"He means what he says and says what he means." You couldn't have summarized it any better. He wasn't the kind of person who'd impose, but he definitely wouldn't sacrifice speaking the truth for the sake of flattering somebody.
Had the honor of meeting him while I was in the Army, I was his escort for a concert. One of the purest, nicest, Southern Gentlemen I have ever had the pleasure to know...I was deeply saddened by his passing.
Nice! He was a HUGE supporter of the military. Charlie was a great man, straight up. I was lucky enough to meet him about 25 years ago. He and the band stayed in the hotel I worked in, and I cooked him and the crew dinner after a concert. Later, as I was leaving, I saw him and several others sitting in folding chairs out by the tour bus, talking and playing some music. I screwed up my courage and stopped to ask for an autograph. They saw the chef coat and thanked me for staying late to feed them, invited me to sit and chat, and we shot the breeze literally til dawn. He was an amazing, humble, sincere giant of a man and everyone around him was of a similar mold. He was a legend in every sense of the word and we're all much poorer for having lost him.
Charlie always reminded me of that wise old grandpa that everybody needs in their life. He doesnt sugar coat anything and what you see is what you get, no apologies. RIP the legend!!
I really appreciate this. Im from his town. I grew up with Charlie Daniels in my life. I lived in his town, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and I met him many many times(like a grandad to me). By the standards of the American celebrity Charlie was as kind and down to earth as it gets. He didnt want to be associated with being famous and would argue with you if you called him "the best". This song really exemplifies that because Charlie really was a Simple Man. He spent most of his musical career dedicating his time to soldiers of all nationalities. He once traveled into a warzone in Iraq to play for 9 soldiers alone in their camp. He made a friend out of everyone he met and when he died the whole world stopped. A simple man simply laid to rest... Rest in peace, Charlie..
I'm from the swamps of Southern Virginia...very similar to Charlie's Wilmington, North Carolina upbringing. I have to say that we feel the same here. Charlie not only spoke the truth, he WAS the truth. He didn't care about what other people thought of him. He believed in God, responsible gun ownership, freedom, and legislation that was in line with solid biblical teaching. We need more of all of that here in America. You did a great reaction video to this. You got the message, and much love to my friends across the pond.
@@Assdafflabaff As I said he was exactly as you see him. A God fearing christian. As far as race is concerned he didn't see color. He respected all men till they didn't deserve respect.l
Yeah, this song always kinda reminded me of that one.. Same goes for "Country Boy" by Aaron Lewis, which he was featured on. Would be cool to see her react to that one day.
I'm so glad you discovered Charlie Daniels! Hank Williams Jr. is a similar artist to Charlie Daniels and Johnny Cash. I hope you discover more classic country artists. Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn there's a bunch, Charlie Pride...
Hank Jr. often tells the story where after his couple of hundred foot fall from a mountainside in Montana that the first people to see him in the hospital were Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Of course, Hank Jr. is about as close to country music royalty as you can get, being the son of a legend and all.
He was a great man of conviction and faith and was tired of seeing what was happening in the world today, and my friend it doesn't matter when you show up just that you do welcome.
Charlie was Southern Rock but was accepted by the country music industry with open arms. He was a American patriot and a God fearing man. He is missed very much.
You can see how much you truly enjoyed this song, not that you don't all the others, but there was a particular look on your face that said enjoyment, sorry, and pleasure all at the same time. Love your reaction videos, keep them coming.
Yes Charlie Daniels was the real deal. He meant what he said and he lived by what he said. He is what I call a real American Patriot. He was a charitable man as well. He not only entertained us he helped those less fortunate than him.
I love Charlie Daniels! It broke my heart 💔 when he passed away. I actually got to meet him at his house in Nashville, TN. I was selling magazines door to door and he invited me in and reminded me of a grandfather figure. It was awesome!
John Denver .... Rocky Mountain High... You will be transformed to another world. Charlie Daniels spoke at my Brothers graduation. He was unforgettable. From nothing to an icon... He Won... We listen...
I had the opportunity to work a security detail for an outdoor concert he did. After the concert he came back out and hung out with me and the other officers. Down to earth fellow. He will be missed.
His legacy was that he was good man, cared deeply for those around him. He was just as kind to a stranger on the street as he was to his fellow neighbors.
Charlie Daniels is what he grew up in. He grew and went to school with my father in law in Gulf NC. It’s a small town that has a general store and the post office r still the only thing there. No stop lights or street lights. They used to fish off a bridge over Deep River. Hey used to come home every year and put on a concert at our small town fair grounds.
My all time favorite Charlie Daniels song. He was so truthful when he said "what's wrong with the world today, is people done gone a put their bibles away".
Johnny Cash and Charlie Daniels are 2 of the greatest!! It doesn't matter that your late to the party as long as you finally showed up. Country boys are gentle giants. As long as you dont cross them or their family and friends.
Charlie loved our country and had a very straight belief in right and wrong! He was a huge supporter of America, our military, law enforcement and the heroes of the common man! He will be sorely missed!
Charlie Daniels was born & raised about an hour and a half from where I stay here in North Carolina. Trust & believe, he wrote what he believed & the way he was raised. A lot of Southern gentlemen around here that I can say I am reminded of when I hear this song. One being my daddy, God rest his soul. And some many more of the men & women in my family. Lovable but don’t mess with them.
The depth of his patriotism is apparent in "My Beautiful America" is followed immediately with "In America" , which need to be played together, from the album "Freedom & Justice For All" (cuts 1 &2) which came out in 2003 as a call to americans after 9-11-2001 World Trade Center collapse, to remember our land & brotherhood.
I watched his memorial service that was streamed live on his TH-cam channel yesterday. Vince Gill was one of the people there, and obviously sang "Go Rest High On That Mountain." Which was a song Vince wrote for his brother who passed. Many people play that at their loved one's funerals. Edit: 4:28 That scene of Charlie just reminded me of the eulogy that the pastor gave at his memorial service yesterday. I vaguely remember it so it might be off, but I think he basically made a joke about you could tell how intense a song would be by the leg stance of Charlie. The more intense the song, the wider he'd set his legs. Lol
I feel like Charlie, Cash and lots more of the Old School country singers sang songs with lots of meat on the bone; they sang to pay the bills, but they had HEART and SOUL in their music material!!!
