I have a similar John Deere to yours and it's about 22 years old. I bought it from a friend, it was his Dad's tractor and he took meticulous care of it. This is a great tractor and should serve you well for decades to come. Good luck with it.
All about keeping those blades sharp! But if the push mower just couldn't handle tall lush grass than sharp or not i understand. Good investment. Can be a nice little yard truck too many attachments! Edit: After watching further in your video, you obviously know everything i listed, your property is my dream property. I'm in NH as well. Gl enjoy that machine. Can't beat a john deere for a personal home mower they will last.
One reason spindles go bad is not knowing how to grease them, The bearing are sealed just giving 3 pumps of grease does nothing, it takes 70 to 80 pumps before the grease will come our of the top and bottom of the spindle that will force the grease into the berring. Good Luck I have the LA105 and love it.
Two tips..... Be careful mowing that hill and always wear hearing protection when mowing! Ok a couple more since tips are free. The life of your deck is limited by how much effort you put into keeping the underside free of built up grass. Never store it with wet grass - rust never sleeps. Eventually, you will get noisy spindle shaft bearings. Do not pay for complete new jackshafts. You can rebuild yours by taking the bearing to a supply shop and purchasing replacement bearings. I just had to replace my LA145 with a 48 inch deck because I got lazy about cleaning the deck. I upgraded to a zero turn because my lawn is flat. Wish I had listened to my own tip about hearing protection. A lifetime of not being careful has really left me with severe hearing loss.
congratulations on your new mower. It looks nice, one tip if you want to keep this in great shape, the one I have now is a la 135 if you keep this indoors so the night moisture does not get at it with a little regular care this will last you a long time. I have had this one for over 10 years no issues because I keep it inside. Anyway, just a little tip. another thing wax it, it makes you feel good. lol. have a great day.
Well I did my first mow on a rather deep slope (25-ish degrees). It reminded me of when I got my 30ft Monterey with twin Merc cruisers and had to back into a slip to the dock for the first time. The mow took me some 2 hours and by the end of it was like driving a jet ski...lol. Lawn looks great too! Thanks for watching and God Bless:)
Ok. First off, remove that mower deck. Wont be needing that. Next, get a small cooler and mount it on side of seat. Fill it with beer and some JB, and you are ready to go! (You'll wanna make a deal to keep you from falling outta the seat later)
Hope it works well on the slopes here. HD gave me the 42 inch mulch plug and not the 48 so I had to order it on line not in store. As you know this should serve several functions besides just mowing the lawn. Thanks for watching! God Bless:)
for a homeowner they will last for ever (if owned by a in the know person) , but yes stuff is designed to have a moderate life now a days, thats how they make their money unfortunately. Clowns will blow these up in the first year, never check oil never sharpen blades never grease, etc etc. This is a good machine

Thanks for the tip!
You made a good choice with a John Deere mower. It should last you a good while if you change oil and lube the required parts when called for!

they are cheap for sure.....not a real john deere
Not too cheap! Most new things these days are not as good as the old one's once were. Thanks for watching and God Bless:)
