I went from Blowmasters to the Ultra Flo on my blown LSC that used to prowl the streets of SI lookin' for trouble about 15 years ago. Best move ever. Car even made more power with them. Car sounds way better now. You can tell it's got a little somethin' somethin', but it's not all in your face about it. I dig it!
Awesome comparison! I’m so glad you take such great care for each video. I own an 85 Trans Am... so watching you do mods and dealing with situations is very helpful. I used magnaflow to solve my noise issue!
first.. I regret not revving it up during the decibel meter test! It didn’t even cross my mind… Also the start ups for the Dynomax and Loudmouth were done 24 hours apart, so the engine was completely cold before startup. Anyway, how loud do you like your car?
Maybe u can do another comparison with black widows I know they seem to be taking over. Plus their slogan is "all tone no drone" I'm in cali and went from loud to quiet but I'm getting ready to make it a bit louder.
Put on the Hawks 4" single. I put it on my Formula made more power, I used a Vibrant muffler sounds great and not obnoxiously loud. Surprisingly the system fits really well. My videos are not as good as your but you can hear a few different mufflers with the Hawks system. "Firefird 40 series Flowmaster 4" Hawks exhaust" on youtube.
I'm currently waiting on my Ultra Flo cat-back kit to show up, that's going on my 4.0L Grand Cherokee, and I was worried it might be too loud vs. the Super Turbo, but this video has me hopeful. I had an '87 IROC-Z in the same color, that I - unfortunately - wrapped around a utility pole on a county road, one foggy night.... *sigh*
Have you considered going with a true duals I did on my 91 ? 2 - 2-1/2" flows much better than 1-3" or a 3-1/2" it took a Long time to find somebody to do it ..A lot of shops with no Imagination said it can't be done. I live in the Seattle area And I was surprised with the Huge market we Have 99% of the shops thought I was crazy. I found a shop called Pro Exhaust In Auburn WA. The end results was big .And for the Nay Sayers your not pushing 350 or 400 cubic inches of exhaust through a single 3' pipe with any efficiency..
I had a 99 corvette that had long tube headers, high flow cats, and straight pipe from there and it was glorious but it would have been nice to have a quieter set up when I wanted to listen to music and have cutouts to make it loud and proud, that’s the set up I’m going with at some point on the 3rd gen I bought a few weeks ago
so since you had that new muffler put on has it gotten louder or stayed the sane? I want to run strait through mufflers on my mildly built 318 in my 82 short bed truck.
Lol yeah they are drone kings and are pretty bad, but can be remedied by changing up the RPMs a little and goes away. I've got them on my Challenger SRT8 and really is obnoxious, but at the same time sounds so good and will keep them
Hey Matt, are you running any cats? Not sure if I missed that part of the video but maybe it would be louder if you could run dual exhaust. I like the tone of the dynomax but it seems quiet to me too
Gotta admit though, sounded like music with no muffler. I’ve got a dynomax turbo muffler and my camaro and it’s the perfect amount of noise. Quiet enough to street it but perfect amount of noise when you punch it.
LsxMatt if you’re going to get an electric cutout go with DMH performance. Supposed to be the best around to avoid leaks. I bought one myself but never installed it yet. Heard a lot of good things about them.
You do know that there are big decibel difference when the cars is on the ground vs off the ground. You should test again when the car is in the ground. Mush more resonance. True Duals is the best way to go for your power gains.
I started out with the SLP 2 on the left 3" system. The packing blew out and i'm sure driving it everyday damaged my hearing. I couldn't bear the thought of getting rid of my 2 pipes on the driver side. I found a Dynomax with a 3" inlet double outlet and a flapper valve. Just like yours it had the "fake" 3" inlet - actually neck down closer to 2.5. So several hours of cutting, pipe expanding and TIG welding later i had a true 3" in double 2.5 out with the correct alignment for my old SLP tail pipes. I think you are leaving a lot on the table with that sort of 3" setup. I would go to a 4" and spend DAAAAYs cutting and welding mufflers :)
Did you have the ultra flow or super turbo? I know their dual outlet mufflers neck down to like a 2.5 or something like that. The ultra flow seems to maintain the 3 inch size pretty well. Also once the cut out is installed, the muffler size won’t really matter much.
@@lsxmatt this is what I started with www.amazon.com/Dynomax-17963-VT-Muffler/dp/B0057NS2LY/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 I shortened it and repositioned the outlets
This was the SLP system with the Amazing but deafening original muffler. I saved the muffler so I could repack it one day www.thirdgen.org/forums/attachments/exhaust/218976d1304910404-slp-2-out-left-035.jpg
This is basically the exhaust that I've had on my '83 TA, '87 Formula 350 and '87 TA (right down to the same model ultraflo, SLP intermediate pipe, and 3" turndown before the bumper). I've added a cutout to my '87 TA. Even with no interior panels installed in the back of the TA, with the cutout closed it's quiet enough to listen to music, talk, long drive... like in a normal car. Cutout open... full race car sounding: th-cam.com/video/9y4k7AIIdwU/w-d-xo.html
crazysvt03 man I know. I need to get to it. I just built an exhaust for it. If I had more time, I’d make videos like Matt. I do some pretty interesting shit. I just don’t like seeing myself and hearing myself on video. I need to get past that. But I will tell you, gto is RUNNING. I’m working on getting it ready for the drag strip. My goal is a 9.90 eventually. It’s probably around 10.50’s right now.
Wait did it really just from 50 something dbs to 60 something just by you saying "remember it was at" but try the 3 in hooker catback outside what others hear might be load but inside the cab is not hell I didn't even notice most of the noise when running open headers did feel it vibrating the crab out of me but not loud inside the cab try fixing the weather stripping allowing the car to "seal"
You build an american muscle car to sound like a regular car with no muscle sound man that creepy LOL I couldn't do it I like a car that roars like a lion in the jungle!!!
I went with a dynomax on my 1990 IROC years ago and never regretted it. Good choice.

