Ofra, desert, eloquent diva from the poor part of Jerusalam. .Blessings B unto the Yemeni; may they be blessed. Kindly remember, Kashmir is part of us, wherever we R. Remember to pull from the soul, We will miss her. pbuh.
Ladies & Gentlemen: It really hurts this loss of a diva of a quiet nature. And her nurturing nature to all that lives is magnificent. Crying and crying of course, what else can I do.
This song as sung by Ofra Haza took: power, musical dexterity, aerobic athleticism, incredible skill, stamina. Not the first time that I have describe this lady as an athlete, a magician with a column of air, as much as a phenominal vocalist. I'm only listening to this and it leaves me exhausted. What a marathon ! For the religious: Ofra's place now is seated to the right of Gabriel.
Truly one of the greatest voices of all time! Along with Edith Piaf, Amalia Rodriguez, Um Khaltoum. Ofra mesmerizes one into a happiest of dream state, even more so than all the others. May she rest in peace.
Because people are personally biased towards music they favor and are fondly affectionate towards and not other music they deem less favorably; as with any entertainment categorizing, admired briefly for its instant gratification and creature comfort and not affectionately liked for its soulfully musical talent and imagery.
Ofra haza was a very famous israeli singer. She was singing a lot of her songs in hebrew language. I think, that she was very amazing and i love her very much. She died in the year 2000, when she was 43 years old. This song 'kashmir' And its video are also very beautiful.
Some many have tried and failed when trying to cover Led Zep,however ofra brings life to an already amazing track adding the mystical eatern edge the song deserves
This was absolutely Heaven... thank you for sharing this masterpiece.... Led Zeppelin's Kashmir has taken on an entire new meaning after hearing it when it first came out as a teen and now at 54 sung by this angel ... i had never heard of Ofra til this... Peace ...
As a long-time fan of Led Zeppelin, and music in general, I can honestly appreciate this hauntingly beautiful version of Kashmir by Ofra Haza. Her voice is amazing; and while both versions are different, hers is no less moving; and it evokes thought and feeling, just as the mighty Led Zeppelin's original. God rest this beautiful and talented soul...
My tears of pain shall wet the Yemenite desert sands a trillion times over. HEAVENLY SPIRITS, TAKE GREAT CARE OF OFRA....................... shalom to all.
wow wow wow wow wow..*almost fell off the chair* I never heard of this lady before..and now.. what a voice...what a voice...Mezzo..but faultless. And this version of the Kashmir is so beautiful. Oh god she did..why these people die so early. What a talent..OH
La mejor voz k he escuchado en mi vida, si pudiera haría un pacto con Dios para que la trajera devuelta😢😢 se la cambio por todos los reguetoneros de este mundo😔
Ofra Haza is the best. We miss her so much. Beautiful woman, great artistic interpretation. I just discovered her music this year. What a fabulous talent!
I hope that through TH-cam more and more people will discover Ofra Haza and realise what a truly fantastic singer she was. She was supremely talented and endlessly versatile - Oh, what could she have produced for us in the last seven years had her life not been so stupidly squandered by the fool that she married !!!
This is definitely the most beautiful version of this song...Ofra's voice has a crystalline clarity...thank goodness we have her voice forever-preserved in her recordings!
I dont know why I'm drawn to middle eastern music. Ofra has captured with her voice what Led Zeppelin has done with their sound in Kashmir. I would love to hear a middle eastern orchestra perform this song with that haunting desert feel, but still keeping in the original beat of Kashmir and sung by Ofra's beautifull voice. I've enjoyed this rendition of Kashmir, thank you Ofra.
You should check out the version of the song by Plant and Page (two of the Zeppelin members) from their "No Quarter" concert. No one can touch Ofra's vocals, of course, but that version mashes up the original version's rock with a lot of cool Middle Eastern instrumental elements, including strings. Check it out!
Came here based on information provided on wikipedia about the song. This is an excellent version, I prefer it to her other version with the music personally. The band always considered themselves (and least Plant stated) "worldly" so it is fitting that this ladies voice provides her interpretations of this particular song, outstanding.
Same here. Found it through SOM then read about her on Wikipedia and then came back here to find performances. I am impressed and would like to find more from this amazing chanteuse. I believe her 1997 album may be a good place to start. Thanks for turning us on to this.
At first, I was searching for Led Zep's version. For some reason, I can always concentrate better when listening ti Kashmir while writing. Then, I stumbled upon this version... and I must admit, I do not at all regret it. At first, during the first few seconds, I was hesitant to listen to the rest and almost left. I am happy to say I stayed. This is absolutely wonderful! I'm in awe. Such intense feelings come out of it, it brings me on a musical high. The video was also very well made.
who can say this is not just an incredible interpretation of a great song? i am sure led zeppelin would be honored to have been covered by such a unique voice...and by the way,may her soul rest in peace..love ofra haza
I shall miss her. I use to switch back and forth between her, Sheila Chandra and Miriam Makeba and felt a citizen of a beautiful world...but that was years ago. Serenity is where you find it.
