I was not expecting the monkey noises 😂Hunter's been my home mountain for years and this storm was the only time I was able to ski this run, it's always closed :( Sick video!
Thank God you guys made it out alive , Awesome run , This trail is extemely dangerous , On feb 4th 2021 , 3 days before you , i skied this wooded trail and crashed into a tree head first , gotta L1 vertabrae burst fracture as a souvenier
Good Ole Annapurna. I almost killed myself ( figure of speech) on that trail some 50 years ago because it was literally a total sheet of ice and should not have been open in the first place. I fell and could not stop sliding, I went off the right side of the slope into the woods on my ass. That was the last time I ever skied that pig unless it was soft snow in the spring. You guys are crazy but really good !
i think its been nearly a decade since annapurna has been blown on. it is now officially a natural snow trail, as current ownership will never blow on it again. you could probably make it down with a minimum of 12-15, but it would probably take 18-24 for them to actually drop the ropes.
@@cccEngineer Not sure if they groom it. But I poached it after the previous storm and it was a blast, minus traversing the river. Has that river always been there?
its definitely much different these days, ive been goin since about 2010 and theres only been a handful of seasons where it's been possible to rip the prune
so many memories around that y lift. i remember the safety bar was designed for a 9-year old. lapping westway and annapurna was the highlight of my childhood growing up in the catskills.
I skied there mainly in the 1980s as I lived less than two hours away. Weekends were really busy but I remember going there on Super Bowl Sunday in 1987 when the Giants beat the Broncos. There were no crowds, west side had plenty of snow, skied all over the mountain pumping out runs and still made it home during the first quarter of the game. A great day. Also, there wasn't all that brush stick up on the trails, including Westway.
@@greencuber8294 the trees/moguls are why I like westway better, also teh reson they dont do snowmaking on it is because the trail is too wide and the wind that usually comes from the west always blows the snow off before they can groom it so its only rideable with all natrual snow
THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. LET US NOT REMEMBER FOLKS THIS AREA IS NOT PATROL BY THE SKIE PATROL. SAVE YOU MONEY AND GO TO DAVOS SWITZERLAND FOR A MONTH OF FUN SKING. YOUR LIFE IS WORTH MORE THAN PUTTING IT AT RISK TO PROVE "WHAT"? HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A SPRIAL FRACTURE OF THE TIBULA? The pain level is like a 15
You're incorrect. I saw ski patrol on it. It was open today. Honestly that's the first time I was on a trail and saw that many ski patrol. I thought someone got hurt but they seemed to just be lapping it.

I wonder how much snow they need to open it, artificial or not.

It's been open the passed couple days. It was all moguls today and I'm hoping to catch it groomed tomorrow. It's really not that bad.

@@marcofrey2903 Doesn't seem like they groom it. I'm honestly not sure if that river has always been there lol. My first time was this past storm.
Sad to see it so overgrown. Lapping this on the old Y lift when I was a teenager is a highlight of my time spent at Hunter.

Yeah guys just save some money and go to Switzerland for a month!
You guys are sick!!!!!!
This trail hasn't been open since 2017??? dam thats crazy
I think this trail has claimed at least 3 lives within the last 3 or 4 years,do not go unless you’re an expert, lots of times is icy AF .
Big like this video, but why no Gloves, yikes, great camera
what's with not wearing gloves?
I feel like I was just here.
1:17 ty makes unexpected impact
honestly i like westway better but annapurna is still amazing
i never been on westway but if they just cared for it better it would probably be good bc of the trees and the moguls

my body is held together by pins and rods...better keep those tips up buddy
I heard this mountain was designed by the swiss settlers and they tried to mirror the intensity of their trails back home
