The lead singer of MegaDeth Dave Mustaine was the original Lead Guitarist for Metallica in their early days but he got kicked out of the band. Then they replaced him with Kirk Hammett. Back in the day none of these songs were played on the radio, it was pretty much underground, cassette tapes mailed around the country. They still only play a select few on the radio to this day, you have to listen to the whole albums to hear the rest of the great songs they made. 🤘🏻

This is the unfortunate truth. For so long, Radio, and later channels like MTV dictated what people were exposed to, and what those stations play largely depended on advertisement, sponsorship, and money flowing from larger record labels. That's why genres like pop, which are actually fairly terrible, is so much more common.

They were around 19 when they made this album,
    James Hetfield - vocals/rythm guitar
    Lars Ulrich - drums
    Kirk Hammet - Lead guitar
Cliff Burton - Bass (he died in 86 while on tour in Europe) was replaced by Jason Newstead/ 20 yrs later Robert Trujillo replaced Newstead
(Robert T played bass for Ozzy previously, and before that was in a punk band named Suicidal Tendencies) If you watch ST's You Can't Bring Me Down(official video) you will see Trujillo when he's about 19, playing bass, and Rocky George a kick-ass guitar player

Also, a GREAT example for this is the iconic The Four Horsemen from Metallica. Before Mustaine was kicked out, the song was The Mechanix. On the first Megadeth record, they play the original song, but a lot faster.

The Seek and destroy riff was written by Dave Mustaine. Kirk Hammet is the lead guitarist. James Hetfield is the rhythm guitarist. The original bassist, the one on the first 3 albums through Master of Puppets, was Cliff Burton. He died on tour in Sweden when their bus flipped over on black ice in 1986. As a kid who grew up with Metallica in the 80s i never saw the legend status everyone gives them. Im a Motorhead/Suicidal Tendencies type guy. I saw Pantera in like 1992 and it was epic. The intensity level was stratospheric! About 20 seconds of 'Respect, Walk' would change your top 3 right quick. 'Primal Concrete Sledge' will intensify any workout program. After that you will be ready for the next level.

Hey. New subscriber. I love seeing you guys in college and experiencing this stuff for the first time. I was dying when one of you said we had to reply in MLA format. I use APA though. 😂 Been a fan of rock and metal for almost 40 years.
Dave Mustaine from Megadeth was originally in Metallica and shares songwriting credits for several songs on Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning. He was kicked out for being a jerk alcoholic. The silver lining is that he went and created Megadeth.
Lars and James then went and recruited lead guitarist Kirk Hammett from the Band, Exodus, which you should totally check out. Old school thrash metal at its finest. They (and this is critical) also recruited bassist Cliff Burton. That is the the core, classic lineup. This lasted through the album, Master of Puppets. Sadly, Cliff was killed in a bus accident on the tour. The band then got Jason Newsted from the band Flotsam and Jetsam to play bass for many years. He eventually left and was replaced by Rob Trujillo, the current bass player.
Metallica are unquestionably masters of their art, but they’re not flawless. After the …And Justice for All album, they released the “Black” album. It was their most commercially successful album, but there is still division among fans regarding whether or not the band sold out.
After that, they got weird and released some albums that are generally considered to be inferior: Load, Reload and St. Anger. Those are, at the very least, disappointing after hearing the good stuff. James went and took singing lessons and changed his vocal style after the Black Album. Eventually, they found their footing again with the album Death Magnetic. The newest album, Hardwired to Self Destruct is also pretty good and shows influences from throughout their career.
You can’t go wrong listening to these earlier albums. Just be wary of the newer ones. Try the songs Fuel, My Apocalypse, Atlas Rise and Spit Out the Bone for some of the decent newer songs.
    Hope this helps. Rock on!

Kirk Hammet is the lead guitarist, he plays the solo’s (almost every single one besides the middle short solo of Master of Puppets and the solo in Nothing Else Matters which James plays), and he plays the higher notes when you hear harmonizing done. James Hetfield is the Rhythm guitarist and lead singer. James’ guitar is what you mostly hear when you listen to their music. James actually records all of the guitars on the studio tracks and they often record 2-3 tracks of guitar playing the same thing to make it sound heavier. Kirk pretty much only comes in the studio to record the solo’s on the album. James records basically every other guitar part you hear. So then Kirk has to learn the riffs just to be able to play them live. James is considered one of if not the best rhythm guitarist ever. He’s so tight in his playing he’s able to make every note sound heavy without bleeding together and his downpicking is ridiculously fast and tight. Also being able to play what he does while singing is an insane talent. Fun fact, he can also play drums and piano extremely well too. Y’all need to check out Blackened and Battery. 2 songs that will really show off James’ guitar playing. Blackened is basically all downpicked, and battery is just a stupidly weird and fast galloping rhythm with a weird switch in it and it’s amazing to hear how perfect he plays it while singing at the same time