I liked no muffler no cats better than the rest of the set ups the Slp was decent the new muffler not my taste
i love how the slp was basically doing nothing

LsxMatt my camaro is a cat delete with a pretty small muffler and it’s pretty loud but still daily driven lol

Without looking through my files I believe it was 900. to $1,000
That car is fucking sweet
Varex Mufflers. Fully adjustable. Wide open when you want it to be, but tame when you want it with a push of a button.
Very nice ride! sounds great with the Dynomax. Can you share your paint code, would love to paint my 88 like yours!

Borla 2 1/2 inlet-outlet
that thing sounds so damn good man my hell
Sounds freakin' amazing!
I knew you were gonna love it
When I put those things on my k5 blazer
I was in heaven
I had LM2’s on my Camaro for years it hardly droned at all.
I had lm2’s on my Camaro and over 3k it droned pretty bad and had a lot of resonance in the interior, was very annoying.

It gets slightly louder as the packing settles
I think thats the pecfect amount of loud right there.
Besides the muffler, what's the actual exhaust setup? (Headers (which ones)/manifolds, cats? Resonator? Midpipes?)
Would be great to know, thank you
I’m sure your neighbors are happy now!

This isn’t myth busters we don’t need to follow the scientific method we get the idea it’s louder straight piped.
where do you put your drink?

How many times are there sirens in the background when you’re filming? Are they following you?
It's the blower :D
What floor Jack's are those? I need um

Lmao your right about that😂
What kind of jacks are those?
Sounds nice.i hate exhaust drone.its annoying.
Where did u get that lift
Hopefully I’m the one who inspired you about the 4” pipe and cutout idea :)

nitrous07me it gets old if you actually drive the car (unless your a 15 year old kid). Which he does drive it. Droning sucks.

Off subject but what lift do u have
They’re quick jacks. I have the 7000lb version
