My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.

She went on to successfully lose more than 300 pounds, reaching her goal weight of 180. She had skin removal surgery and is very pretty because she's so much happier with herself.
As of 2019 she had left and divorced her husband. Her boyfriend, someone she'd known in the past, and whom she was going to marry, expired of kidney failure before they could be married (all that was in 2019, too).
She's still doing really well as far as anyone can tell; she doesn't update her info too much, wanting to live a quiet life outside of public scrutiny.

I agree with you. I think he may have had some bbw fetish that got satisfied at the beginning but as he kept dealing with the insane amount of care these people need he couldn’t handle it. I don’t think anyone can deal someone this overweight and live a happy life. It’s like dealing with 600lb baby.

I think many people with dysfunctional or self-destructive behaviors and compulsions do say 'no' maybe 99 times...but fail the 100th time.
These videos motivate me to keep losing weight. I'm 5'9 and weigh 190 lb, my goal is to get around 160. I felt awful at 210 lb, can't imagine what being this size is like.

Poor Guilbert, I think everyone understands why he looks for other woman. What noone understands is why he put himself in that situation.
Gilbert has psychological problems of his own. He hurts himself and her by enabling her, and he needs to undergo therapy himself. I think he must have very low self confidence - he chose someone who needed him and undermined her weight loss.

Gilbert is the name of Johnny Depps character in the movie "What's eating Gilbert Grape". Ironically, the movie was about a chronically obese woman that burdened her child (Gilbert) with her obesity.

I imagine the network pays for it - this show brings in a lot of money, and actors in a popular show can make $100,000 an episode - up to millions if it’s the big bang. So they actually come out ahead by paying expenses for their “stars.”

Unusual position requiring strength to support her mass, also deep veined thrombosis is a threat. Cars are hot, if you see many of these 600lb episodes their rooms are equipped with A/C & fans. Plus living on a bed as a recluse must seem safe & car rides take them from that comfort zone which will lead to even more sweating. 45 stone must just be difficult.

I get people have tragic backgrounds, but when they say “I don’t know why I can’t lose weight “ then eat a dozen donuts just as a snack. No one is shoving food into their mouth.
