Skip Ewing's not only writes songs, he paints them so we can not only hear them but also see them. His song will define music history. Thank you, Skip!
I LOVE Skip Ewing because of the way his lyrics melt in my heart. This man is SO UNDERRATED. His music is what needs to be played by today's stations. I love him so much that at one time, I was a member of his fan club. My favorite songs are "Coast of Colorado" and "The Gospel According to Luke". I could listen to these two songs forever and never get tired of either one. Skip, I love you. My favorite songs calm me down when I'm stressed out. Thanks so much, Skip. Your lifetime fan, Dave
I love him too. I think he pissed some important people off back then. He was pretty cocky. Absolutely one of the best singer/songwriter's ever though.
Skip painted a detailed pic of my old block called misionary ave almost lost my life there in 88 but after a stroke from alcohol poisoning I recovered to enjoy S E music.clean and 70 today.
There is little I can say about Skip Ewing that hasn't already been said but I would simply add this. He has what today's music world has so universally lost. The ability to write and perform music that is simple, relevant, and undeniably pleasant to the ear.
Many years ago I wrote a short story about Luke after I heard this song... Every time I think times are hard I think about the apostles how 13 men with the voice of the Savior changed the world...
I was staying at a hotel in Milwaukee, WI a while after Coast of Colorado came out. I had the tape in my car and I had been listening to it when I dropped off the car at the parking valet. When I picked my car up later that afternoon, the same valet brought it to me. He asked me who was on the tape that was playing. I told him and he raved about how good the song and the singer were. I gave him the tape. I'm guessing he wore it out! I did pick up another copy that afternoon.
One of my very favorite singers/songwriters. Another country singer that country radio has forgotten about. I listen to Skip's cds all the time. The music of the late 80's/early 90's was the best and I miss hearing it on radio.
Skip Ewing is that rare singer/songwriter who touches your soul with every song he sings. I'm so glad they have TH-cam so his music can touch another generation. I've been a fan since the 80s and still never get tired of hearing his beautiful songs 🎵 💕 ❤.
This Song, hits Home. Im 65 years old. Diagnosed with Liver Cancer 1 year ago. But lm ok with it. Id Dad can take my sins to the Cross, l cant wait to meet Him. Cancer is just a Fast Track, to see and touch His Face. Im goin Home! See you there. Love You All.
I pray 🙏 you and yours have strength 💪 to get through this. It's not over yet. You still have work to do. Enjoy every PRECIOUS moment!! G-- Bless you and yours!! Peace to you!! Thank you for sharing your message of strength and COURAGE!! 💪🙏🙏🙏🙏🤗
I love this song and the cd. I don't understand why Skip's music isn't played on country radio. I would sure love to have seen him in concert. He is absolutely one of the best singer songwriters there is.
I come back time and again to bask in this great song, without having ever added to the conversation... Allow me to rectify that now. I discovered Skip Ewing's Greatest Hits in a stack of $1 CDs in the bargain bin of a Woodland Hills, California music store 31 years ago, in 1991. How great could a 1991 album of "greatest hits" be from an singer I'd never even heard of before??? I added the CD to my stack out of mere curiosity. I think I bought 20 or more CDs out of the bin that day and went home and played them all 1 after another. When Skip's music began, I sat up, set aside my guitar... As a singer/songwriter, I couldn't fail to hear this was something truly special!! When "I Don't Have Far To Fall" played, I had to catch my breath... When "It Wasn't His Child," I wondered under what bushel the light of this artist had been hidden... and before Skip was halfway thru "The Gospel According to Luke," I would be the mesmerized lifelong fan of this songwriting powerhouse. I played the album multiple times for weeks, maybe months!! And I would still, if I didn't have youtube. 😀 In my opinion, while Skip has received professional recognition, accolades and awards for his songwriting, he has never gotten the mainstream success he deserves as a performer of his own songs. I have shared his music, worldwide, with a great many friends over the decades and have emulated his songwriting along the way, as well. I thank God for a dusty old dollar CD bin and the gift of Skip Ewing. Thanks, friend; your music makes this world a sweeter place in which to live.
I Don't Have Far to Fall is one of the most beautifully written and performed songs about that stage of love! So gifted!! Always wondered why Skip has never been recognized as one of the greats of Country Music.
This takes me back to my younger days when I worked at night cleaning offices in downtown Pittsburgh, listening to country music as I went about my work.
A masterful song by an unusually gifted writer, and so well performed. This is an example of why I love TH-cam; I had forgotten all about this song/singer and now I can't put it down. Skip Ewing needs to be on radio today....then maybe I'D listen to it.
Skip does so much more than writing and singing his songs. I say he paints them. Another one of my favorites of his is "Love Me". In fact, "Love Me" touched one fan so deeply that some of his words were placed on there love ones tombstone. Communication with people that changes their lives. So powerful! Thank You Skip!
...Skip, Max & Band - One listen, and I knew this was what I used to call "an instant add" to my playlist at Country Radio. Thanks for the words - they still play true-as a song should.
Autumn’s not that cold is another great song from him. I think Skip is way under rated, however I think he is so good that bring him to the limelight would take away from his first love(songwriting) He not only writes and sings well but also puts his heart on his sleeve and presents it to you to interpret into your life! Masterful!
Skip Ewing is absolutely one of the best singer/songwriters of any genre. I’ve loved him since the first time I heard him on the radio and always wished to hear more from him. He has written songs for many well known artists. This song is still one of my favorites.
Heard this song for the first time this morning while driving through central Oklahoma and couldn't wait to get home and look it up. I had no idea it came out so long ago.
This song gave me an idea how to share the Christmas Message about the birth of Jesus and had it played by a great friend of mine. Then we read the Gospel according to Luke Chapter 2 verses 1-18 Skip thank you for this wonderful composition. It touches my heart each time I play it on TH-cam. Bless you in you singing ministry
I've enjoyed Skip's talent through many, many years and wish that what we hear on the radio these days could at least come close. There aren't many with his voice and writing ability :'( It's a dying art that needs resuscitation; where are you Skip!?
Beautiful song... Every word inspired by heaven! I've a young nephew named Luke and sing this song to him. His momma is a faithful person... And loves it! Skip Ewing is a Master!
People may not know that Luke didn't walk with Jesus to witness the miracle works of the Lord, that's why the gospel of Luke differs from Matthew, Mark and John. But Luke exemplifies the loving spirit of Christ. Love this song.
Thank you for this. When I need something to keep me from going over the edge, this is my go to. I love this song and am so grateful Skip, for you and your talent!😌
The lord judges all of us by the contents of the heart and not the contents of your bank account. In my life I have seen some do anything for a dollar-what a shame! Great story in a good song.
Shrapnel427, when he left his label in the 90's, he left MCA about the time Billy Ray Cyrus hit the scene. I worked with his promoters and he had an interest in taking his music to another place, maybe pop, rock. He managed all of that but his country roots have always been my place of solace!❤
He's kinda' like Keith Whitley in that their songs never seemed to find the fame at a level that they deserved. He sure does have a way with a song....Nice delivery..
That's bittersweet that you said that--and you're right--this was from an episode of AUSTIN CITY LIMITS on PBS. My husband and I watched it that night, this was somewhere in the 80s, and it was Skip, and Keith Whitley was the other artist. We had never heard either one until that night. But I have loved their music, every word, every line, ever since.
@@GALLEN-vf7uy I never do, either. His voice is so warm and so tender. That night when he sang "I Don't Have Far To Fall," my husband looked at me and said, 'that was us.' And it was, because he'd been so hesitant to let himself truly fall for me. (But boy, when he did ....❤️)
He wrote a song James Bonamy covered called All I Do Is Love her, I still for the last 7 years sing to my's Head Stone. She's never really gone that way.
This song tears me up every time what a beautiful performance and what a song :-)

