    I use the "float test" on eggs instead of worrying about the package date. If they sink, they are safe to use. If they float, throw them out.

      I guess I tend to use cool to room temp as that is what comes out of the tap.

    But I've been told that as soon as the clock passes midnight -- just one second! -- after the "best buy" date (or whatever the term used), the food becomes poisonous. You will be okay up to 11:59:59, but at 12:01:01 a.m. past the "expiration" date, you will crumple up in agony and die a horrible death. Great video! 😁

    You can usually incorporate things that you're not 100% certain about into hearty stews to get the food value back if those beans or say raisins are too dry to eat in typical ways.
    As long as no smell of decay or signs of mildew are present, the items are fine to cook. Everyone should rotate their pantry anyway.

    I have to start rotating my soup. I've got some that just expired three months ago. The cans look fine. I've been lazy and not rotating it.

    Some spoiled food items don't emit a bad smell and also, it's not a good idea to taste certain items to see if it's okay, for instance canned green beans or canned fruit. I have heard about a person who came down with botulism after just a finger taste of her green beans. If the can hisses or has bubbles forming on top of the liquid surrounding the beans or other food product, I've been told that is another indicator of a bad food.

    Some brands of bread get sort of hard and dried out when putting it in the freezer. This is personal experience.

    How about the discoloration of a canned condence milk after the date. it became brown is it good to eat?

    • @OklahomaGardening
      @OklahomaGardening  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not recommended to consume canned condensed milt that has turned brown or discolored. While canned condensed milk has a long shelf life it does eventually go bad.

    This is something nobody seems to realise as the can top needs to be sterilised as anything acquired on the top is transferred via the opening process into the foods
