David Russell is a perfect guitarist. To me he's the fusion between Bream and Williams: he is a virtuoso player and his musical interpretation is exquisite.
Gracias
Gracias David!!!

My first time hearing the complete Handel Suite. Stunning performance from one of my favorite classical guitarists along with Bream, Presti, Dylla, and Marco Socias and a handful of other greats.
+Tim Penfield i've been able to sense that in his recordings. he seems so real and genuine in his performances, and that comes through in the music. a few months ago, i found a video of him playing live a work by a chilean composer, and at the end of the video he smiled and waved at the camera. i thought that was so great. here is one of the best guitarists in the world, and he can see his performance as just something he does. it was like he was saying 'aw, that wasn't so great' when in fact it was very great. muchas gracias y saludos desde Tokio.
Oh my God! I think I ascended to Heaven at 14:05. I have never heard him play this work, what an astounding feat. The Queen should 'Knight' him. Astounding. I am surprised as I have heard a lot of his playing and love most of it and think of it as the best examples in many cases but this work is even more significant. Thanks for posting this.
How on earth can no fewer than nine supposedly sentient human beings disapprove of such sublime musical and technical mastery as this? It boggles the mind! If brains were a disease, each and every one of these people would surely be given a clean bill of health...
My first thoughts exactly... after contemplating it acoustic guitar does give room for that sound depending on the body and where it's picked. Anyways, this guy is really really good.
At Minute 10, Second 22, we hear that brilliant movement (gig?) that Ida Presti and Alexandre Lagoya ripped through with total perfection and virtuosity. I love David's solo interpretation equally.
I agree. Unfortunately his recordings in the last 20 years have sounded too rushed / nervous and overplayed to me. He was always a bit on the fast side for me interpretationally, but that has only gotten worse. His 80's recordings are incredible, of course he is a player of the highest caliber.
I actually already bought this sheet :) Started learning the Andante thinking that must be the easiest one... It still really hard, with those stretches.
I got 2 copies. The first one was damaged for ‘stress’ ... I heard it too much times. This album marked a before and after for classical guitar and specially, for the modern playing technique. No doubt.
TOOXICFOX 98,90 ? This price is very high. May be they put this price because it seems the first edition on cd, but remember that the first release was in LP vinyl. Don’t wait more. I searched and ... you can buy it directly from GHA (the original record label) in a new release at 15 € only ! www.gharecords.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=72
@@llp0001 Thank you so much for your time. It is undoubtedely an amazing recording which finally makes justice to the potential of both the performer and the instrument. I will definitely take a look at that link you sent me. Can't wait until I hear that majestic first arpeggio of the Haendel Suite at my place.
No doubt, Russel is a great guitarplayer ... but I suggest to listen to the version of german maestro Lawall, who adds all the needed scalework to the Sarabande (Handel only wrote the skeleton-chords). Listen to the registers, to the cadenzas, the easy flowing tempos. Maybe we can start a discussion then. And don't be irritated, Lawall plays it in a-minor (5 halftones deeper). th-cam.com/video/zloo6LUaUXE/w-d-xo.html&t=
I will be the only one who says: he is a great player, but i don't like this sound and i don't like his, and everybody's technical approach. Technique is a requirement for making MUSIC.
David Russel is one of the best guitar players. Technic and interpretation 10 points
David Russell is a perfect guitarist. To me he's the fusion between Bream and Williams: he is a virtuoso player and his musical interpretation is exquisite.
Great description of him!
Along with the Barrueco, setting the standard for the generation after Bream and Williams.
True 🙌
David Russell: master of the trills!
Best baroque guitarist by far!
David Russell's interpretation is medecine for my soul. A bit of Heaven on Earth.
Thank you Master.
I got this CD more than 20 years ago after his recital hold in Taiwan. It is still my favorite today.
SO AMAZING. David Russell always has this balance between musicality and awesome technique.
Really impressive technique , and elegant sound overall.
Listening to this recording you might think this music was written for guitar! It's even better than on the the harpsicord. Marvellous!
This is the best classical guitar performance I've ever heard.
Gracias

Wow, what a performance! His interpretation of Handel is flawless!
My first time hearing the complete Handel Suite. Stunning performance from one of my favorite classical guitarists along with Bream, Presti, Dylla, and Marco Socias and a handful of other greats.
Those who play guitar know that this performance is scary good
This is utterly superlative playing!!
Beyond perfect.
Such a beautiful performance, David Russell is my all time favorite classical guitar player, it's nice he is still doing tours.
This is the most wonderful piece that I think. so, with Russell playing, that's really fantastic.
Thanks so much for sharing this ! the whole suite
iv seen this guy teach a master class at USC in the 80s. the guy just gets things flowing for his students. no ego, he doesn't need 1

Praise the LORD!... Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. (Psalm 150)
I attended a recital by Maestro Russell a couple of years ago. If he isn't the best classical guitarist in the world then he is certainly a contender.
I am so fortunate to have found your music! Does sound like a harpsichord! Superb!!!👏👏👏
Beautiful interpretation
Excellent.
Splendid two chord trills.
Beautiful.
Another incredible masterpiece, what a wonderful performance!

Humans show envy, very often.
Cerebral Palsy. They missed the Like button... and charity to all.
Who cares about them!!!
Wonderful playing ! Thank you so much :)
magistral. thanksgiving David-Bach...
amazing... peaceful...
Como siempre , extraordinario !!
Beauty and Perfection
Stunning.
Wonderful. The best.
For me the best living guitarist...
It even sounds like a harpsichord ( hope that's a compliment ! )......
Mark Harris k lol guess it sounds like a harpsichord
Mark Harris eh harpsichords sound beautiful too
It is. The John Gilbert guitar heard here is an incredibly bright, sensitive, even-sounding and gloriously responsive instrument.
My first thoughts exactly... after contemplating it acoustic guitar does give room for that sound depending on the body and where it's picked. Anyways, this guy is really really good.
😅
wonderful!!
Precioso, maravilloso 👏
so much memorization...

yes, your most true statement is that you are in the minority in your opinion, Daniel. Listen again is my best advice to you...
