Kristen’s jump may seem stupid, but her getting her spirit guardians to the first floor before Angwyn kinda single-handedly won them the fight by ending his concentration and letting Fig reroll her attack.
Only cause Brennen is really lenient with concentration 😂
@@slightlytsun4414 It's less it being lenient and more she had a magic item that makes it so she can have a concentration spell that will not drop unless she wants it to, it's why she can keep two concentration spells up at once.
@@nicholasholladay-elser7307 tbf though, that _is_ being lenient with concentration. Concentration is a major balancing act for magic in 5e, so having a magic item allowing to hold 2 at once is a major power boost.
@@wilhelmseleorningcniht9410 Perhaps but given how many times this group has made it only by the skin of their teeth, I'd say he still balances it in a way that that keeps it from being a problem. I mean the last battle in season 1 came down to a single off handed Nat 20 that there is no way that Brennen could have planned and had the integrity to honor for to be able to win the day.

Aguefort genuinely having no idea what he did as he dragged the sun across the sky, while simultaneously acknowledging that the very foundations of magic were attempting to stop him from doing it, is quite possibly my favorite thing in this entire episode.
This man is just the embodiment of chaotic energy and i’m here for every scene
His alignment is chaos. Not good, bad, even neutral. Just pure, unadulterated chaos.
Not just that, but the fact that he did this while managing to be of quite literally no help to the party is the most hilarious part. If Adaine’s party wasn’t already planning a prison-break and all she had to count on was Aguefort, she would’ve been completely shit out of luck.

The whole Jawbone interaction is so legit: Treat people like they have feelings vs a means to placate how you feel. Kristen wasn’t respecting how Trapper felt; she just wanted her to stop being mad at her. The conversation about the importance of truth was also enlightening. Jawbone didn’t say, “be 100% about everything always” but rather, “trust your gut… and know that hiding things doesn’t tend to work out well.”
@@Onebasilisk3770it's so sad that this is REALLY common in relationships, it's worse bcs you DO love them, they hurt you, but instead of caring about how hury yout feelings are they somehow make it all about them again.
And it is harddd to even be upset about it bcs at surface level they do act like they care, they probably do it unconciously too bcs it worked before. It's so easy to gaslight ourself into doubting that we had any right to keep being mad after their effort when in fact...they did nothing to mend the hurt
Haven't seen this episode but hearing that at the time of recording people had been laid off by college humor but now today those people are back and making their own shows on Dropout is really heartwarming to see they weren't just left out to dry. Gotta love this network

Ok, real talk- Fabian’s Grandad is spitting some real wisdom that everyone, including us as the audience, are ignoring because he sounds rediculous, and because his life is so very different than ours.

“It is a cruel world that would have such young people go… do stuff. You should be here, eating grapes and dancing.”
“Maybe I’ll come back.”
“PLEASE come back. My only wish for you is to dance a bit more.”
This man lives a life in which he reflects on all the small beauties of the world. Isn’t that what we all want?
He is rightfully upset that underage teens are being asked to go into peril, which, YEAH. He SHOULD be. How is the Nightmare King not a quest for full grown adults?!
Some of his perspective is off from being removed from the world for so long, but it also means he cuts right through some of the bullshit at the heart of it.
He’s a real one for asking his Grandson to be careful and come back.
His grandfather dancing with Fabian is so beautiful. “I danced with your mother through these glades for years… You belong here… It is a cruel world beyond these shores that would see such beautiful children… have to do stuff.” It reminds me of the LOTR quote between Gandalf and Frodo: “I wish it need not have happened in my time… and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
Take away the light racism and he’s pretty cool.

I think either a melee Warlock (to commune with his father) OR a College of Swords bard would both make a lot of sense. The latter would be super cool because he could use both the Seacaster and Elven Legendary sword in duel wielding, and the Bardic levels would complement his new dancing persona.

Brennan’s voice for Jawbone in this episode is so comforting and almost nostalgic
Some 100% real life wisdom. It seemed silly Kristen throwing large sums of fake gold away (I think Zach even tried to talk her out of it), but I’m so glad we got that scene, and it was honestly worth every penny. I feel like I learned something from that whole exchange.
The story with Adaine and Aelwyn always makes me cry man, hits a real soft spot

Brennan has such a way with saying heartbreaking things entirely off the cuff that when he pauses and says "I am about to describe something heartbreaking" my entire body clamped up in fear.

