my name is Rene, from 1985 to 1999 I used to repair in and out of warranty cassette decks and walkmans for Kenwood, Yamaha , Pioneer, Sanyo and other brands and with the current increasing interest in analog audio, and cassette decks in particular, I started this channel to share tips and tricks that I have picked up over the years.
I will mostly do 'end-to-end' video's about repairing, servicing and adjusting the deck from beginning to end with a lot of talking , showing , tips etc and very little editing.
If you have any questions or particular video's you would like to see just reach out and maybe I can assist ?

good video. seems like a decent deck. Tascam/teac still operate, and are pretty much the only ones making cassette decks that arent just clones.
@@FunzieOne choices these days are really limited , and due to lack of good transport development and manufacturing quality is just no longer available new
@@cassettedeck-walkman-repair yeah, its sad
Nice deck! How desperately I needed something like this couple of decades ago =)
@@angel604cry the deck or the video ? 😁
Congratulations to whoever won this great cassette deck this is a really nice onem I have a Tascam 202 MKIII that needs to be repaired I'm in the New York City area everything is expensive lead times are nuts. I just want to get the cassette that working again I also need a working DAT machine for a project Im working on. It seems like a couple years ago you could buy one fairly cheap but prices have gone up. If there's anyone out there that has a working DAT machine that they don't need or I need some audio editing done or something I'm an engineer as well as a producer. I came here to see if I could possibly fix the machine myself i have a tight schedule. I think I got the Tascam 202 MKIII in the late 90a I think, can't remember exactly but I bought it new. I'm Watching this video to see if I could do it myself. Either way this is a great Channel & I look forward to watching this either way. I'm not the best at fixing things Creating Music, Making Beats, Producing, Engineering & working in a studio for days/weeks/months no problem but opening stuff up and fixing the things inside isn't something I've ever been good at. Great Video though thanks.
Take your time , video or photos while you work and i am sure you can do this
Whats the issue with your tascam ?
I made a video if there's somewhere I could send it to you maybe email or whatsapp. It covers the various issues with the deck. It seems like belts & dirty? No fast forward or rewind but powers on. Plays but various degrees of wobble etc.

Attractive looking deck, always good when a cassette deck is pressed back into service.🇭🇲👍
@@m.j.morshead thank you ! And I agree , it is a good looking machine
Best Tape Deck
Nice deck Love the pitch control will fit nice with my pitch controlled minidisc deck
That would be a good set
Beautiful deck, i thought about buying one of these some time ago, ended up getting a Denon DRM-700A
@@retro2409 I think you made the right choice going with the denon early 90s to mid 2000’s is not comparable in terms of quality , the denon is clearly a better machine
Love these videos, what a beautiful deck!
Yes they look great !
Interesting deck, sounded great once you'd worked your magic. I'm a new subscriber, and I'm looking forward to catching up on all your videos. Thanks for uploading.👍🏻🙂
Welcome aboard! And thank you for your support
Great video as always. I agree, it's an attractive deck. The explanation of what you're doing is helpful.
@@Marc-i6d thanks! Much appreciated, it seems to be the consensus that I need to keep talking 😎
@marc-i6d can you reach out to me ? E-mail is in the description
nice video, always helps to see how to DIY.
Thank you, I hope it’s informative and helps
Hi from France, I think you could have gone the whole distance and check the playback/Dolby level, the bias and record levels, as you already have the appropriate calibration cassette and you had the service manual. There were some level differences evident between deck 1 and 2. I like the Tascam/TEAC decks too!
@florianm3170 yes i normally do all that on camera, but as you know , with a 2 head deck it gets very boring to watch someone record a freq. sweep for 4 minutes , then rewind, plt it back , make minute adjustments and do its again for 10 times until you get the settings just right , so i skipped the levels on this 2 head deck and if you look at some of my other 3 head video's i can actually show what the adjustment does
@@cassettedeck-walkman-repair Cool, if you want to make it easier for calibrating 2-head decks you can always use the old method of recording white noise at -20dB and playing back while using a spectrum analyser like the one in the T-100 software. Does not take so much time.
@@florianm3170 i do , but I thought it wasn’t interesting to watch so i didnt film it , next time i will
Great video. Have you done maintenance or repairs on NAD cassette decks? I have a vintage NAD 6300. As far as I know, it still works. I have not used it in a while, but I'm curious about what should be done before putting it back in use after an extended lapse in usage. Thanks!
@@jeffnatzke2670 thank you 🙏 I haven’t done a 6300 (yet) but I can see if I can get my hands on a broken one ?
Nice video. I have a one question, where to buy testing cassette for speed and head alignment ? Any recomendation?
i would contact this seller and buy what you need , or if you are in the EU i can send you one for the cost of postage
Hello? Thank you for watching the video you uploaded. I have the same model. Recently, the right deck doesn't work. The head moves electrically, but the two devices that turn the tape don't turn. Is this a problem with the rubber belt? If you are available for the right deck or have a video you have taken, please upload it. I hope you are always healthy. Thank you
@@NEMONB most likely the belts need to be replaced , have you opened it up and see of they are still there ?
@@cassettedeck-walkman-repairHello? Thank you for your reply. At that time, I opened it once, but the wires and screws were connected in a complicated way, so I gave up and closed it again. But one of them will go back~ If you upload a guide video later, I‘m going to imitate it.
@@NEMONB this video is the only one i have for this model , replacing the belts is in there
322 nice deck
Thanks 👍
Nice deck. I wonder why it has a remote control serial port. 37:14 Gezondheid 🤧
you can stack multiple of these on top of each other and then use them all at once , ie start recording all at once, at the same time
dank je wel ;-)
i would love to win this deck
next video we'll let the random winner generator decide where the deck goes to ;-)
Those adjustments seem so scary to go into 😵💫😵💫
Take you time and don’t rush it , it may take a few tries but in the end it’ll work
That Red display...
Nice isn’t it?

Sir i want this one
Thank you! Can you tell us the maker and type of this transport?
from what i can see they are ALPS copies , the ALPS transports where widely used in the mid 90ies and these look like they were copied from that , or maybe simplified versions of those earlier transports
@@cassettedeck-walkman-repair I recognized them immediately as ALPS, but they usually had their name somewhere on the mechanism. I'm assuming these didn't? Never knew they got cloned.
@@musicnerd72 i could not find the typical ALPS stamp anywhere so I assume they’re not ‘real’ ALPS

but these all-in-one small systems are nt easy to repair if you have little experience
@@cassettedeck-walkman-repair hvala na odgovoru. Nemam neko iskustvo al moram pokušati.
