Aetas are the original or first Filipinos. Some of us became brown because of intermarriage from the trades of other Asian countries such as China, India and etc. Then colonized by Spain, America and Japan then those who seek asylum Jews, Vietnamize, Koreans and many other people who migrated to our country.
I am a Filipino and I hate words like white supremacy. I do not like the narrator pandering to leftist talking points by painting with a broad brush a whole race with his bias or racist remarks. It was the American Government of that time who had this policy and never mind if it was run by mostly European politicians, that does not make all whites racists. Filipinos are a proud race and we do not believe in victimhood like a lot of Black American social leaders. We know how to pick ourselves up no matter how many times we fall. We were colonized by many people, oppressed, persecuted, brutalized and treated like animals but we never let the pain of history saddle us with this emotional baggage . We feel no hate for the people of any of these countries that have conquered us. We are God fearing, we love all people and this is grounded on our Christian values. Our political and social ideologies are shaped by what Jesus has taught us... "Let those who have not sinned cast the first stone". We can be happy with what little we have because we aspire for something greater than this world. Now understand why Filipinos you meet smile at you, a genuine smile, despite his status in life, in poverty or affluence. A true Filipino does not harbor hate nor grievances from injustice that happened a long time ago. Filipinos are forgiving to a fault. Some people blame us for having a short memory that is why keep electing corrupt politicians over and over again. They say God gave us a paradise where we can live, an archipelago dotted with powdery white sands, lush forests, green mountains, abundance in natural resources both in land and sea and to cap it, a sunny weather all year round. And then He gave us corrupt politicians. Can't have it all.
