Almost any ZX clone with 512Kb of RAM or more (tested on real ZXEvo and emulated ATM*/ZS/Profi/KAY).

The sound chips used here really produce a pleasing version of the song.
They really do. Something about the higher-pitched tones tugs at my heart-strings somehow. This version has actually brought a tear to my eye - and I mean that in a good way! :)

@@mariobros1594 Sure I can, on real instruments or programmed. But perhaps not on this IC. As I kind of hate the sound of it, or rather how it's most often used. SID sounded so much better. (And I'm not even a VIC-64 fan :)

it wasn't. you need a clone that can do 512k and dual AYs.

@@1337Shockwav3 no this is AY as in AY-3-8910, the three voice PSG which the Spectrum 128K had one of, not an FM chip.

If this was a ZX Spectrum 48K maybe. On a 512K clone with sound chips it isn't exactly a miracle.

Well, technically it was a 320x256 display but it had a big ol' fixed border all around the outside that you could change the colour of but not much else. Actual properly addressable pixels were 256x192 though, yes.
@@blatherskite3009 "320x256" ? Where did you get that? There is no hardware in the Spectrum that sets anything to 320 pixels or 256 lines afaik. The tv standard is 312 lines non interlaced of which 288 lines are visible, and the bandwith allows about 4/3 of that horisontally.
@@herrbonk3635 Maybe my maths was off? I was thinking of the overall size of the PAL image that's being output by the ZX Spectrum, including the border zone.
i wont lie i feel like 3:21-end is so much better than the original, it feels so much less underwhelming

Регулярно привожу в пример софт на ZX собеседникам, который на полсотни килобайт на "цифровом автомате" шедевр против гигабайтов безобразного мяса на мощнейшем железе, где только БИОС в сотню раз больше объемом.
@@user-xz2zl7cr1p Одна только игра "Elite" имела 8 галактик по 256 планет в каждой. А уж сколько в ней было игровых персонажей - не знает, наверное, никто.

I think a higher frame rate is probably preferable over the hi-res. Character square might have been a better choice (see atari 2600)
Something about the way this was arranged with the ZX Spectrum's sound chip and how the PV was ported perfectly with low framerate - it's just enough to put me in awe.

@@sweetmochi6707 Well, Pouet is a good website to get information on demoscene. I don't know much about the community itself, but they basically try to show up technical programming skills, sometimes for old hardware like the ZX Spectrum, Amiga, Commodore 64, IBM PC, etc.

Great job, dude! How did u do this? Video convertion to zx of a bad apple, or pure assembling?
The bass sounds really fat for the AY. How did they achieve this? The usual trick was to use two voices playing the same note only slightly tuned away from each other. Okay, so I guess the drum track alternates between drums and the second bass voice. Okay, never mind :) But it sounds really great!

Is there anything that bad apple won't be ported to?
Arcade Machine hardware (Take Pac Man, a 3MHz Z80 with a WSG for sound for example). I'd love to see anyone port B.A to _that_!
You're aware the spec only has a 3.5mhz z80 and a beeper, right?
If it works on this, you're a good chunk of the way towards a working implementation on pac hardware.
The spectrum also has a 3 channel AY-3-8912 sound chip which was later able to be utilized which this is most likely done on
Pac board has a Namco chip that offers broadly similar capabilities.

Любой вариант с ZX-Spectrum с ОЗУ минимум 512Кб (или выше) и звуковой картой, совместимой с Turbo-Sound (сдвоенные AY-чипы - 6 каналов музыки, против обычных 3-х) - а это как сам Turbo-Sound, так и Turbo-Sound FM (TSFM). Впрочем, без данной карточки программа тоже будет работать, но звучать будет некрасиво.
Мне более интересно как они запихали кадры. И что за алгоритм который это в видео память кидает. Частота кадров приличная. В демках было 1/50 секунды. Тут понятно не так. Но классно же. Или проц быстрее пентагона?

всё прекрасно, вот только расстроенные высокие никак не сочетаются с низкими, тональность куда то плавает как у жёваной ленты, вот если бы этот питч плавал не постоянно а в определённый момент скажем в конце ритма, а так чего то режет слух, мог быть звук красивей

звук на мой взгляд можно было лучше проработать, раз делали под турбосаунд, вроде под сегу был вариант бедэпла, который звучит прилично лучше чем тот что в видео, хотя там и там 6 каналов полифонии
This demo needs A 512K ZX SPECTRUM CLONE WITH DUAL AYs, AND RUNS ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER THEN A TIGER PORTABLE GAME?! This is some poor optimisation here. There even is a version on the VETREX that runs better, and with vocals!
Can you do better? Prove it or stop talking about something you don't know shit about.
I can't help but feel that a ZX Spectrum version should just be half an hour of hissing tape data loading noises then a couple of beeps and boops with no actual music.
Spectrum games really sucked at having any music to speak of.
