Through negotiated learning or by enhancing their lexical knowledge. Getting students used to irregular verbs is an area that can help also. There is a pattern with some of these verbs and once students start noticing those patterns, the quicker they’ll be able to develop.

Absolutely. That’s a great idea. Students sometimes need time to provide the correct answer. Give them space to negotiate learning among themselves.
