Just picked up the Jacob’s Pardon Batch 3 a few days ago. Surprisingly, I absolutely love it. Great nose. Great palate. And it does not drink like a HAZMAT. Really glad I picked this one up.
I ended giving JP batch 3 to a few friends who aren’t really whiskey drinkers and aren’t huge on the higher proof stuff. They all loved it. It’s crazy how well this batch does with everybody. Mines already running low, so I’ll definitely have to grab a backup.
I'm sipping on a RY3 14 year light whiskey at 130.4 proof and blown away by how good it tastes and how it drinks way below its proof point. You both are so good together and very informative and entertainig.........Cheers!
Great video! I'm glad I was not the one drinking that liquid fire. When you get over 120 proof, I need to drink it over a block of ice or at least put a few drops of water in the glass. I'm happy in the 100 to 120 range.
If I Ever went off Trenton s "flavor analysis" I'd never try anything but dang I love the Trentonisms they make these so much more fun! Love your channel! Keep em coming Oh yeah candy show candy show!!!
Never heard the term Hazmat before. Learn something new every day. Thanks. The highest proof I have had is ECBP C923 at 133 proof and I like it a lot. I will have to look for a Hazmat to try soon.
A cool thing about those Obtainium bottles is that they were sourced out of MGP, and the labels on some of them read "Distilled at Lawrenceburg Distillers of Indiana," MGP's previous name, and the name that actually made the whiskey. We did a barrel pick of their light whiskey too, and it was a great hazmat bottle.
Two thoughts - I've seen Jacob's Pardon 18 sitting on shelf but always figured it wasn't great since no one buys it for $170-180 and it's sourced.... I never noticed it was Hazmat whiskey. I'm totally (like many other viewers) adding that to my list of bottles to pick up. Second thought - Hazmat Wheat Whiskey is the best wheat whiskey. I had a Dry Fly 8 year old Wheat Whiskey store pick that was bonkers good. It didn't drink hot but it LIT YOU UP quickly. First night I had the bottle I had about 1.5 ounces with some water but since it didn't drink too hot I downed it pretty quick. Went to get up and go pee after a few minutes and the room started spinning a bit. Anyway - I loved that bottle. Crushed it over a couple months and I've been searching for something similar ever since.

Kurt, that Obtanium light whiskey was $69.99 plus tax. Butterscotch is also a better note than caramel for that. I always told people it was all caramel, so thank you for that revelation. Cheers!
Cat’s Eye is just down the street from me. They have sourced most of their juice from various places and just blended their offerings. I have purchased a. couple of their bottles locally for $60-70. I am not sure about the light whiskey. My opinion of what I have bought is similar to Kurt’s, just a one noter with heat. Enjoy these blinds.
It would be cool to blind these with ice and compare the results. Me personally I don’t think I would enjoy those without ice or even attempt to sip them without ice. Hey great show as usual, thanks
I'm wondering what change to the flavor profile might occur if you added some high-proof grain alcohol (Everclear) to some low proof bourbons that are weak on taste. Would the alcohol bring out more flavors or were they left in the barrel or diluted out to bring down the proof?
Coy Hill secondary pricing is crazy because pretty well every respected reviewer has loved it and is usually some of the best whiskey they ever tasted.
As someone who owns a CH it's really good. I would put it up with GTS, WLW and the Bowman CS batch 1. I'm not sure how I feel about this blind because it would be so obvious what your drinking that you could make the results whatever you want. I'm not saying they did this but it's just a fact. This is still a cool idea for a blind. Great job guys!
Highest proof I ever had, very recent in fact, was 133. And it took me about four micro sips to get any tasting notes other than ethanol. I got to a point where I would distinguish specific notes, but I never got away from the heat. 140 sounds torturous.
My peak so far has been 1920 at 58% and it was good but it damn. near. killed. me. I can assure you I'm having more fun watching these two than I would drinking that stuff. 45-50 percent is plenty. 70 percent is a stunt.
I have a Jack Daniel’s single barrel rye heroes selection at 138.4 proof. I like it without any training wheels. It’s really damn good, but tiny sips are what you want with that.
Great videos guys - thanks. I have a simple question for you guys. How long before an open bottle of bourbon starts to turn, or go bad? I’m thinking, in part, it depends on how much bourbon is actually in the bottle. Thanks again for all the great videos.
It’s worth picking up if you are a Garrison Bros fan. We bounce back and worth between that and the Balmorhea. We don’t hit the Laguna Madre unless it’s a super special occasion
@@clayspence4160 I’ve yet to see a Laguna Madre in person but have seen a Lady Bird but wasn’t quite sure enough to buy it. Haven’t made my mind up on cognac finishes. I like some and some I don’t.
I've got the Jacob's Pardon Batch 3 18 year and it is one of the most amazing whiskeys I've ever put to my lips. In my opinion it drinks way lower proof than it is. SUPER FLAVOR BOMB.
I saw a bottle of that batch 3 for $180, I passed on it. I know it's MGP, 100% corn... just can't drop that much on something I know nothing about and no reviews...
I had some ECBP C923 last night and it was too hot for me this time. And it's just 133 proof. Pretty sure HAZMAT would do me in (unless I put it over a big ice cube). And I need to watch Suits.
Trenton I think you made a comparison the new holland bourbon to an American single malt. New holland just released a high proof version of there zeppelin new hollands take on an American single malt. It might be taproom only. Perhaps a patron hooks you up or you take the short drive to battle creek.
I wish you guys had the obtainium Canadian whiskey instead. Little more flavor, usually another 10 years of age, and it's around 160 proof but drinks lower than the light whiskey. Pretty sure it's black velvet's old proofing juice for their blends. Wild stuff
Where’d you find season 9 of suits? Just finishing season 8 but it ain’t on Netflix. Your prunie reference led me right to Louis Litt and then you said it I laughed out loud
The lower esophageal burn suggests you may have some level of acid reflux. You likely burned the sphincter as a result of stomach acids wearing at the coating mucosa and then introducing something as potent as 70%+ ethanol. Since it was so low in the esophagus, I would assume low grade reflux. To curb this, maybe drink some alkaline water more often, so you don't need to pop Tums nonstop... it might even help to do your palate cleanse with the alkaline water, just make sure to get one that doesn't taste metallic so it doesn't impact your flavor profiles.
This is awesome that JDCH sells for 600+ like hotcakes on the secondary. Just goes to show if you follow the hype and not your pallet you may be very disappointed.
This kind of undermines the message of drinking how you enjoy it, not how someone tells you how you should drink it. I understand it’s a taste test but with ice or water would also be a taste test. Still enjoy the content though.
Crushes Coy Hill? Wait til BREWZLE hears about this. TJ ain't gonna be happy, lol. 😂😂. Great video guys!
