There are two options, Brian. Just two. If you have two different customs regimes, you need a border. So that can be down the Irish Sea, or that can be the border between Northern Ireland and Eire. So, from what Lord Frost has said, it was actually Hilary Benn who was one of the main architects of our current situation. It was Benn who removed the possibility of leaving on WTO. This left the Government with little room to negotiate as they could not threaten to leave without a deal. Therefore, if we were to leave we had to leave on whatever the EU offered, and they were never going to offer us a good deal.
OK.... and HIlary Benn was using our own parliamentary system to achieve this. The partliamentary system you wanted to have full control when you voted for us to leave the EU. So you got what you want and have nothing to complain about.

In the seventies that once in a lifetime eleven plus exam was NOT the final arbiter of where you could end up. I remember well being in the A form of the girls' grammar school at the beginning of the second year and being introduced to two new form members. They had both spent a year in a secondary modern school, were identified as late developers and were shifted to the grammar school at the end of the year. When we reached the sixth form, another bunch of pupils joined us from schools with no sixth form. It was a brilliant system which allowed pupils from less affluent families like mine to achieve their full potential. I feel very sad that a generation of children has since been homogenised into mediocrity..
Our present government still want to be tied to the EU. Ireland is baggage, they have to quit the EU or quit Britain and go it alone. We need to grow crops again and NOT buy food from the EU. Farmers getting money for leaving their fields bare is CRAZY.
