Well, the movie literally introduce all the characters with baseball cards statistics.
if you really think about it, she had no purpose of being in this movie
TOKAGERO1 The movies you mention have a fluid visual style because they're consistent. It doesn't work that way when you introduce all the characters in one stylish way, and then you go "...ohhh yeah, by the way, she's Katana. Her swords is evil or something. Look, that's Slipknot: the man that can climb everything. LoL Brb."
The movie abandons its "wacky" editing style by the second act.
The fundamental problem about Katana was having a lot of characters without enough screen time devoted to each one of them. They literally had to cram her whole character in a bad written sentence.

I think the biggest problem with Suicide Squad is a misunderstanding of what you use them for. The Suicide Squad is NOT a group you send to save the world. It is a group you send to some real shady shit like carry out a political assassination. The problem with Suicide Squad is that they want to paint them as antiheroes or heroes with troubled backgrounds when they are really just villais doing evil things that don't benefit the villains. You don't call in the Suicide Squad because you want them to do good. You call in the Suicide Squad because you want them to do some bad.
They're nothing more than scapegoats.
They sent them in to save Waller's ass. Their mission is not to stop the Enchantress; they decided to do that themselves. The movie made this clear.

Deadshot was no where near as cold hearted and merciless as he is in the comics.
Thank you, oh my god, that was actually my main criticism of this film. everybody who argued for this film said that people didn't like it because it was faithful to the comics, but if they knew the comics they'd know that the Suicide Squad rarely does this kind of mission.

This movie would be great if the joker was the villain.. you would recruit the suicide squad to take him down. The thought being that the joker is so unpredictable we need other villains to figure him out.
Q Crew that actually would make more sense, not as much as them being a secret group of Assassins for the government like the comics but so much more than what we got
Putting Harley in the team would even make sense as the government could use her to attract Joker. What a waste of a promising plot.

Will Smith wasn't actually a good Deadshot. Deadshot is an assassin who would kill Harley on sight if it meant having his daughter back, not some nice guy trying to bring everyone together. Will was basically just playing himself.

Danny Malzahn I'm not taking about where are they now. I am talking about the movie. Their first encounter was not really on good terms ever and if Deadshot were to make the same choice having just met her and not like her, he would have killed her on sight. Since you know, all he cared about was saving his daughter in the first place. Movie Deadshot was kind of a nice guy basically trying to keep his little team alive and worrying about Harley which would never happen in the comics or the other movies like Assault on Arhkam.
gabriel mevs So the script was to have a jolly guy instead of the antisocial broody asshole he kinda is? I mean they did a perfect job with Harley, how did they fail this? Then again they failed with the Joker and should we blame the script or Jared?
Danny Malzahn The awesome shooter part was good but his character was kinda off. And he kinda cared from the start because they introduced him like that. I mean it's Will Smith so it had to be a cheery likable character I guess.
I don't know, to each there own. This is just my opinion.

DC is great at making promising trailers and not delivering. We can only hope that someday they will live up to their potential.
+Luke Baker At least WW can focus on WW. BvS had to introduce Batman and Wonderwoman while also setting up Justive League, Suicide Squad had to introduce an entire ensamble. MoS was arguably the best film in this universe and it was a standalone that was allowed to focus on just Superman, so there's some of for WW.
It didnt have to do any thing other than tell a coherent story. WW could have been left out of BVS and it would not have changed any thing.
Wonder Woman has a lot more hope based on not needing to set up other future films as its set 100 years before the events of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. So it can be its own film.

The sky beams are so true though. I never noticed till now. XD
Not. Really. At all. I mean, yeah, they are "sky beams" on the sense that there are beams which are directed upwards, but despite their visual similarity, their functions and roles are so different. From the examples shown:
The Avengers: a portal for an invading alien force.
Iron Man: the discharge of the Ark reactor's energy that defeated the Iron Monger suit.
Captain America: a portal that the Red Skull opened when he touched the Tesseract and sucked him somwhere.
Big Hero 6: a portal to another dimension (I think) that's being used as the tool of revenge from the movie's villain and clearly isn't in beam form, so why was it even shown?
Those are the ones I know.
And just to clarify: I'm not being fanboyish about it (that comes later), I'm just pointing out that this point may not be as valid as presented.
Vinícius Panato Osório I think those are technicalities for their function. It is still a "Doomsday sky beam". Hollywood has gotten lazy and use similar effects for a lot of their movies. Kind of like how most trailers now have the three hit action drums and the Inception horns. Of course it isn't the SAME sound for every movie trailer, but it is so close that they got their name for a reason. Same concept here.
If something is going to destroy the planet, it's more than likely a giant sky beam.
It's still not the same, though. Again, in Iron Man and Captain America, they have nothing to do with the villains plot and, again, the one from Big Hero 6 isn't even a sky beam.
Vinícius Panato Osório In Avengers the skybeam opened the portal and let the aliens in.... it doesn't matter if it does something different. The fact remains is that it shot a bright light into the sky. I haven't seen Big Hero 6 so I can't say. In Avengers if it was making a portal they could have warped in like Thor does with the Bifrost, or how Strange teleports with the rings of fire looking stuff. But instead, it was a skybeam. Marvel isn't the only movie series to use them, a lot of hollywood movies and even cartoons use them.
Yeah, yeah. I get what you're saying and what the argument is: that the, how you put it, doomsday skybeams are becoming kind of a cliché. I even kinda agree, although I don't like these generalizations. My point is just that some of the examples are just... Not. But, even without them, the trend ia clear.

maybe problem is DC dont have "movie studio" unlike marvel they had their own and lead team while dc still stuck under warner bros. they should give 100% creativity to DC handling movies... but nope... i think in warner bros has more ass hole higher up that doesn't know how dc world works. then marvel higher up had some of them understand...

She's an amazing actress, as seen in Wolf of Wall Street, and her New York accent is perfect. As good as she was in this movie, with better direction she should have been theorist true film incarnation of the character. Unfortunately her talent was wasted like the rest of the cast

Joker literally had no effect on the plot whatsoever. All he does is “save” Harley, but then gets shot down 10 seconds later and she just rejoins the squad, making the entire side-plot of his rescue attempt completely pointless.

This was reported as a terrorist attack. Batman or any other heroes would have no idea a superhuman witch is behind this. Since the city is already evacuate, why would the be here?

Because there is a giant light show in the sky that has been there for like over a day and there is no reason why Batman/Flash/etc. wouldn't do anything during a terrorist attack? Even if they prefered to let the government take care of it they should at least get some info. And batman usually takes on "normal" guys, he is still going to intervene even if he doesn't know that are superhumans.

The thing that really hurts is that we know the WB is capable of putting out a decent superhero flick. The Dark Knight wasn't THAT long ago. But they are so focused on trying to have Marvel success without putting in the work for it, and yet trying to be the anti-Marvel by making everyone super-angsty, Hot Topic "edgy" that they can't focus on just making a single movie, with a vision for the character that is actually faithful to the source material. I think that's why a lot of us actually have hope for the Wonder Woman movie. It has some color to it! It looks like it's having fun! It actually looks to be faithful to the character of Wonder Woman. It may still be a complete dumpster fire like the rest of the DCEEU, but at least it doesn't look like it will be for the same reasons.
Yeah they shot themselves in the foot twice with these movies rushing them to compete and catch up with MCU while also if audiences are not satisfied they want you to pay extra money for the movie equivalent of Dlc which isnt really even Good type of movie Dlc. Hopefully Wonder Woman can help DC as I like both Marvel and DC.
