Very informative and entertaining video! Loved the visuals so much! I’m a recent non us img interested in anesthesiology applying for the 2022 match. What do you my chances are to matching and what can I do to prep my cv and what do interviewees expect me to be like? TIA!

Thank you so much for watching! To improve Your chances for match, you should be getting as much anesthesia experience as possible and securing strong letters of recommendation. research/publications are also very helpful for your application. On interview day, you’ll be expected to have good communication skills, be affable, and handle any questions comfortably (rarely will you be asked any anesthesia knowledge questions but it could happen)..basically your interviewer is doing a personality check. Be best self. All the best to you!!

Hi Dr. I heard you mention you are a preceptor to a student. How might one get an elective in anesthesia with you as a fourth year?

Hi Arlyn yes I work with the medical students our hospital trains who are rotating through Anesthesia during 3rd and 4th yr..usually they are the students in our medical college (New York Medical College) but perhaps you can apply for an away rotation once COVID restrictions are lifted. All the best to you!

Hey I know this is off topic but I just saw your anesthesiologist at home vid and I am wondering when your off are you off or on call

Sometimes I am on home call, where I can be called in for emergencies and need to be within a maximum of an hour away from the hospital. Those backup calls are infrequent for me though. Usually when I’m home, I’m off.

Did you take any subspecialties after your residency?

Do you have a set curriculum for CA-1’s you work with?

Yes, and milestones we evaluate. For example, by the end of the 1st month (July) we review the basics (pharmacology, etc) and give lots of opportunity to develop skills ( IVs, etc). Expectations start off low and then. There are gradual increases in expectations and difficulty as the 1st year goes on.
