My friendly Pied Wagtail

- This is the 3rd winter this Wagtail has returned to our garden. As you can see he is quite happy to feed from my hand. I just hope it avoids the local terror that is the Sparrow Hawk. The longest recorded lifespan for a Pied Wagtail that I have been advised of is just over 11 years which is well over the average 3 - 5 years.
He's really trusting and friendly most birds I feed in my garden always flying away the moment they see a human.
I keep trying not move so as not to scare the little bird, then I remember I'm watching it on a screen.. 😂😂😂😂😂😂🐦🐦🐦
Sadly my little friend hasn't returned this winter, so I guess it's departed this world. Doubt I'll meet another as bold.
Colin Brett i gone to versailles a week ago. there i met the boldest sparrows... one stole me a huge bread crumb i was holding between my fingers while airborne. sparrows in portugal are cowards. :( and i like the little critters a lot and my girlfriebd handfed a carrion crow too.
Colin Brett I have fed individuals and also a rare large flock in Glasgow, am sure that your little friend found a mate and went with them.
There are several hundred pairs on one hillside alone near me, in the coldest winters they sometimes head for cities and towns to get a warm place to roost
I'm sorry to hear that. i just got a pair in my garden down here in Devon, I want to feed them like this and make them as bold as yours.
😢😢😢😢
What about now?
“Do you want a cuppa tea?” You can’t get much more ‘UK’ than that 😂
You know the bird is Japanese
Yeah but this is set in the UK
Literally was just about to comment the same!
I searched for a dog wagging it's tail and this video came up
Logic at its finest 👌
:D
Wow! Cool to feed the bird like that! 👍👍🤗👏
Great video bud, you can call yourself the bird whisperer
Just seen pair of these in foxford mayo. Had to search but definitely a pied wagtail. The leg movement is comical 😂
Adorable arn't' they. Probably my favourite birds
The pied wagtail is My favourite little bird, the aerobatics are magnificent,I could watch them all day.that was a brave little fellow.nice to see.
wow so far all wagtails I've seen are timid and shy, Lucky you :)
They like them alive!
I never knew there were any wagtails other than Australia!!
Love how this one wags it's tail up and down instead of side to side 👍
Wagtails are known all across Eurasia, but they are an unrelated species to the Aussie ones. 😁
Boss that mate always see these around my favourite bird
Як же я люблю цю спритну пташечку.
Nice to see.I live next to the coast in County Cork Ireland.I have a family of Wagtails that come into my flat to get their snacks every day.I give them little pieces of cheese and tiny bits of bread. They prefer the cheese i have to say. Also feed Rooks and 3 of them are very tame. The one i have named Paul and he gently takes food from my fingers.
+glen smith Hi Glen, good to hear you have the magic touch with not just wagtails. The rooks and crows around here are far too timid.
I live in cork!
I'm Australian and we get willy wag tails (similar but all black except chest/ breast)... my family is from Cork a few generations ago and it's great to see other wagtail enthusiasts from my ancestral home 😊
Yes in the UK, Thanks for your comments.
This has happened to me too! But with a Willie Wagtail. Not a pied Wagtail. It also hadn’t returned this winter... I think they flew away to a warmer place so I think the Wagtails will come back when it’s spring/warmer 👍
just had a couple visit my garden for the first time this morning
I Swear This is MagicBird
What a great video mate, thanks for sharing! Is this in the UK?
This is MagicBird
Dog birds!
Wow! That’s so cute! We have two little wagtails (one male and or female) that keep popping into our garden, they’re quite shy and skittish though. If I’m not already outside when they come in I can’t go out or they’ll scraper. I’m hoping they’ll move into our bird house and start a nest there though
Reminds me of the magpie larks we get here in Australia. They're very friendly and always curious. A family of magpie larks at my office grew so accustomed to me and my friends feeding them over the years that the daughter started landing on my friend's arm :)
Sadly I've changed offices since then but am always on the lookout for a new family of magpie larks to befriend.
maybe it's your spirit animal trying to talk to you :0
I saw a male Pied Wagtail this morning.......first time ever.
Had to check in a book to be sure and it was a PW.
Gorgeous.
Feeding so many birds I suppose in this weather he was tempted, bless him.
Thank you for your video.
Happy New Year from the UK.
I have two in my garden, fishing mosquito larvae out of the swimming pool. They have been here 3 days now, really cleaning out the pool nicely
your usually guaranteed to see these birds hanging around shopping center malls, i think maybe they're either looking for food off people or trying to come in for some heat.
Jay Gordon its for the heat although they will eat different things.
There are some places where males will claim a small patch as their little territory and go back there every year
I see them now and again running around in the suburbs of Athens, GR, but didn't know their name until now. They are always afraid of humans!
And it's like....

We have willy wag tails here in Perth Au and they go nuts for mealworms!
They have a breeding ground near to where I work,it’s beside the river Tame in Stalybridge, they constantly dive and skim the water for flying insects they are so fast and agile. amazing creatures.
Thank you for this video , have seen these every now and then , but wasn't sure what they were until now.
Very beautiful...

Just found this when looking what my cat found a baby one don't think she caught it but can't put it past her she catches bat's etc so
But it just flew away seemingly happy chirping away
Fingers crossed
I have one of these cuties playing in and near the road by my house. He looks both ways and runs across the road. Cutest little things
Nice shot
I've been looking for the name of this bird as I've spotted one landing on our terrace this winter in East Sussex. Its a beautiful looking bird.
The little creature appears to get closer to my window with every visit , with the amount of herring gulls here I would be too afraid to encourage it to stop for too long as I've seen pictures of gulls eating other birds.
Please tell what are you feeding??☝️
Looks like dried meal worms...
I see theese all the time after school when everyone's left :) Amazing videos definetly getting my like!!!
Me gustó. Muy chulo, a por el cuarto invierno. Bye !
I saw one hover like hummingbirds
Nice video, I have never seen a Wag stay still for so long...... Our Wags only breed for 2 years then leave forever. Not dead, but never return from migrate... This has happened for four generations of ours. Normally Wags can outfly a Hawk and only get caught when old or babies. Looks like you have a male bird there without a mate.. Finally, if another Wag turns up, it may be the same one but with new feathers...
Interesting Thanks. Still to come across another so tame.
Indian monks use this bird to become invisible
Search more on it
Wow
Надо же! Трясогузка почти ручная :)))
Exceptionally brave Wagtail!
What a Doll...