Yes, he does that.

A wonderful story brought to life by one of the very best song writers/singers ever. Thanks for the post!
Skip's been one of my favorite singers since about the late 80's. A voice like warm honey...such talent!!!
When I was a kid and my dad took my sister's and I to see our grandparents in Minnesota, we would play this while we were driving from Michigan.
This takes me back to my younger days when I worked at night cleaning offices in downtown Pittsburgh, listening to country music as I went about my work.

Bingo you hit the nail on the head. I agree 100 %%%.
Hahahaa exactly
I totally agree! People are so money hungry they'll steal off their friends & family! So sad!
At least the old drunk guy shares with people he doesn't know, even though he is dirty, hungry & drinks! I love this song!!! 🙏🙏🙏💞
I totally agree!! Great singer/song writer. I remember him singing, at Dollywood.
Beautiful song and a Skip is a great singer. It's not that cold out but the song gave me a chill. Thank you Skip Ewing.
I'm always floored by people who can give this a thumbs down...what could possibly be wrong with this? Nothing,it's them.

This is my favorite of all his songs. I love it.
I've always been a fan! Love the voice, the God given talent/gift!
I saw him preform this in Augusta Ga in the late 80's. It has stuck with me ever since.
Always loved this one.
My favorite lyrics ...
Amazing. Powerful song.
I am so glad I got a chance to record Skip's song. I hope I did it justice. It is one of my favorites songs for sure!
My first introduction to this guy I don't know why I think he is amazing and is so under the radar that's a real shame

Brilliant track. Great lyrics. Creative work and style.
Why are his CD's so hard to find and expensive? This dude is awesome. Great songwriter and singer.

This is one of the songs I'm considering for the Christmas Show (of course I might not be quite this good😅😅).
