Appreciate you laying it out simply for people to understand the effects of the changes being made over time as well as sharing your frustration with the results. I've been confused lately why my average performance seems to be more and more dependent on the specific chassis I'm taking out even disregarding legendaries.
They've butchered this game so bad with nerfs and perks that they have niche pet bias mechs that are obscure to anyone new to the game. The second you introduce perks you introduce corruption and power creep. They should have designed the game around the inclinations of the centre of mass in the bell curve of player skill level, not elite top tier players who understand how to abuse everything in this game. Imagine jettisoning 4/5th's of your clients for the top 10%'s opinions while simultaneously claiming to try and make the game more accessible.
Light Mech is like an Assault Mech now, I swear I needed to do the same damage to a Light Mech as to a Assault Mech to Kill it. I was blasting a light Mech with AC5s and it just won't die, it can tank like an Assault.
Many lights have bugged hitboxes, bugged JJ animation, and get a free lag shield on top of that. Plus the game's hitreg can just randomly take a shit when there's a lot of action happening at once. I've had numerous times over the years where on my screen, I'm blapping a light in the face over and over and over, yet according to the game every shot is missing, or if it does hit, barely scratches the light mech's paint. Welcome to MWO.
And I thought it was just me. You can wear out a light and some mediums and it seems like you aren’t even hitting them at all. Of course the piss poor size scale for lights being so damn small for the weight they carry makes it even tougher but the hit boxes and hit registers are lacking. 👍
Some of the light mechs have bugged hitboxes now, TTB once got a match where he shot 2 AC/20s onto the side torso of a Javelin at point blank and it did no damage.
That's called a purposely inputted "hit-reg" setting , disguised as a server problem by either pgi, cauldron, or both. Same thing happens to me with all varieties of PPCs, clan and IS. It's how they, ( pgi/cauldron ) mitigate large Alpha damage.
I remember I quit the game when they nerfed heat cap and buffed dissipation. Coupled with quirks it really made lights OP because before you had to run away after 3-4 alphas to cool down, and after you could 1v1 any mech and everyone began to nascar on top of it.
Imo of they really wanted to nerf cDHS in a more understanding way, they would have nerfed heat capacity and not dissipation. You want to discourage high alpha lazvoms? Make it too hot to do without shutdown. Heat dissipation just nerfs all the play styles regardless and it's dumb.
The balance is way too much in favor of lights and mediums at the moment - however im not sure how else you would balance weight classes otherwise - even in CBT an assault mech would have a BV which is several multiples of a light mech equivalent. Perhaps the balance issues are more apparent when you are a competitive caliber player like yourself, and perhaps not so much at the casual level. I agree they need to make heavies and assualts better in general.
Real shit Mediums suck fat dick. They are too big and too heavy to have the dodginess of Lights and not nearly enough tonnage to get enough damage in the current high alpha meta and hyperquirks. They are too squishy for what they offer compared to other classes. If your alpha is less than 50 you're legitimately trolling at this point
Data, what can I do to help get this changed? Is there a forum that I can post on? Are there people I can directly communicate with? I have steadily played this game and invested a modest amount of money in over the past four to five years and I couldn’t agree more with your take about lights and mediums fucking the game. What can be done?!
@ I understand that, but I don’t want the game to die and my piddly amount of money I’ve spent over the last few years is not keeping them in business. What I’m asking is how do I get involved? Seriously. This game should be skill based. How do we get it back to that? Piranha just lost employees, now is the time to push for a new direction. Data, in my opinion has always been a sensible voice of reason. Mechs have weight classes and roles and we need to get back to that.
@@lucasfelix8561 it has like no armor at all, and it's heatsinks are dogshit and it's an omni with little space so you can't stack dhs and you can't stack shs so it just dies
@@lucasfelix8561 Blood Asp Assaults aren't really assaults as they can't lead the front, it must be played like a Heavy Mech staying behind giving support fire.
It's because of bs like this that I stopped playing. Piranha Games should get people who play the game to make any changes, not some DEI hire. Maybe MW5 Clans would've worked.
@@ratofnihm Dude MW5Clans writing was atrocious. One thing that couldve been done: Smoke Jaguar being Smoke Jaguar. The number 1 ruthless clan of the entire setting cant be ruthless for once. Every mechwarrior we control can be anything but a Smoke Jaguar. Hell it felt i was playing Clan Wolf for Gods sake. Maybe @Sharrowkin is wrong about DEI but the writing feels like a DEI work.
Thats the best part - people who play the game ARE in charge of balance. Its just that they buff their favourite mechs and nerf everything that can possibly harm them, just look at the new commando with all torso slots.
