The acting in this show is next level. Jacob Anderson and Bailey Bass are able to really pull off these older versions of Louis and Claudia in a way that feels like a natural extension of how they were introduced. And Sam Reid as Lestat is amazing. I doubt Jacob or Sam will be nominated for anything since this is a “genre show” but their performances this season are on that caliber.

I totally agree about loving Claudia - far more than I expected to. They've given Bailey so much to work with and she *ran* with it. She's been a tween, a college student, and now she's a 33yo grown-ass woman. She really felt like Louis's baby sister looking out for him.
In terms of Lestat's violence, I think Lestat always had exceptional control over his powers, even when enraged. He could've killed Louis easily. Instead, he broke his body just enough to ensure that Louis *physically* could not leave, that it would take time for him to heal. And time is Lestat's friend, because, for all his flaws, Lestat is not impatient. He's actually exceptionally patient, far more so than Claudia. When you think in decades, what's a little domestic battery if it keeps your man? You'll have years and decades to make it right again.

That is so fucked but so true at the same time.

First, let me say thank you for exploring these relationships on a deeper level. I’m just in love with Lestat as Louis. Yet, I really struggled with the fight at the end of Episode 5. Is this Love? Your perspective on, possibly, Lestat knowing Claudia will restore Louis back to health is very interesting. Yet, I have another thought, is Lestat’s desperate attempts to keep Louis only driving Louis away. Lestat’s biggest fear. Is being alone. Once again, thank you for your thoughts.

This episode was good. It was hard to watch Louis heal from his wounds, suffer from ptsd then depression. Do you think Louis really wants to kill Lestat or manipulated to want to by Claudia ? especially since he's more emotionally vulnerable right now.

I think he wants to escape more than anything and killing Lestat seems to be the only way to be really free. Lestat forced Claudia to come back. Ironically he instinctively knew Louis would be in a worse depression when she left again even when Louis put up a front that he was okay with it. Like Lestat says, he's got time but at the same time forcing the connection for fear of them permanently leaving and not coming back. - Nat

Also to add to that what happened to Nicholas he doesn't want to happen to Louis but Lestat went about it the wrong way and put a heavier more abusive strain on his and Louis's relationship. Considering how his Dad treated him, Lestat is exhibiting the same controlling behavior as his Dad. He was vague but telling the truth about that and how he was made. - Nat

If you read the books Louis is not a good narrator. He only tells the story from his viewpoint. Lestat has another storyline. Lestat doesn’t know how to make Louis happy so he is jealous that Claudia can make him happy.

In the book ,Claudia didn't have the same amount of private time .....they kept her much closer because of her younger age/and it was earlier in history so she had to stay around that one city /with her coffin so to speak ....years are going by in this show and Claudia gets more remote experiences ........Sam is the best Lestat ever in film/books/TV ....I'm dying to hear what happened to Killer and Claudia .....I don't remember what happened in the later books about Killer where it might have been revealed ......I think its interesting that they are showing witchcraft being involved with people leaving things at their door because we know that The Mayfair witches /Talamasca books will intersect at some time period in the longer series .......I still miss Brad Pitt from the movie version ,but this Lestat makes up for it ....he is insane .....................someone on another comment page compared Lestat and Louis to Amber Heard and Johnny Depp .....hahahahaha.....you did a good review here
