    If these birds where boxers they would be described as pound for pound the best fighters in the world. We have a resident wagtail in our yard. I've seen chase away crows dogs and cats, and have been swooped for 50 odd metres walking down the street. Love these little guys.

    I have many nesting in my trees and they truly are wonderful little guys. They also
    seem to have the patience of saints when teaching their young. I too, have seen
    them chasing the larger birds away. Also my cats run from them, incredible!

    They really are not afraid of humans at all... I was sitting in my backyard once and one landed on the arm rest of my garden chair. Scared the crap out of me =P

    I see three or four of them in my frontyard or backyard in Perth daily. They forage for insects or maybe worms? Their tails really do wag a lot. Love watching them.

    A wagtail squared up against my truck... I had to stop so I didn't run over the lil' guy. I ran back and forth peering up at me as I slowly began inching forward to see if it would fly away. It ran to the side eventually and watched the truck as I passed it by. I love the tiny fellas. They're so brave.

  • @rainbowbunny8876
    @rainbowbunny8876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Tip: don’t trick Willie wag tails and make it think there is food around it when your just throwing air or moving the grass. If you keep doing that, it won’t come to you house and find another owner

    WHAT A GREAT GREAT VIDEO! THANK YOU SO MUCH MATE!!! I HAVE ALWAYS LOVE THIS BIRD, HOW LUCKY FOR YOU TO HAVE SUCH A AMAZING BOND WITH THIS LITTLE BIRD. GOOD ON"Ya" MATE, I AM 60yrs OLD NOW AND WHEN I WAS 12yrs OLD, I SHOT ONE WITH MY SLUG GUN. I RUN UP AND PICKED UP THIS BEAUTIFUL BIRD, LAYING LIMP IN MY HAND. I DROPPED TO MY KNEES, AS TEARS RUN DOWN MY FACE, I HAD REALIZED WHAT I HAD JUST DONE. IT STILL HURTS ME" TO THIS DAY.BUT I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A PAIR THAT LIVE VERY CLOSE TO US. THEY CALL ME AT BLOODY 6am" TO 7am, FOR THEIR MEALWORM BREAKFAST. THEN JUST ON DARK THEY COME BACK FOR THEIR DINNER. What a character! I don't have them here in Oregon, are they all this sociable?

    • @bernardw4842
      @bernardw4842 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that's commonplace for them. When you rake leaves one will often hang out right next to you to dive on bugs. This guy seems impatient, he's going Come on, get digging! We're missing the best ones! I've had one right on my shoe while I rake up so he can catch his lunch. It was windy and raining so he kept sheltering behind my foot. They're known for fearlessness, I've never heard of them pecking but they will dive right at your face to scare you away from their patch. They have this angry chittering sound which means Get outta here! And there's also that sweeter song this guy sings, sounds like a mix of both - Thanks for the bugs, but can we hurry it up? kind of thing. They are sweet little guys and very smart for such a small bird.

    • @jafrost1328
      @jafrost1328 ปีที่แล้ว

      they're known for being brave and tenacious. they often harass anything they decide is a threat but are mostly bouncy, curious, impatient, easily distracted and relatively slow to scare. I've seen them harass a large goanna (monitor lizard) before. they genuinely dgaf lol they're like the terriers of birds