first off people need to get over that this is a cover... so what people do covers all the time. She did a great new version of the song. I love it her voice is smoother than chocolate... get over it people she has talent and did a cover song. Thank you all and take care
This reminds me of the first time I heard it in a mystic trance. I have loved Ofra since the first time I heard Im Nim' alu. The mix of the two is in an orgasm of mystic memory and sense......I am grateful to be placed in this universe by the one.
My dear friend, you probably didn't notice, but you wrote Hava instead of Haza. Please don't take it wrong, I don't mean to anger you.🥰🥰🥰 Wish you look in this Corona time.
Speaking of expressing thought and feeling, I always thought Led Zeppelin's Kashmir expressed the brutal harshness of the desert. But Ofra's version makes it out to be a hauntingly lonely place. It's not just hot and deadly. It's empty. It's enormous. And there's just you in it.
Even an iffy cover cannot detract from the excellence of the songwriting. Listen to the chord change at the chorus and the way the vocal note plays. Middleeastern sounding? you damn betcha! Way to go Mr Page!
I cant believe that it has been over 10 years since she passed. I miss you Ofra. Knowing that you are in peace and no longer in pain is such a comfort. I am so glad that you were able to share your voice with the world.
Ofra... The Queen of Beauty.. This is my song to You.. Written for You.. For the whole World to read.. MY ONE EYES MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE MORNING STAR.. THY NAME AND FACE.. THE DESERT STILL WHISPER THY NAME.. I LOVE THEE... MY QUEEN MY LOVE .
I stand corrected, Rachel. Yes, it was Hatikvah, which we should always carry with us throughout life. If we lose hope, then we lose life and purpose. Hope is what carries our spirit forward. Blessings B unto you and your family from Samarqand, Jovano rachelavivaeitan.
I can understand Led Zep fans being hostile to cover versions. But this version in no way disrespects the original. It was never made as a commercial rip-off. It is Ofra's unique take emphasising her Middle Eastern background. After all, the song is set in the East. Aren't there over 100 versions of 'Yesterday'? Never heard Paul McCartney complaining!
Another great song from dear Ofra. What ever she sings, she puts all her effort into it. No one like her. She has a heavenly voice.May we have the joy to hear her in heaven
The moment i started listening to this, i immediately forgot who originally composed and sang it. And i say that, knowing that Led Zeppelin is one of my all time favorite music acts. Now, i know what this song should sound like, from the very beginning. I am in love... with Ofra Haza.
Powerful and dramatic transition for 2 minutes and 15 seconds. As if the wind of the Sahara desert hit the heat. Intersnaya and talented interpretation of the work. The commentary may have been late, but given the immortality of the work of Ofra Haza, it is appropriate.
Remarkable. Ofra was truly one of the greatest voices of the 20th century. A beautiful woman with a beautiful skill. This version is so haunting and meditative. Excelent. You edited and compiled this very well, the images and tempo match the speed and style of the song perfectly. Well done. At least she sings with the other angels now, eh?
I concur, wholeheartedly. This song has the ability to actually TAKE you somewhere else and make 5 minutes seem like an hour! This song is truly Magick, using Middle-Eastern music patterns. Deep Shit!
Looking for Led Zep covers tonight, clicked this, stopped looking. This is absolutely amazing! Her voice is out of this world.
I agree! You should check more of her. She had an outstanding voice.
An angelic voice.
Yes Ofra was an unique voice, really amazing I listen to her for the first time in the 90's since then I haven't found a voice like that
Ofra, desert, eloquent diva from the poor part of Jerusalam. .Blessings B unto the Yemeni; may they be blessed. Kindly remember, Kashmir is part of us, wherever we R. Remember to pull from the soul, We will miss her. pbuh.
She actually grew up in Tel Aviv, yes a poor part of Tel Aviv.
Temani yehudim seeing you from afar with the light they have from HaShem lifts my soul
My Father GRHS is just that light 🕯️
Was always a huge fan of hers. Not sure how I missed this.
RIP always. 😢
Ladies & Gentlemen:
It really hurts this loss of a diva of a quiet nature. And her nurturing nature to all that lives is magnificent. Crying and crying of course, what else can I do.
So very beautiful. When the world lost Ofra, we lost a treasure.
Why the heck is everyone hating this? She took the song and made it her own! Personally I think she did an amazing job!
The way she pronounced "Kashmir", beautiful.
Ofra Haza, what a talented classy woman. Gone too soon. May her memory be for a blessing.
This song as sung by Ofra Haza took: power, musical dexterity, aerobic athleticism, incredible skill, stamina. this voice is a thing that makes me feels like proud to be a human!
Only one word needed to describe this.... "Perfection"
I just can't get over her voice, when she sings you can't help but stop and listen no matter who you are.
One of the most beautiful voices, ever!
This women's voice can wake the pharoah's souls up and make them smile with it's beauty.
Truly one of the greatest voices of all time! Along with Edith Piaf, Amalia Rodriguez, Um Khaltoum. Ofra mesmerizes one into a happiest of dream state, even more so than all the others. May she rest in peace.
I'm totaly agree with you, but you forgot the voice of Miriam Makeba. She must ne on that liste
Kashmir - Heaven on Earth
Ofra Haza - Angel on Earth
I love Led Zeppelin, but nobody can sing desert like a woman coming from desert. RIP Ofra...
Dominika Meštrović ❤️forever u are Alive my Queen.🌈

