There are a few singers that can sing with real passion and draw so much out of the heart. Ofra was one of them. I count myself fortunate to have stumbled onto these vids of her.

Kaddish for all the people I have loved who have passed over. What a beautiful haunting song!! Ofra and the song touch my soul. I would like to see the sub-titles include the Aramaic words in western alphabet as I sing along .......

Of all her music this one touched me most deeply. In retrospect I think perhaps I can consider this song her own kaddish for her self as well as her gift to us all. Of all the kaddish spoken, read or sung hers is the most appealing and universal. It is her voice that rings clearest and sweetest and when Kaddish is spoken in any place I will always remember her gift.

To My Jewish brothers and sisters on this planet I wish a happy and joyful passover or Pesach.
Just like Moses requested of Pharaoh "let my people go" I often think to myself...
...If there is a God please let this planet and it's people be free from the pain and suffering we have thus endured!!
Peace be to all humanity no matter race, creed, faith, background, sex!
I am sure that Jesus would agree being the humanist and empathiser he appeared or was written to be.

Fabulous. When I look at the Montreux 1990 performance clips I am convinced that Ofra was not in the best of health that day - her complexion looks like she was running a temperature. Her voice was not 'firing on all cylinders' for some of the songs - which must be why her voice on the published CD and recent DVD was redubbed. If my interpretation of what I see is correct - what a fantastic effort on Ofra's part !!!

maybe the color was affected by stage lightning? or the color saturation was edited in the DVD for better clarity. that's what i saw from the cover. i prefer the live recordings of the songs than the redubbed ones though. somehow i felt the dubbed versions to be too "studio perfect".

@RevolutionintheUSA I'm sorry for you, and yet SO GLAD ~ when you offer Kaddish you are laying your life down, for another. Now live, for the living making Kaddish for them while there is still time. The dead are with Him now and, for better or worse only Yahushua knows; but very few people understand what level of compassion such a thing as this, takes. Baruch HaShem Yahushua HaMashiach, whom the World calls, J-sus.

i dont know if there's english subtitles on the DVD but i found them from the yahoo group. :) does anyone know the kaddish words beginning from 0:36 to 1:05?

The DVD version of this particular song may not be far changed from this original, but some of the other Montreux songs are out of sync in parts. It is especially bad on the Galbi, etc medley.
It could have been cut better to 'hide the join'. The original sound with these videos is better because it is a truer record of the occasion. There are precious few original videos out there of Ofra - but plenty of recorded-off-TV quality.

    Just putting this here:
She says, in a world context:
For all the world's victims, Kaddish
For all the holocausts' (plural) victims, Kaddish
She purposefully used the plural for holocaust - yet that important extra s is omitted in translations.
As we approach High Holy Days and in the middle, October 7 Commemorations, I think it is important to think about the world that Ofra Haza would have seen now, had she not died so early. In the context of this Kaddish - redemption, forgiveness, salvation, can we make t'shuvah while so many ignore genocide in Gaza and West Bank while grieving for the deaths of those we lost on and since 7/10/23 - and the thousands who died before over many decades of violence? We cannot offend Hashem, greater than all of us. But Hashem weeps for us all as we murder each other and our planet. Surely Ofra Haza's Kaddish is where we need to be heading...
