lately, all super mario 3 TASes look the same for me, they are so optimized that unless someone finds a way to ignore autoscrolling we will only get small frame optimizations
Hahaha! I have recovered from my death in the first game, *AND NOW I TOOK OVER THE WORLD!* Uh.... boss? There's s ...something wrong with Mario... What is it? Well... he's already here in Dark La-. *_WHAT!? We JUST STARTED this WAR!?!?_* (Faint wahoo's in the distance) *HE'S IN THE CASTLE!!!* *_QUICK, GET TO TH_* "Hi."
I was able to do that hyper-backward-running with a broken D-pad. All I did was press the D-pad in the center part (where there was the small dimple) and I was zipping around the levels.
@Speed-Man So, your D-pad has to be loose. When I did it, I was using a third-party controller which wasn't built the greatest, which meant the D-pad was loose on mine after heavy use. In the Super Mario All Stars version of SMB3, pressing both forward and backward on the D-pad somehow confuses the game to propelling the player forward, and only forward, at ludicrous speed (I found out this was a TAS-only trick as the player couldn't normally press 2 directions on the D-pad at once). Have fun zipping through the Mushroom Kingdom!
there's that theory even claimed by miyamoto himself that SMB3 is a stage play, but the way it's projected in the SNES and GBA versions would suggest otherwise
@@itskdog Oh yeah, he didn't actually include it in the TAS... On our SMB3 NES TAS, we made comments in the emulator which were then added to the TH-cam video, I thought it was the same case here. My bad!
Thanks for adding notes in the CC of the video. I wish more TAS releases did that.
They do that for every TAS that has subtitles in it. The person who makes the TAS adds the subtitles

Plus the neat bit at 3:33 (see captions for details)

@Javion Matthias yeah no one does give a shit
lmao🤣
I like that the CCs give details about the techniques used. Good job!

I like the part where he's building up p speed
The most swag part is not simply the farming of 1-ups, but how two 1-ups per jump can be gotten...
We need a TAS to figure out how to do wrong warp in all stars SMB3.
You probably can’t do it anyway cause new technology
I think it's still possible, but just a very low chance of making that happen.

I like how Princess Peach's trademark speech was in Japanese. Excellent run, Maru! Sorry I'm a little late in observing it :P
“Thank you, peace has finally returned to the mushroom world. The end.”
just take so many years wow :o
A great example of why pressing LEFT+RIGHT should be banned from speedruns.
A great example of why left+right isn’t possible on a normal snes controller
it's not even possible on rta lmfao tasvideos prioritizes speed and entertainment and because it has the tools to do what humans couldnt they do it
TAS: *grabs fire flower*
Me: Ah shit, here we go again
How many lives did you get in a single level?
*99?*
Impressive.
same with 1-2 but it takes longer
Mario used Moonwalk.
Same tech Alucard game Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
Amazing record
Credits be like: look at these 6 worlds you didnt experience!
pretty nice tas
tentei várias vezes jogar esse Mário mas nunca consegui sair do primeiro mundo
Wow, I had no idea that Mario All-Stars Mario 3 had physics more broken than the original Mario 3.
it’s almost as jank as SMM2
Are there usually helpful captions for TAS videos or have I been missing them? This one's pretty good :)
While it is a built-in feature in some emulators, not too many uses them.
Tompa A
this is the TH-cam captions, not anything in the TAS itself.

@@TompaA I know Lord Tom uses it.
@@arfansthename Yes, Lord Tom added it to all our SMB3 TASes, including his own.
I don't know why everyone be talking about Mario being a genocider, he let the Koopalings do their vibin'.
How come there's no "Uses Hardest Difficulty" category in this run? The run itself uses the Japanese version of the game.
here i am using doors like a chump...
