse3d
      @eclypse3d  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I do not think you can do that the extruder setup is not even close as they cool the hotend from behind not the front and the whole setup is so short.

    How slow is this, in reality, compared to the SV07?

    • @eclypse3d
      @eclypse3d  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the SV07 in my book is a step down just for the v-wheels alone is a step backwards and I feel that they would have done better going with linear rails on the extrusions. How slow, well stock its ok, 80 to 100mm/s print speeds are easy to reach, 150 is not really a feat when you look at say a well tuned voron printer. Also you are limited to the hotend. I can print a new part with this stealthburner toolhead and cw2 extruder and slap a UHF Rapido on this and get 45mm^3/s volumetric flow and hit some good numbers with some high temp filament. I have completed this build I will be putting up another video but its a silly printer now with all new bearings, some new gears, the hotend, and moving everything under the deck its so nice.

    Hello could you please share the files and parts used for your mods? If you can share some quick instructions it would be greatly appreciated. Great video. Thanks 👍

    wha's the point of purchasing a 200 $ 3d printer and spending 1000$ o mod it? just buy something else.

      yeah, i mean i guess if you have fun doing it and as hobby i cant blame you, but in terms of value for money, he prob would get like a bambu p1p for the money spent

      First thing, I did not buy this printer it was free. Second there is nowhere near 1k woth of parts here. I had most of the parts as spares from my vorons. But if we want to itemize? $35 for the psu, $45 for the m5p mobo, $20 for 5 steppers, $47 fir the 4 stepper motors, I had the bondtech gears extra for the extruder they were spare parts from other kits so $0. $35 for the Cb1 mcu, $17 for wire harneses, and $9 for leds. $12 for drylin bearings. $35 for cut acrylic panels, and $9 for extrusions. So maybe spent $285 (include filament for printed parts)
      Its a hobby and modifying and building is the fun of it. 😊

      In every DIY/maker video comment, there is someone like this. They seem to see everything in terms of optimizing productivity / price ratio. As if they don’t have the ability to grasp the meaning of “hobby”.

      @@lucywang2591 after you have modded the 2nd printer you do not care anymore... it is like working and building pc for years also for playing but in the end, you buy a PS5 and you start playing and enjoying it immediately...

    • @eclypse3d
      @eclypse3d  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope it prints very nicely, close to the same as my Trident, just not as fast due to the bed slinging, but its faster than stock and runs very well.