I love Charlie's music, his messages, his voice! Charlie was true to God, his country, and his family. Country music and Charlie's "twist" of it (with a Southern Rock sound) show's that dealing with "Life" head on -- as in "real world" is the only way to be! That, THAT is so appreciated!!! RIP Charlie!
@Gitana, I would love to see you do a react to Chris LeDoux’s song “This Cowboy’s Hat”. The song is about me. I got to meet him back in 1994, and we actually got to talk for a long while. Later that night at the concert, he mentioned me by name and dedicated the song to me! I still have my hat to this day.
I was 8 years old in 1979 when my parents took us to see Charlie Daniels- still remember his fiddle playing and he went through 30 bows- they would break and someone offstage would throw him another one and he kept playing. Good times.
Southern way of life is always easy as long as your honest to yourself , and true too your family !! Must love from Texas young lady !! Try " Long haired Country Boy or In America "
Charlie truly was a simple man he believed in God, family and country and fiercely loyal all as well as his fans. I first heard him in the early 1970s and other than becoming a Christian he never changed who he was! He believed in doing things himself rather than let others do it for him. He couldn’t read music, he was self taught and played his fiddle and guitar by ear. Some years ago he got his hand caught in a pice of farm equipment that nearly destroyed his hand. His doctors said he wouldn’t be able to play the same way again if at all. Charlie proved his doctors wrong and regained full use of his hand. You keep saying you came late to the party, Charlie’s live party started in the late 1960s and ended with his last breath. But the party goes on!! Party on, little lady!!🎻🎸✌️
Upchurch did a cover to this and it's great. Charlie Daniels used to play at our County Fair every year. I never got a chance to go see him. I wish I did. He passed last year on my Birthday. RIP Charlie Daniels
He did work some with Johnny Cash. They co wrote a song together called The Folk Singer when Daniels was a session player. And there was a sequel called The Devil Comes Back to Georgia, cash narrated on that song
You got it straight hun. I’m from Tennessee just like him and lived in the same place he did. My kids grew up playing in Charlie Daniels park. He was very much a family man a good man that would help anybody. I’m so glad to see you are listening to his music. Late or early you get who he is and that’s all he wanted and to make people think. He just wanted everybody to come back to morals and not all this crap that’s in the world now. Welcome to the south lol
Charlie Daniels was a good old southern Country boy, with solid Christian values.I've had many of my friends that met him in real life said that he was the most honest pure person you'll ever meet what you see is definitely what you get . He was raised in the south in the USA, to respect his elders and to kneel and pray. Now he's in heaven at God's right hand, He's Charlie Daniels he's a simple man!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
You've quickly become my favorite country girl! Charlie's music always lived by the "three cords and the truth" method. He WAS what he sang... Much love and respect my friend!
I remember having this cassette... and literally wearing out the tape listening to this song in my car. Way back then I'd jump in the car on the weekends and just pick a road and drive.... back when you could roll pennies to put plenty of gas in the car. I swear, I hit every road in the county, windows down, flying around dirt road curves, radio cranked as high as it'd go, just me and my little '75 Pinto... man that thing would fly! I miss 1989!
He absolutely meant what he said. He always did, he didn’t pull any punches either. If he felt it needed to be said he said it. And didn’t care who’s feeling he hurt. And if you disagreed he would talk to you about it and get you to see things like he did. I hate to say it but we need more men and women like him these days. Not just people who scream and call names till everyone is scared to say what they think.
Hi Gitana. I just found your Channel a few days ago. I love the Video reactions you are doing. You are never to young to join Country Music fans. I am 55 years old and I was blessed with the songs from the 70's and 80's and 90's. I love the music from the 500s and 60's as well. I still enjoy some of to days music but it seems to be harder to find. Thank You for the tribute to Charlie Daniels. He was born in my Hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina. I know several of his relatives. I would like to suggest as others said Hank Williams Junior. His Dad Hank Williams was also a Country Singer. Hank Williams Jr .song Family Tradition explains that a little bit. The best concert I ever went to was in 1983 in Wilmington, NC at the Azalea Festival. I was in college then and was In the Army National Guard and ROTC. I was a volunteer at the concert. The group Alabama was the opening Act for Hank Williams Jr. Alabama was still just starting out. Hank Williams JR was gracious and let Alabama come on the stage with him to sing part of a song. Everyone was saying the Warm up act of Alabama would be big stars. Some other reactions I would love to see are from the Bee Gees. They had so many songs from lots of genres and wrote Islands in the Streams for Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton to use. The Bee Gees were known for their Harmony and Barry Gibbs with one of the greatest voices. He was the Oldest of Four Brothers. Barry was Three years older than fraternal twins Robin and Maurice. They had a Younger Brother Andy Gibb who did a Solo career. Too Much Heaven is an incredible Hit as well as How Deep is your Love. Staying Alive and Tragedy are among the Hits as well. Not many people have done reactions to Tragedy. Thank You again.
Saying y’all is ok, they don’t call it southern hospitality for anything, we accept anyone that wants to be apart of us. No matter where you are from. Y’all have a good one!
He is a true legend! You need to react to Hank Williams Jr. A country boy will survive. Love your channel! Just subscribed because of your Home Free reactions!
I just discovered y'all, haven't heard that song in a few years, you will do yourself good if you stick with what we call(Classic Country). Years ago used to be called (Country & Western), Give a listen to Waylon Jennings & Hank Williams jr., the list goes on and on. What they call Country today is nothing more than pop music, keep up your fantastic journey ♡
I am very happy I got to go see him in concert last year with Travis Tritt. Awesome concert and an amazing man. Never missed him when he was in town seen him 6 times. Even sat at the bar with him after a show and had a few beers. Great down to earth man!
He was a straight-shooting, honest, patriotic man. He didn't care what men said about him, he cared what God would say about him.
Amen sir 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I agree but I would like to add that he could be that way and have no empty seats at his concerts.
Yes
That's the way things should be brother! And I hate to see all these people nowadays pandering to other people and to the government it's sad!
Amen, that should be all of our attitudes!
He loved his family, loved his country, friends, music. He was a simple man who had a huge heart. Legend! Thank You Charlie. 🇺🇸🎸🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
"He means what he says and says what he means."

