1988 Isuzu Trooper - Episode 7: Project Recap

We started off with a faded paint, trashed interior, and oil leaking $2,000 Truck...and ended up with a shiny truck worth at least $2,500. Truthfully though, the Isuzu Trooper runs great, has fresh tires, shiny paint, a full and clean interior, and has become one of my favorite vehicles of all time. I tested drive quite a few of trooper always want one but couldn't afford back in the day now I can't find any left in Minnesota they are all rusted away

The hardest part is finding one in decent shape.
Growing up in Maine, these things were all rusted out 5 years after they were new.

What about the wind noise you mentioned coming from the vent windows weatherstripping? Were you going to replace those gaskets?

Further down the road I plan to…for now I just crack em a bit and the noise is gone.

Nice one! Did you set the valve lash? Meant to be done every 15K miles eh. That sure would be a nice rig to drive up to Vancouver :)

Check that every time I pull a valve cover. Didn’t even include the film since everything was right on spec with most being exactly 0.20 mm (range is 0.15-0.25 mm). Appears lash was adjusted very recently.
She’s not the swiftest rig up hills, but she motors down the road quite well.
