What an amazing performance. Although the sound quality of the recording leaves much to be desired, still his virtuosity comes through to the listener. There's an added bonus for guitarists. You can see the fingering he uses for each piece. Thank you for posting this on YT.
Than you SO much for uploading this recital. I've waited for years to be able to see a full set of David in a live setting like this. What consummate musicianship and control of the instrument he has! I love this. Again, THANK YOU!
Love it when he is not happy with the low G tuning in "Un sueño en la floresta" - so he keeps adjusting without missing a f... beat, Lord, and what playing, immaculate. At 1:05:52 he adjusts the tuning and has to change the fingering in order to play the harmonics while adjusting. Then, at 1:07:12, he plays that high C on the guitar that doesn't even have the required 20th fret. Amazing performance all throughout...
Agree his performance is great. Got to break it to you though, the harmonics on that section of Floresta are well established as an opportunity to fine-tune the guitar as most will have gone out of tune due to the alternate tuning so he has practiced that many times. No alchemy there!
+pistiick One of the best yeah, for sure, I think I'd argue though that Aniello Desiderio has the best fingers/coordination though, check out some of his Paganini and Scarlatti ones in particular and you'll be astonished, but it's not a competition ;-)
Yes, it´s possible, Aniello seems to be absolutely flawless. David have said in one interview that Aniello has also much stronger fingers than him. These maestros are simply incredible, but D. Russell is my most favorite, for his tone and elegant manner.
+netzero07 John Williams seems to have absolute technical mastery, I never saw him miss a note, especially his left hand is amazing. Of course John Williams is also one of favourite classical guitarists. But somehow David Russell has that "vibe" which to me is so beautiful :)
And he doesn't, too. See 00:32:02 I should be G/E/D/B.Where is the E? Not there, because hard to play? Actually I am sure he could play it. But then he would have to use no D tuning on the 6th. And that is possible too. A little to fast as well, which brings him into technical difficulties. But saying that, still he is David Russell.
He really put on a show that night.I've seen him several times, but never that extensive a program.I did attend an 8 hr master class of his though. He's tireless
hola. i read in an russell's interiew that he some times use to eliminate some notes, frequently when he plays chords, because it isn't important for the musical result,
i like the natruel sound of a guitar i know Russel play great so it have notting to do whith him but its more the recording of this it sounds teibel to me
Where did they record this, a dentist's office? There is so much of Russell's recorded playing that is just the most awful to listen to because of ghastly recording. I've heard early recordings of Segovia that had much better fidelity.
David Russell is a nice guy and it shows in his playing. Whereas the two attention grabbers, Williams and Bream, put their energy in promoting themselves.
I disagree. Russell is very good but Williams is a step above. Listen to Williams play Un sueno and you will know that. Bream put more emotion into his music than both of them. They are all different but Williams and Bream were very special, most would agree.
Aside from even his dexterity and accuracy , what a memory he has !! The DR does it again ! Wish they kept the applause in at the end..! !
David Russell is THE MASTER his guitar sounds so sweet! bravo
Impresionante intepretación de un repertorio "top". ¡¡ Bravo, maestro !!
Breathtaking playing! David Russell is THE MASTER
Yes monstrous and that Sor was pretty badass I might add! Thanks for the times too...
some really beautiful guitar playing here.
Parabéns! Linda execução, a dedicação está valendo a pena. 👏👏👏👏
brillante!!!!!! La Chacona con un estilo haendeliano esta fabulosa!!!!! EXCEENTE TREMOLO!!!!. Gracias..

I love this.
Again, THANK YOU!
Quite an eccentric rendition of Adelita
One of the finest concerts I have heard!
Man, that is quite a program.
Un guitariste qui fait honneur à la Musique. Bravo au grand David !

The description is correct. *monstrous programme*
Impresionante 😵😮💨🙌🏻
Da placer escuchar y ver su tecnica...felicitaciones!!
thank you for uploading! my favorite guitarist and seems to be such a nice guy too. his guitar sounds so sweet!
Gran Master!!!
indeed a monstrous program
De los mejores del mundo sin ningun lugar a duda!
What a man!
Sometimes it´s quite useful to study their videos and turn the sound off, just to observe movements.
There's a lot of truth in this. I bet if u asked him, he'd tell you how important posture and position is to playing.
Cool rare video..nice playing.
grandisimo concierto
he could pick his nose while playing and not miss a beat
He has the best hands among classical guitarists.
+pistiick One of the best yeah, for sure, I think I'd argue though that Aniello Desiderio has the best fingers/coordination though, check out some of his Paganini and Scarlatti ones in particular and you'll be astonished, but it's not a competition ;-)

+pistiick One of the best of course, my favorite hands are John Williams :)

I love it!!!
AFTER WATCHING THIS, I WOULD NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO SEGOVIA ANY MORE !
Violin Luu why
+Violin Luu (Doctor Luu) I watch and listen to anything and everything classical guitar related I can find... And I always go back to Segovia :)
Thanagan Segovia still the best guitarist in the world
+chí trung bùi trần It's okay to have a favourite guitarist as long you can still appreciate others.
David Lightfoot thanks for letting us like who we want so white of you
so difficult to play and even more, to memorize..
Someone feel free to post the pieces in the comments section
Yes, you're right. Thanks.
The recording quality is bad enough that I can't watch this. Rock on, Professor Russell!
And he doesn't, too. See 00:32:02 I should be G/E/D/B.Where is the E? Not there, because hard to play? Actually I am sure he could play it. But then he would have to use no D tuning on the 6th. I already thought it was a Sor. ;)
Thanks!
That is interesting!!!

how does someone become that impossibly amazing at guitar? it blows my mind, amazing
Fernando Sor op. 54 Morceau de Concert
Nice
i like the natruel sound of a guitar i know Russel play great so it have notting to do whith him but its more the recording of this it sounds teibel to me
he a real marksman with those fingers
Is that m,a,i,m on the tremolo?
His right hand is magically enhanced... LOL!!
In what year was recorded this concert?
will any guitarist ever make the effort to play this piece the way it was composed!?! I figured D. Russell would be the one to pull it off!
Que guitarra está usando?
What's the first piece he plays?
Morceaux de concert op 54 Fernando Sor
Looks like a cordoba c5 or C7.. I'm sure it's not...
46:13 someone smacks camera operator upside the head for illegally recording!?!?
Where did they record this, a dentist's office? There is so much of Russell's recorded playing that is just the most awful to listen to because of ghastly recording. I've heard early recordings of Segovia that had much better fidelity.
its blurry too!Why dont people get better freakin' cameras!?!lol
I love David Russell but the sound quality of this recording is terrible.
38:07 - 38:12 - 38:14 - 38:24 - 38:28
Actually the Chaconne was always crippled by guitarist for playability reason. And that is not required.
大卫罗素的干净立整劲,让人感叹!
It's a shame the audio quality is so hideous. Better with the noise in than that horrible noise reduction artifacting.
Certainly an amateur video recorded on a HCam. What a pity...

awful sound but remarkable breath taking playing from a true true master, every piece is nectar of the gods.