He was wonderfully supportive of service members.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service much appreciated🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice! He was a HUGE supporter of the military. Charlie was a great man, straight up.

Appreciate your service!
Charlie always reminded me of that wise old grandpa that everybody needs in their life. He doesnt sugar coat anything and what you see is what you get, no apologies. RIP the legend!!
This song has the same vibe as Hank Williams Jr country boy can survive, must listen
I can’t agree enough
Indeed, I thought the exact thing. Though Johnny wrote songs that could also be compared.
Glad someone else thought the same thing as me!!!
absolutely.
Wrong country boy can survive is 10 times better.
This song is just as apt today as it was the day he recorded.RIP Charlie
maybe even more so
More apt today.
Definitely moreso.

I live just outside of wilmington nc
Charlie was exactly what you see. I was blessed with being able to talk to him a few times and he was pure gold. God fearing and a true patriot. RIP
I wish I had a chance to talk to this man. I wonder what his opinions on race and religion would be after a few beers.
@@Assdafflabaff As I said he was exactly as you see him. A God fearing christian. As far as race is concerned he didn't see color. He respected all men till they didn't deserve respect.l
Country Music has tons of legends
Charlie Daniels was a true southern gentleman. He supported the veterans and did a lot for us. Rest in Peace charlie.
He reminds me of Hank Williams Jr. A country boy can Survive. Almost the same tune as well.
He's the one that put out Long Haired Country Boy a very similar song
Yeah, this song always kinda reminded me of that one.. Same goes for "Country Boy" by Aaron Lewis, which he was featured on. Would be cool to see her react to that one day.
Uneasy Rider by Charlie Daniels. Very entertaining in an early 70's time frame.