she's not from a desert... Dammit people, Israel is not a desert. yes, it HAS a desert, but its mostly green!
I don't understand how anyone can NOT like this.
You and me both
Matt Gehringer It’s great. Too bad the iconic riff is missing
Tone deaf people with 0 brain cells with not like this.

I never stop missing Ofra. I wonder how anyone could have been this beautiful.
Ofra Haza..yeaah!!..me gusta mucho la voz q tiene esta mujer...es sublime
......that is what I always say when I listen to Ofra singing this song, at the very end, every time - Brilliant !!!
I love the songs of Ofra Haza - she is such a tragic figure, and her songs reflect in many ways her final departure from this world. So tragic.
Ofra is amazing. And what a beautiful cover she did on this one. Miss her.
I think the best word to describe this version of the song is "haunting." So beautiful and intense.
This was absolutely Heaven... thank you for sharing this masterpiece.... Led Zeppelin's Kashmir has taken on an entire new meaning after hearing it when it first came out as a teen and now at 54 sung by this angel ... i had never heard of Ofra til this... Peace ...

What a very pleasant surprise. Ofra Haza singing LED ZEPPELIN´s "KASHMIR". JUST LOVE THIS!!!!
Hauntingly beautiful! God rest her soul...
I listened to this ten + plus times today all day and don't regret it ! need more songs like this !
This is definitely the most beautiful version of this song...Ofra's voice has a crystalline clarity...thank goodness we have her voice forever-preserved in her recordings!
This version is so different, yet so beautiful
Tellement super. Shalom Ofra...
Not many can beat her on that voice; it is unbelievable how she manage that full control over her voice....powerful in every tone...
Oh no! Oh NO!!!! I have an addiction! It is to this song! The voice of one beyond the grave haunts me! Too beautiful!
Irresistible and enchanting voice.
Never thought one perfect lady would ever influence my life. xxxx if life was more like our beautiful Ofra I would be a happy man. She was beautiful x
Her Husband may have messed up but he couldn't live without her and killed himself a year latter.

Mmm Thanks I'll have a look, Robert and Jimmy sure rock, I remember when Led Zep toured Oz in 73 what a buzz.
Ofra recorded two versions of this song. The other version is more instrumental and faithful to the original.
if u could fall in love with a song then i'm deeply madly in love with this version of kashmir. ofra has a voice that sends souls to heaven 💗❤
When innocence meet evil!!!!
How pure; and how fragile and vulnerable she was because of her innocence and purity....
And an easy prey for a vulture!
Beautiful,Just Beautiful.Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant Ofra !!! Always Brilliant.
Ofra chai, your beautiful voice is a gift of God.