We've had a lot of chaotic moments this campaign, including Hilda Hilda and Fabian's terrible day, but I have never laughed harder at anything than I have at Kristen's attempt to fly using her ribbon dancer 😂😂
Also, it's got me wondering honestly who is more chaotic, Emily or Ally, bc Emily is constantly making insane choices to mess with the game, but Ally's occasional ones always have the worst and weirdest results lol

My thoughts exactly.
This might be my favorite episode for the simple fact that everyone gets a moment in the spotlight, and it’s a culmination of so many interpersonal relationships. Fabian finally comes into his own after his really bad (long-drawn out) day. Gorgug gets revenge on the elements. Riz plays an important role in their success (but also quietly lets the others claim the spotlight, as he often does). Ayda is so clutch in dispelling the orbs and counterspelling some of the more brutal Elven attacks. Fig, despite her poor battle rolls, connects majorly with Ayda. Siobhan recovers her spellbook & gear and really bonds with her sister for the first. Kristen’s goofy idea ends up saving the day by dispelling Angwuin’s invisibility and allowing Fig to clock him (her one good role). To top it all off, we can get awesome therapy session from Jawbone (and some wisdom from Fabian’s gpa) AND a little bit of well deserved hubris from Arthur Aguefort. It’s just a perfect episode.

The beginning of this episode with Aguefort is one of my favorite moments of this campaign. Esp when Ally mentions that Brennen had a fever over the break. Just, amazing story telling as per usual. Also- if anyone is considering getting dropout and just aren't sure- I'd def recommend it! There's tons of more absolutely top notch content and it's def worth the price IMO. These amazing creators deserve to be paid for their work!!!!!

Sometimes when the players emulate what their character is doing in real life, I can't help but imagine a cartoon where their character looks just as hilarious doing said action in a cartoon hahahahaha.
There's more than a few fan animations of the Bad Kids' shenanigans.

Brennan uses the same stealth/ suspense music all the time, but he especially uses it whenever there’s a nightmare king attack, and so when he plays it normally I just get flashbacks. Like… NO NOT BARON ARE THEY HERE???

Aguefort has to be one of my all time favorite characters. Probably partially due to how fun Brennan has playing him, but yeah, he's just great.
I don't know if anybody has said this yet but using the bass guitar to try and sus out gems. Was not a bad idea at all considering every kind of mineral has its own resonating frequency
First time seeing these, hope that Aelwyn will be fine. I loved her when she got to that party, kissed fabian and trapped a girl in a crystal, and I definitely love her now, I need her to be alright.
Edit: Got to the end... I mean I know I said I loved her when she was terrible but I didn't want her to get back to that! Better then ruined and scared tho... Can't wait for thursday
I have a feeling she will be less cruel just do to the fact that she was angry at herself for being callous and not sticking up for her sister. I think she will be witty like before but less so a evil dickhead.

As a recently diagnosed autistic adult the interaction between Ayda and Fig having a slumber party hit me so hard I burst into tears. I absolutely love her character and having an NPC I relate to so deeply is very special to me.
Brennan being a counselor is to perfect.

Considering he snuck into heaven and acted as a god for most of a year without anyone knowing I doubt the man gives the slightest semblance of a fuck.

@@OldWayArtisans oh I never questioned that, I feel that Brennan uses characters like these to not show how balls to the wall he can go, but as a warning.
@@darkvizardking69 A fair view. I personally felt he was just going ham on what that particular character would have wanted, whether it was convenient to the plot or party, or even to his own wishes. Playing the character as ONLY what they would and should be.
It's sometimes really tempting to tweak that a bit and bend the rules toward what you want for plot. I didn't see him do that deliberately. He still got there.
If he has any room in his next game, I want to be there.

Brennan's depiction of Aelwyn's deep, narcissistic wounds is profoundly insightful. Her desperation in the front of merciless selfobjects in the form of her parents is the real touch of a master

Ok, i was under the impression Fabian lost his subclass abilities because of his exhaustion/confidence shift, but I guess he's completely abandoning his previous persona...?
Yeah it was a moment where his sense of self was completely shattered. His previous subclass was Champion, and he felt nothing like an actual champion. That’s why he and Brennan decided to remove his subclass.
Correct, in the previous episode Brennan states that Lou elected to remove his subclass. It wasn't mechanically the result of anything, besides being a choice made by the player that Brennan allowed.
He had his ego completely destroyed by the event of whitclaw, so now he's working on figuring out who he is. Lord of the dance is that.
Fabian's whole persona was built around his adoration for Bill and his need for Bill's approval, so when he discovers that he is very much not a pirate captain in the crunch and sees what the pirate's life actually involves, it makes thematic sense for him to start from scratch.
It made the game much harder for everyone, but I absolutely respect Lou's conviction and integrity. This whole game is full of absolute masters.