I’m writing these down my friends ! Just give me a little time and I will put them in the mix . Thanks you everyone 💓💓
Good job Gitana. Old (63) year old Vet here. Sw Florida. Ty for the music I grew up with. I spent '76 thru '79 in Germany on a tank.
When that song was released in 1989 I was in 11th grade in school. Another awesome reaction, you get the song. Thank you

The Charlie Daniels band “The Legend of the Woolie Swamp”!!!!!! “Stroker ace” check them out.
I second The Legend of Wooly Swamp, my favorite CDB song
Charlie was Southern Rock but was accepted by the country music industry with open arms. He was a American patriot and a God fearing man. He is missed very much.
100% agree 👍

Never too late to appreciate the talent of an amazing singer. Glad you are enjoying his genius.
Yes Charlie Daniels was the real deal. He meant what he said and he lived by what he said. He is what I call a real American Patriot. He was a charitable man as well. He not only entertained us he helped those less fortunate than him.
NEVER TO LATE FOR COUNTRY SONGS, THEY TELL STORIES THAT ARE TIMELESS! I CAN TELL THAT YOUR A COUNTRY GIRL AT HEART!!!!
Charlie Daniels a one of a kind that can never be replaced
I love Charlie Daniels! It broke my heart 💔 when he passed away. I actually got to meet him at his house in Nashville, TN. I was selling magazines door to door and he invited me in and reminded me of a grandfather figure. It was awesome!
Charlie Daniels is a very down to earth honest man! He stands for all thats good and isn't afraid to put it to verse.
Charlie was a great man, a true patriot, and a man I would be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with!
His values and actions were in synch. A man of integrity and incredible talent. Rest easy Charlie...
A true American Patriot, Loved he was so outspoken and didnt care how it affected his music career, In america is another great song
Late to the party? Never, dear lady. As long as people discover and listen to the music and artistry of Charlie Daniels, he'll always be alive.
Charlie Daniels Band was the first concert I ever attended. Put on a great show.
Charlie Daniels was a Godly man
also when I lived in Nashville Tn
one of the bus drivers for CDB lived in the complex where I lived. that was in 1980
Not a single song where he didn’t speak his mind! One of the best artists ever!
He was a gentle giant. Helped people all over the place. Long Haired Country Boy good song
Thank you. He has been laid to rest (07/10/20). RIP Gentle Man. Looking forward to reactions.
His music MUST be heard Today!
I was fortunate enough to meet Charlie Daniels. Amazing man.
Exactly how I was raised. So looking around today. I’m shaking my head …
His legacy was that he was good man, cared deeply for those around him. He was just as kind to a stranger on the street as he was to his fellow neighbors.
Yes Johnny and Charlie had different styles but both men were straight forward in their beliefs. Strong Christian men.
Thank you for that comment. This man was an amazing American patriot. He will be sorely missed.
Had the pleasure of Meeting Charlie over the years even worked security for him when he was it town. He was a great man and friend.

Merle, Conway, Waylon, George Jones, Charlie Daniels and Don Williams and Jonny Cash are all legends 👏!!@
Charlie Daniels may be gone but his music will last forever in our hearts..,🇺🇸
Great reaction. Never to late for Charlie Daniels. ❤️
Never to late to the dance. Music like this speaks so much nowadays with the way everything is going.
He took a lot of heat for this song. But he didn't care and said he always speaks the truth and always will 💯

He was a great man and a heart of gold. Would give the shirt off his to anybody in need.
I see no problem with the comparison, the simple straight forward and honest approach to the world is something that is sorely missing today.
Beautiful reaction to a legend of country music . Thank you xx
He was a man of faith and loved God. He was also a multi instrumentalists and play anything with strings on it RIP Charlie
Great job with your reaction to Simple Man from the legon RIP Charlie Daniels .

I'm a bit older than you darlin' but you're never too late! Love seeing a new comer to the Country party and you're more than welcome.
One of my favorite songs I bet evenone around me where I live can hear it for miles when I play this song
Yep. Charlie meant every word he put into his songs.
Charlie was true American Patriot! Simple.
Mr Daniels may have left this earth but he is in our hearts and thank God we have his music.
I am very happy I got to go see him in concert last year with Travis Tritt. Awesome concert and an amazing man. Never missed him when he was in town seen him 6 times. Even sat at the bar with him after a show and had a few beers. Great down to earth man!
He expressed the sentiment of many real men.
