Hello ! Just wanna let you know, i started learning sketchup from your other channel since few months ago. I m really really want to say thank you very much to you, and now i found out you also teaching unity which is a very good new to me. You are amazing thanks for the tutorials and all the hard work!!
My problem is that SketchUp models have a ton of meshes and materials... This makes them have a ton of batches in unity and batches really slow down the fps. I can notice this drop after 4 models. I need a better solution. Somehow, the models need to be condensed into one model, and then hand painted. How to do this would be a great tutorial.
th-cam.com/video/hP4-FDoseq8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ChippWalters After each layer is voxelized in surface mode, Merge Subtree within 3d coat does the trick. It's some extra work, but I think it's worth it!
Thank you for the great video! Wish Unity would add the supported Sketchup version on their documentation. Also, to anyone is looking at this video later my time stamp, the supported Sketchup file version has been updated to 2020 on my trial~!
The image files I imported to SketchUp are not appearing when I import the .skp file to Unity, do you have any idea on how to solve that? Your video helped me a lot though, thank you!!
@@TheRealTimeEssentials They probably mean image files as in SketchUp "materials", like the roof tiles you have for the shed. I have the same issue, how do I make the textures appear?
Found the solution, you need to click on the little circle next to Albedo. Not the box , the box is to show the small icon of the texture. The circle looks so small you might actually think it isn't even a button.
What if you want the door to swing open? Separate model or just make a component? Should each wall, floor, etc. be a separate component so you make them a solid in unity?
they have removed the 2017 export, and locked the FBX exported behind a paywall... I don't use sketchup enough to warrant their subscription, and just want to import this 2022 sketchup model of a beanbag chair into my world in unity, isn't there any free ways to do such?
Thank you! It worked out! I think I'm going to download Sketchup 2017 anyway, now that I know that, lol. Wow, friend. Oh, and I did the same thing for the textures. Tks
What if we want to redo a slight modification on our Sketchup file after having imported it and worked in unity? A kind of "refresh" but without losing the texture work on the model...
If you import to Unity from SketchUp, I want to compress the file size as much as possible. Is there any way? If the original is not damaged, it doesn't matter if it's SKP or FBX!
Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below! :)
How could I import the model as a seperated objects instead of a single whole object into unity?

Welcome! :)
Youre amazing. Im creating a 3D environment of a wildfire sensitve area in Greece and plug it in to Unity for VR. Youre amazing
Thank you so much! Can't believe I missed this one!
Glad I could help! :)
this is great! however, can we extract textures as well as materials? thanks!
same question!
the material part is so confusing, i wanna export fbx project from sketchup to unity and then edit each wall separately, how can I do that?

No idea - when you say image files, are they just flat planes with images applied to them?

Thanks, man, helped me out. :)

what happens if we update the skp model and save it? will it auto update in unity?
Thank you!
Do you have a tutorial for augmented reality using SketchUp and Unity?

when i import a big model it imports its base and shows nothing else

Hi, anyone got an idea how I can change the "transform pivot" in sketchup so I have it the right position where I want it in Unity?
The light does'nt works
