  • @gastlygaming4273
    @gastlygaming4273 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    JHF said before the draft he wanted the added attention which would come with being the number one pick, he said before playing a game he wanted to be the best player in the AFL, he didn’t carry himself professionally at North, and made the decision to leave knowing the level of scrutiny that would bring onto him. he can’t then have others come out publicly and demand it stop immediately, just because of his age. Kane and King may have some part to play in all of this, but most of it lies with Jason himself, and there’s only one way he’s going to get the footy public back on side, by actually playing good football, consistently, and maybe being humble about it in the process.

      I went to Hawks vs Cats with a mate. The guys behind us just yelled and berated every player - on their own team!
      Cats have just won a flag and smacked the Hawks by 80odd and these guys just sat there and whinged and abused and sooked.

    Kane wanted to argue about if its reasonable to declare that he was the catalyst for 65K non-North Melbourne fans to boo JHF and instead David was never going to be happy unless Kane was humiliated into submission. Kingy played the man a lot and the more he got angry and emotional the less he listened and then responded to what Kane was actually saying. I don't think David King once conceeded that there was some merit to Kane's points and point of view on the situation. Kane's pot shot about "Kingy's grand final" was also cheap. I think King would've punched KC if they were in the studio together. Will they be friends after this in the future?

    Who cares who started it and who was a bigger part. The point is they both contributed towards the issue and as key figures and speakers for AFL they should simply apologise for their part and encourage people to change their behaviour around the JHF issue. Rather than care more about who’s to blame.

    please. King keeps saying "you started it, you lit the fire", just scrambling, Kane says yes yes were all involved. So wrong. His only comment this year was when he didn't chase - and a number of journalists made the same comment. He also praised him after his game in Rd 1 and the game last week. He also commented how all of the young Port mids had to step up, not just JHF. That's basically it. Don't worry about facts though 🤣Kane never asked himself why JHF gets booed against other teams? He can't think of any reason? Really?

  • @omaramark

    Both great analysts of the game and both great insights for the fans. They consistently make great points. On the JHF issue though I think both are affected by their admirable allegiances to their former clubs, this made the whole discussion a bit too circular. Also aren’t we all buying into the assumption that the booing is bad? If the fans boo because of what Cornes, Kingy or what anyone says in the media or social media that is just too bad.

    What a childish argument from two grown men.. felt like I was listening to a couple 6 year olds working out who said what first. People are booing a young player and are doing so for their own reason ( I don't think it has anything to do with what these two clowns say in the media) - may not be fair or reasonable but they pay to go and watch the football and can cheer and boo as they please. The more it is talked about the worse it will probably get unfortunately.

  • @jacxx108

    These two aside, JHF leaving North was a mess. Footy moves too quick, and the 4 way trade which got him to Port was unbelievable and maybe it’s a sign of what’s to come for the future of the trade period. Can’t wait for the debate in 5-7 years about who won this trade

  • @jeanette5457

    I can understand a North supporter not having too much sympathy, or even kind feelings for JHF. North "wasted" their first pick on a player, who looked like he just didn't want to be there. It looked like he didn't really want to be in a bottom club, with probably the poorest facilities in the competition. This is a problem with the practice of giving the bottom club first pick, and JHF isn't the first, nor will he be the last.

    • @PWD65
      @PWD65 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are you talking about? If the bottom club doesn't get the top pick then who should? Do you want the same teams at the top every year and the same teams at the bottom?

    • @jeanette5457
      @jeanette5457 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PWD65 Yes I agree, its about equalization. However there remains the problem of the most desirable recruits not wanting to stay at basket case teams. These guys are hungry for both success and to maximise their earnings from the game. That is difficult to achieve when you are playing for the competition easy beats. Maybe we need a rule that you must stay with the team that firsts drafts you for a certain period of time. But think of the restraint of trade issues that could put in motion if implemented.

    • @PWD65
      @PWD65 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeanette5457 So where do you think the top pick should go?

  • @Danny310563
    @Danny310563 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think people are booing because he was a number one pick and left after just one year to go home. Is there any precedent for this?: Of course there was going to be media scrutiny. Clubs get that pick as a result of being rock bottom and wooden spooners and to see the kid leave after one year is not a good look particularly using the go home reason. Having said that no doubt North could have handed him better and may have kept him if they did. Regardless I hate the booing, yes fans have every right to boo but I think many of us find it childish and when its relentless;ess and never ending it can have a pretty nasty affect on the player who is just a young man. I always found the booing of Adam Goodes distasteful and cringeworthy.
