RE3 cut out the clock tower section and graveyard section. RE4 cut out U-3 boss fight. Silent Hill 2 is the perfect remake because it keeps original content but expanded with new exploration areas and collectibles.

I don't know why they removed incendiary grenades from RE4 remake like they removed giant tarantulas from the sewer section of the original RE2. They also ruined RE3 remake by removing the clock tower and graveyard sections. It's a disservice to fans of original content! Silent Hill 2 remake has better tone, visuals and is more scary. It has better voice acting, story and overall better exploration with better locations which are iconic. Unreal Engine is better than the dated RE Engine! I preferred the Silent Hill remake by far.
RE4 is not a survival horror game it rewards you for killing enemies. The mercenaries game is action purely. The depth of Silent Hill 2 remake is superior.

Both are great but as other said, and as you mentioned in your OP, it depends on what you value more: action or horror. Though its worth noting that both games have both aspects: RE4make has great atmosphere too and also has some horror-y moments and scares of its own and SH2 too has combat and enemies to fight with. Its just that the focus of RE4 is clearly on action while the focus of SH2 is clearly on horror and narrative.

Graphics quality looks quite similar. It's baffling that RE4 runs at 80-120FPS at 4k with DLAA mod on my rig, while SH2 runs at 40-ish FPS at DLSS Quality 4k (1440p), not to mention huge stutters. UE5 just sucks balls. Hardly better graphics (if at all) over last-gen/cross-gen best looking games at 1/6th of FPS, if you also count resolution difference. Every game dev should ditch that s**t engine.

this is wrong comparison, silent hill on default setting gamma to high, you must set gamma more lowers, dont forget turn on ray tracing and set all high. silent hill have alot effect. example assets Leaf have effect ghost (because inside another dimension). When you first start playing, look towards a tall tree, the tree trunk on top moves with the wind, and the twigs move, and the leaves move too.
One game will sell 14 million like earlier re2 remake and has 145 000 max on steam… and another will barely sell 2 million and has 23 000 ( 7 thousand lower then dead space remake which flopped sales wise) and only 5 thousand people playing it as daily right now 3 weeks after launch …

this is wrong comparison, silent hill on default setting gamma to high, you must set gamma more lowers, dont forget turn on ray tracing and set all high. silent hill have alot effect. example assets Leaf have effect ghost (because inside another dimension). When you first start playing, look towards a tall tree, the tree trunk on top moves with the wind, and the twigs move, and the leaves move too.

@@angads.9819 SH and RE4 may not be the same type of action but both are survival horrors and are very similar to each other you definitely know that, these type of game was very common in japan in the late 90's/early 2000s so its a normal thing to compare them. Those were good graphical comparasions, people in the comments that are being idiots towards two awesome games.
