You made it look and it would be easy if i didn't have tendonitis 8n hoth wrists and arthritus in both hands.
It worked then it stopped immediately after like if it was clogged check inside with flashlight and doesn't appear that anything is in there

I had the humming noise, so I tried the reset button, but that didn't help. Then it wouldn't even hum. So I used the dishwasher, er, um, I mean the garbage disposal tool, and the reset button again. It worked! You make me feel so smart and capable. Oh, and I LOVE your sense of humor. Thank you so much!!

Incredibly helpful!!! You review the options in a step by step manner. Thanks for reminding me what the disposal tool looked like! Found it in my tool box where I put over 9 years ago. Inserted it as directed, cranked to the left, felt and heard the grind of rust. We had been travelling for 6 weeks; it hadn't been used. Plugged it in, turned on the water, pressed the air switch--the sweet sound of success! The smell of rust came up, then the grinding noise smoothed out to a smoother rotation. I should have watched the part where you get smooth movement with the tool. Fortunately, the motor was able to handle it. I was going to spend time and money because someone said that if you press the air switch and you hear nothing, then your switch is bad. I'm sooo glad I spent the time to find this particular video and educate myself to a more informed decision process. Loved Deanin' it!!!

What happened if I haven't been using the disposal since I bought the house last year

My disposal was down for months because I dreaded the repair cost. I'm so glad that I found your video
So, I'm drunk in a hotel room. Garbage disposal doesn't work. Look under the sink. Garbage disposal tool aka allen wrench, was zip tied to the garbage disposal. Pulled it apart and found a whole entire dishrag in there and a tiny screw. Boom! Fixed! Now I don't have to change rooms! Thanks for the video. 1 and 3/4 thumbs up cus i forgot to unplug it! jk

Awesome! I used an Allen Wrench to free the blades. Knew about reset but the hole in the bottom... wow! You rock!
FYI, I tried everything you said here but my disposal was still just humming away even though I could freely turn the blades with the tool. I was almost ready to admit defeat when I decided to try a mixture of hot water, vinegar and baking soda. After I flushed it down the drain the blades spun up like it was brand new!
Cody, I had all the same initial issues and results as you. I have not tried the hot water, vinegar and baking soda solution yet because my sink is still half full with dirty water. Please let me know the formula for your concoction and how long you let it settle before trying to restart it. Thanks. Ned
@@ned5042 I wish I used a formula, but I just dumped some baking soda down there and poured enough vinegar to get a strong bubble reaction and let it set for maybe 10 minutes.

No lie! You just saved me so much money!!! Our garbage disposal quit working and we had figured we needed a new one so I looked up vids of replacing it but then let it go since we didn’t have the money. Then months later your vid is recommended to me and I was like why not, maybe we can fix it ourselves. No joke, we had no idea there was a reset button and that worked! I’m floored.

Thank you so much!!! Our garbage disposal made a humming sound a week ago, like it was trying its hardest, then stopped. Checked the breaker, wasn't it. Paused at 3:07 and it worked!!! My husband and I don't like calling the maintenance guys 😒 so we waited and was going to call tomorrow for repair. But I know #TH-cam has helped us both so many times before and saved $$$ as well! It's folks like you who deserves the best! We didn't even know there's a button underneath 😅 😁 Ours doesn't have a plug-in, maybe because we live in an apartment ?

Thank you for that knowledge. Done and done bro.. it's fixed. Didn't even need a special tool. Any person that's ever wrenched on anything can piece together something. I used a torx bit T40 which is probably equivalent to a 4 or 5mm socket . Love saving money and that's a hellova assist by you.

To everyone thats having a weird problem -as long as the switch is off you can gently reach in and feel around -you might just have some small hard objects that fell in the drain hole and are jamming the blades -in my case it was two small screws -your relaxed vibe gave me c0nfidence to stay at it and find the problem :)
I’m sad! I see the screw stuck in mine but it’s stuck between the blades. I’ve tried everything!!! It will not move

Thank you! I did not disconnect the disposal just attached the tool and tapped it with the hammer. Gradually it started to turn, and voila success!!!!!!

Great video! Just saved me a lot of money. My only critique/advice would be to mention in the video and/or notes that the “garbage disposal tool” is really just a 1/4 in hex wrench. No need to buy the special tool if you already have that. Thanks for the video!

Thanks to you, I was able to fix my garbage disposal!! The blades were stuck but they’re not now!! The only thing I forgot to do was shut off the power so I’m glad I didn’t electrocute myself 😂

Thank you... Turns out there was a screw stuck along side the circular drum inside... but this method allowed me to troubleshoot and now I know how to take apart a dish disposal

AWESOME video! I got to the step where you twist the middle hole with the garbage disposal wrench and mine wasn't stuck like in the video so I twisted it around a bit and tried it and it was fixed! But now if it doesn't twist next time I also know how to unclog it! Thank you!!!!!!! I am not a handy person at all and I found this video very easy to understand.

Fixed my humming garbage disposal! Definitely had to remove it to free the blades. The only annoying part was whoever installed it didn't leave the tool, so I had to find my Allen wrenches. Thank you!

Awesome, it worked on me. I didn't take the dishwasher off under the sink. I placed a wrench in the hole, held it and wacked the mofo two times, on the second wack it came loose. Thank you again. Don't be afraid to hit it with a hammer a couple of times. It works. Awesome, two thumbs up !!!