Her use of harmony in the third verse is simply amazing!!!!!

Amazing Ofra Haza , amazing Led Zeppelin!
Ofra brought me here to hear one of her best songs EVER....r.i.p. ofra :(
The world misses such talent.
It wasn't wasted. She gave us beautiful and fun music while she was alive.
Incredible voice.

excellent! merveilleux arrangement.! Cette femme transforme tout en or!
Beautiful cover...R.I.P. beautiful Ofra Hava
My dear friend, you probably didn't notice, but you wrote Hava instead of Haza.
Please don't take it wrong, I don't mean to anger you.🥰🥰🥰

She really, really made the world a more beautiful place.... she did..
Only this lady can do a great cover for a great song from a great band
Even an iffy cover cannot detract from the excellence of the songwriting. Listen to the chord change at the chorus and the way the vocal note plays. Middleeastern sounding? you damn betcha! Way to go Mr Page!
Ethereal, exotic and haunting - the antithesis of Zep . AMAZING
Her voice is calming me , I totally feel relaxed when I listen to her
What a beautiful way to sing this song. Love you Ofra. ❤️
I cant believe that it has been over 10 years since she passed. I miss you Ofra. Knowing that you are in peace and no longer in pain is such a comfort. I am so glad that you were able to share your voice with the world.
Прошло 24 года уже.ЛЮБЛЮ,ПОМНЮ.
Ofra Haza is a Princess of mystic beauty, she will remain so for good. May she rest in peace.
We wept when we heard that she had passed... such dance floor dreams back in the 80s...
this is an incredible piece of music/vocal - without comparing it to anything/anyone else, it stands alone - very moving stuff
Ofra...
The Queen of Beauty..
This is my song to You..
Written for You..
For the whole World to read..
MY ONE
EYES MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE MORNING STAR..
THY NAME
AND FACE..
THE DESERT STILL

THY NAME..
I LOVE THEE...
MY QUEEN
MY LOVE .
One thing i have to say, Ofra Haza has a very beautiful voice. Not to mention the song is very good as well.
Stunning does not do it justice.....Absolutely Beautiful
i like the original version. Ofra's version has a diffrent mood to it, when the song starts relatively slowly and increases in intensity.
Yea, that is my response to about 90% of Ofra Haza's work. Simply, Wow.
I stand corrected, Rachel. Yes, it was Hatikvah, which we should always carry with us throughout life. If we lose hope, then we lose life and purpose. Hope is what carries our spirit forward. Blessings B unto you and your family from Samarqand, Jovano

love her music.......never knew she did this cover.....very VERY nice twist.
Still the only angelic beautiful voice can sings desert with all this passion in veins RIP angel 🙏🏻

So beautiful voice...
RIP great voice.......
I love this. I didn't think it would be possible without the riff or the drums, but it's amazing.
She is in heaven................The most wonderful voice ever
Another great song from dear Ofra. What ever she sings, she puts all her effort into it.
No one like her. She has a heavenly voice.May we have the joy to hear her in heaven
I discovered and loved her in the Sisters of Mercy's song "Temple of Love": heavenly voice+new wave= pure bliss.
The moment i started listening to this, i immediately forgot who originally composed and sang it. And i say that, knowing that Led Zeppelin is one of my all time favorite music acts. Now, i know what this song should sound like, from the very beginning. I am in love... with Ofra Haza.
you are so correct
+nikgml This and Led Zep's versions are perfect.
It's an exceptionally good piece of music isn't it!
No one could blame you ;)
nikgml love is the Cure and the only way
Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! Her voice is divine!

At least she sings with the other angels now, eh?
THE GODESS OF CELESTIAL SINGING...IS FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
she is an angel now.....i feel her
I concur, wholeheartedly. This song has the ability to actually TAKE you somewhere else and make 5 minutes seem like an hour! This song is truly Magick, using Middle-Eastern music patterns. Deep Shit!
Agree definatley :) her voice was haunting and this is an experience for the ears
sa voix est wouaou...! magnifique... c' est une chanson sublimée par une voix sublime...
