While I kinda understand that some people want difficulty/challenging gameplay, it should *never* come in the form of just massive HP bars that require the wrath of God to take down. Let the player feel powerful at times. Not your destroyer way up in orbit.
They make it a big point to emphasize that the largest part of your arsenal IS strategems to be fair. Quoting General Brasch in the tutorial: "It's just you, the gun in your hand, and 20,000 kilotons of explosives in close orbit. THAT'S IT!" Also the enemy health is still the same across the board no matter the difficulty. Things like that Tripod have a low armor penetration weakness on the eye, medium-armor weakness on the leg joints with less health than the eye, and a heavily armored shell that requires Anti-Tank to pierce if you go at it head-on and bluntly instead of attacking weak points. The Illuminate Overseers (guys with staffs) have light armor on all of their bodies except the helmet, which has medium armor. Voteless are vulnerable to all forms of weaponry, but are especially vulnerable to DOT like flames, gas, and strafing runs to mow them down when they run in a pile. The tactics against the Illuminate are different, but have counters to work against them. There are hard counters to all enemies as well as all the other enemies in-game, a big thing Bret made a mistake on is picking some of the less great options for weaponry because he's straight up forgotten lol Like out of all the special grenades he had to pick he went to the default grenade which now does shrapnel damage more than explosive, and for horde-like enemies he picked the Slugger which fires single shots and he kept getting overwhelmed and ganked; Illuminate are a blend of both factions with horde enemies and hard-hitting ranged, man's worked against himself and contributed to his frustration. Which of course we love him for
