🎉 I just scraped the wax off the bass reeds of my prewar Scandalli. Did the gaskets last night - waiting for more bellows pins to come in to fill missing ones
I've gotten the hang of tuning but I'm having trouble with tuning the second voice reeds to get the right tremolo effect. Do you start by tuning both reeds to concert pitch then tune the tremolo reed up little by little checking until it sounds right? Should both reeds together register on a tuner perfect on the note or will it be slightly offset because of the tremolo?
Hello Good question ! What I do is work out which set of reeds is tuned to the pitch of the accordion. Eg A440( this can be tricky as some accordions are tuned to various standards eg AA42 , 438 etc - if I'm not sure I use the bass reeds as a reference as they will all be tuned to the pitch of the accordion I will then tune these reeds to their pitch eg AA440 Then I will play these reeds and the tremolo set of reeds together and measure the difference in pitch between 2 reeds using my Dirks tuner app. Sometimes the tremolo set of reeds is tuned BELOW the tuning of the reeds tuned to pitch which means if you flatten a tremolo reed you will get more tremolo !!- most of the time the tremolo reeds are tuned slightly above the reeds tuned to pitch . I hope this helps Good luck! 😊
I'm glad you are going to show the how's of how to tune.
Is that “those were the days” at the end lol, I recognize one finally 😂

Hey there Rich, I think that's three sets of middle Reed playing as opposed to two. I can tell by the sound of the Tremolo

What kind of glue should I use?
Also what kind of glue for the metal corners?
Thanks
The bellows gasket is self adhesive
For the bellows corners I use super glue
